I got news for you... Stores put out Christmas 🎄 decorations in October, and all the best stuff is purchased by Halloween.  So by early October, one is already elderly and preparing for the end.  At just past Halloween, whatever is left in the elderly section is getting ready for to be moved to the clearance section 😉

Just because comercialization of Christmas season makes it arrive earlier, the date is the same as when you did not see christmas things until after Thanksgiving.  So real time and commercial time are completely different.  Just Like the President's day weekend will last for several weeks rather than a weekend.

One could use the system of defining 80 as a full year.  So elderly would be from Thanksgiving to the end of the year.

As a result, I would describe 66 as autumnal.

A more accurate way to look at this is using the annual cycle of life rather than the calendar year.  Spring clearly is birth and Winter becomes death.

Using those 80 years, Spring is birth to 20 which is closely aligned to physical human growth and development.  The Summer of our lives is 20-40 where everything is meant to thrive.  By Autumn, 40-60 we slowly begin our maturity, start drying and greying and wrinkling so that by Winter, 60-80 we eventually shrivel up and die.

A recent article about men's health said on average that 65 is the major turning point for cellular functioning, whereas the peak was decades prior, at around 65 there started a noticeable downward ski slope decline.

You can choose to admit it or not, but 66 is definitely within the Winter of your life.  BUT as we all know, some Winters are long and drawn out and full of cozy fires and steamy sex.

Mine said that since I want to age gracefully I should install a grab bar.

Good point. I keep putting it off but I definitely need to move that up on my job list.

At 79 my winter so far has been cosy fires and steamy sex.

I say 66 is elderly, sorry. Most elder abuse laws state the age of the victim has to be at least 60 to be charged for that crime.

As I understand it (not with any legal certainty) is that the elder abuse statutes can be somewhat more flexible, and that they cover abuse of other vulnerable adults. Age 60 may be where they start to apply regardless of any other factors.
