Spayse studios is an open floor plan business in a strip mall in Dallas.  Israel Luna operates it and hosts a lot of events for gay men including men’s naked yoga and nudist mixers.  It’s also the location of some gay sex gatherings like Cumunion which had an event scheduled there on Friday 4/17/26,

I can’t help but think of when Dallas Police raided the Midtowne Spa bathhouse and arrested several patrons in 2010.

Luna the owner was charged with various offences mainly related to lack of licensing for a sex oriented business, which presumably he could have done to avoid a police raid. He was found to have soft drugs on the site and charged with that as well.

50 attendees were detained but released after an hour with no charges.  But Luna was also charged with promoting prostitution but the facts as presented fail to show that that was going on. The 50 attendees did not seem to fit the profile of either providers or clients. The activities appeared to be consensual whatever they were.

Based on the linked articles, it doesn't sound like Luna was involved in "promoting prostitution," but the amount of controlled substances he possessed certainly could cause problems for him since the raid uncovered a lot more than anyone would have for personal use.  I wouldn't be surprised to see the drug related charges elevated beyond mere possession, but that will obviously require finding some evidence that he actually sold/distributed drugs to others.

Luna was pretty stupid. First, opening and operating his business without the proper license. What did he expect would happen? Many businesses in Dallas operate with the sexually oriented business license without any problems. Bozo has been to the Tin Room on a couple of occasions. Never heard of any raids or police action there. Secondly, keeping all of those drugs at his unlicensed business was an open invitation for a police raid. Agree that marijuana and hash oil are considered "soft" drugs by most definitions (although 227 grams of marijuana sounds like a lot), but not so sure about the psychedelics and 671 grams of psilocybin mushrooms. The article doesn't state the type of drug they found that got him the first-degree felony charge. Only that it was "possession of a controlled substance of more than 400 grams."
Hard to believe that they can get the promotion of prostitution charge to stick, unless there is something that the police found that is not mentioned in the article.

Being that this happened in Texas, it's hard to believe that Luna won't face some jail time and a stiff $$ fine.

I live in Canada where marijuana is legal to consume but not traffic. Magic mushrooms are gaining more interest as medicinal drugs that alleviate the pain associated with various disorders. I can see them being legalized for these uses in the near future. 
Our laws are substantially different from those in the US so it is hard to appreciate the impact those generally tougher US laws have in a liberalized society as both countries purport to be.

Excuse the drunk history, but I thought that medieval regimes regulated prostitution. Same moral handwringing; appetite for punitive consequences developing later.
