A former Boeing employee known for raising concerns about the firm's production standards has been found dead in the US. 

John Barnett had worked for Boeing for 32 years, until his retirement in 2017. 

In the days before his death, he had been giving evidence in a whistleblower lawsuit against the company.

Boeing Calhoun given the boot. He was put in place after the Max 8 public relations disaster. Like his predecessor he will walk out the door with tens of millions of dollars. Not exactly serious repercussions for poor leadership. Until Boeing starts putting engineering first, instead of profits, these incidents will continue, Airbus will benefit and passengers will be endangered. It was only through sheer luck no one died when the door plug blew out. If deaths had occurred Boeing would be in an even worse position right now.

Federal authorities say they’re investigating Boeing after a whistleblower repeatedly raised concerns with two widebody jet models, and claimed the company retaliated against him.

Whistleblower Sam Salehpour, a Boeing engineer, alleges that Boeing took shortcuts when manufacturing its 777 and 787 Dreamliner jets, and that the risks could become catastrophic as the airplanes age. The New York Times was first to report the whistleblower complaint.

 

Wonder how long this whistleblower will be alive?

The US has opened a new inquiry into troubled jet firm Boeing, after the company told air safety regulators that it might not have properly inspected its 787 Dreamliner planes. 

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it would look into whether staff had falsified records.

It said Boeing was reinspecting all 787 jets still on the manufacturing line.

Boeing will be forced to develop an "action plan" to address concerns about planes already in service, it added. 

Boeing did not comment.
