Dynasty, Falcon Crest, North and South … anything by Bill Conti … that saxophone in the Knots Landing theme … 🎼 Green Acres is the place to be 🎼 As soon as I quit I’ll think of a dozen more, lol! Something of an obscure reference but “Flying High” that CBS 1-season “Charlie’s Angels” knockoff about flight attendants. It was very odd that the kids' names didn't appear in the opening credits. Only Brian Keith and Sebastian Cabot (btw, Bozo had a MAJOR crush on Mr. French. + azdr0710 Posted March 28 Posted March 28 (edited) 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of route 66 as an official federal highway and many celebrations are occurring this year between Chicago and Santa Monica.....the TV theme from "Route 66" is, of course, legendary....the show ran from 1960-1964, following the adventures of Buz and Tod as they worked odd jobs and met quirky characters each week......regrettably, this scene has them driving old route 40 over Donner Pass above Donner Lake.....George Maharis was released from the show in 1963 when, in part, producers found out he was gay..... They have him looking longingly at something unseen and then a quick switch to Martin Milner's handsome face. They are talking and directly looking at each other and then Milner stares at a passing women, while Maharis tries to get his attention, never looking to see at who or what he is staring. At the end, he wraps his arm around Milner and keeps it there as they walk. Milner does not respond in kind. Particularly in westerns, but in many "buddy" shows as well, there was often a gay subtext with longing glances and crotch close ups and needless shirtless scenes. Edited March 28 by purplekow

jeezifonly Posted March 29 Posted March 29 When in college in the 70's, my summers were spent working on shows in a theme park- one of the best shows had a medley of sung TV themes, from Rawhide to Beverly Hillbillies to Good Times. + poolboy48220 Posted March 29 Posted March 29 The Star Trek theme had lyrics. I think they're listed in "The Making of Star Trek", a book that came out midway through the original series' run. It's rumored that Gene Roddenberry wrote them quickly so he'd share royalties with Alexander Courage, who wrote the music. To the best of my knowledge it's never been performed with the lyrics.
