+ Funguy Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Many MANY years ago it Delores Drive-in for a double Jumbo Jim, special sauce, and Suzy-Q potatoes. Now it's dick!
johnjohn Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 for me it has been Churchs chicken, they are usually not in the best neighborhoods , but worth it http://www.churchs.com/menu.php but a new place had opened here in NC , http://www.campero.com/menu it is great
samhexum Posted November 1, 2017 Author Posted November 1, 2017 for me it has been Churchs chicken I haven't seen one of them in ages. I just checked, & there's one in Manhattan, & the next-closest is Philadelphia. I always wonder, in cases like that, how it can be economically feasible to transport supplies to a lone location so far from the nearest cluster.

It's like crack!
johnjohn Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Try Campero's grilled chicken. It's like crack! Yes, BigK you are right it is so good
Cannon Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 I don't eat poultry anymore but the only thing that tempts me is the turkey burger from Fat Burger. Taco Bell is a very close second.
+ GregM Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Back in my home town of Tacoma there are two places for good fast food nom noms. First is Frisco Freeze by Tacoma General hospital. Absolutely delious greasy gut bombs. The 2nd place is called and dont laugh! Its called S&M deli on 6th ave I believe. They have the best deli sammies! Freakin huge! Now here in Chicago I love me some Portillos. I get the Italian beef combo spicy and WET. But these days I dont do fast food too often. It's too salty and its just super bad for you. Hugs, Greg
+ GregM Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Pho Pho is amazing but probably 2 yrs ago I discovered ramen. Not just any ramen but a ramen house where they make their own noodles. WOW! Fresh noodles makes a world of difference. Luckily theres Furious Spoon that does an awesome noodle job. Hugs, Greg + oldNbusted 1

+ José Soplanucas Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 (edited) OMG! I was forgetting my favorite one from Buenos Aires: http://empanadasgourmet.com.ar And from Corrientes, Argentina: http://www.corrientesintensa.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/images-1.jpg http://www.mburucuyapora.com.ar/fotos/Feria%20del%20Chipa%20Mboca%20Mburucuya.jpg This is chipá, traditional in Paraguay and Argentinean Northeast. In Brazil they have a variation they call pão de queijo. It is a basically a biscuit made of cheese and yuca flour. The basic dough, with tiny variations in the recipe is cooked in different ways, fried, baked, grilled. Edited November 4, 2017 by latbear4blk + FreshFluff 1

Hugs, Greg I have had pho in Seattle (many times) and in Saigon (yes you can call it Saigon,) and what is served in Seattle is totally authentic. Was good to know.
+ BlueSky Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 I also love Waffle House... scattered , covered and smothered and country-ed. It's been years since I lived near a Waffle House. I do miss the waffles and hash browns. Perfect weekend breakfast. + azdr0710 1
+ FreshFluff Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 Taco Bell's Mexican Pizza. Pizzeria Uno's individual deep dish. I rarely have these as I live in NYC, but are they really worse for you than other non-fast foods with similar caloric content?

+ GregM Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 When I am in Vegas I stay downtown. I like dt vegas cause it is cheaper than the strip and I normally dont pay resort fees AND on my way to and from the strip theres a great lil arepas place called Viva Arepas. Oh my goodness! So simple and sooo delish! I highly recommend if your in Vegas to check it out! ¡VIVA AREPAS! https://vivalasarepas.com Hugs, Greg
+ José Soplanucas Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 (edited) This is mazapán, very popular in Mexico and Texas. It is a sweet made mostly of peanut batter and sugar. Edited November 4, 2017 by latbear4blk
+ José Soplanucas Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 (edited) These are alfajores de maicena. Alajores are a traditional sweet snack in Argentina, so popular that is mostly industrialized, but some varieties are still easy to find in their artisanal version. This variation, is the ones easier to find home made, and it is my favorite. Edited November 4, 2017 by latbear4blk + GregM 1
+ José Soplanucas Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 (edited) This is a choripán. Perhaps he most popular fast food in most of Argentina. The "chorizo" (Argentine sausage) is put inside a French bread bun with just a touch of chimichurri. Of course there are fancier variations with more ingredients, but this is the one you get in cheap street food, and it is delicious. Edited November 4, 2017 by latbear4blk SuperJunior 1
+ José Soplanucas Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 (edited) The Uruguayan chivito, one of the best sandwiches in the Solar System. We are lucky in DC we have several places to eat it. Edited November 4, 2017 by latbear4blk SuperJunior and + GregM 2

+ BlueSky Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Any votes for your favorite fries? I like the waffle cut fries at Chick-fil-a. McDonald's is a close second. Mickey D's seems to win a lot of taste tests. I hear In-N-Out has good fries but I've never wanted to wait in line long enough to find out.
bigvalboy Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 I'm sure BVB and other SoCal people know this, but for visitors to the LAX area who also like planespotting and want to try a classic In N Out burger, head to the very popular one on Sepulveda immediately north of the field. Park a couple blocks north behind the Trader Joe's or at the Ralph's on the west side of Sepulveda, then walk over to avoid the perennial traffic jam at the In N Out itself. Order a double-double animal-style and head over to the small, grassy park across the street and watch the planes land immediately overhead. Hope for an A-380! One of my hugely favorite things to do when in LA!! It is also the place to stop and wait for friends that are landing at LAX. From the In-N-Out location, it is less than 5 min to enter the "arrival" terminal and circle through. I come early, grab a burger, and wait on that side street next to In-N-Out. Friends landing just send me a text as soon as they are curb side, then I can just swing through and make the legal 3 min stop. + azdr0710 and + BlueSky 2

Boink Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 (edited) Living in SoCal, I have long been fascinated by the almost universal obsession with In N Out Burger. I know I am in the extreme minority - and I actually have kept my silence on this topic with friends, but from my earliest sampling of them I thought there is absolutely nothing about their product to warrant the cult-like status they enjoy. I have never seen one without lines around the block (cars) and traffic jams. I heard of one new store going up and they had to install a traffic light to accommodate it. To me, their burgers are 'OK', but certainly not worth the hassle. And their fries out-and-out SUCK. They remind me of Wise potato sticks that used to be sold in tiny bags when I was a kid. Far superior burgers, IMHO, are to be had at Tommy's, and, especially, 5 Guys Burgers (who make the best fries hands down). Edited November 4, 2017 by Boink bigvalboy and + BlueSky 2
