As in most things, safe and unsafe are not binary alternatives. In an old Tonight Show skit, Johnny Carson read a list of ten things -last to first- that could increase your safety when in the water. Number 7 was "Do not tease the sharks." Carson's question was, "What six things were more important?" Rod Hagen, + Charlie, BSR and 3 others 1 5
BigDMike Posted April 30 Posted April 30 (edited) Today I was in my office and that 2:00 PM lull started. I was in between meetings, went to get a cup of coffee then returned to my desk, grabbed my phone and opened up Sniffies. I logged in and once it populated where I'm at...one of the staff members that sits in a cubicle 2 rows in front of my office comes up. My profile does not have my face showing...I have "other" pics and then share my face with those I'm interested in. He was sharing his face and much more in his profile along with some of his likes and that he's "hosting in his car" He's not someone I would go for....he's a twink and that's not my speed. I stayed on there, looking around and then he messages me! 😳 He says...it's appears your nearby....well yeah, it was showing less then 200 feet...but oddly enough it didn't put me right next to him, I was elsewhere. He gave me some compliments on my pic and then asked if I was "looking" Yes, I turned him down (and never showed him my face or revealed who I am)....but I kept thinking about....that's pretty ballzy...I gotta give him credit for that. Then women and children if we must. • You can if you want, but dinner party invitations that arrive via group text mean you do not have to bring anything. • No, I don't think he has the faintest clue. • Sunblock. Yes, it was ballsy but he should have been pretty confident that whoever might be looking was like-minded and I’m sure that he hoped someone else was as horny as he was. + Vegas_Millennial, BigDMike, + Just Sayin and 2 others 1 4

Mo Mason Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I don't have this website bookmarked at all. I simply go to my msn homepage and type "m4m forum" and it brings me to The Deli every time. I can never remember that it's now called "the company of men". + Vegas_Millennial and + Charlie 2

Thomas_Belgium Posted May 8 Posted May 8 In 2024 about twenty-four percent of emergency calls to the police (Eastern Flanders) never got answered, I don't have the impression the situation improved now. Is this a problem in other countries too?

Thomas_Belgium Posted May 18 Posted May 18 When I heard "Spilling the tea" the firts time (English isn't my first language) I had this image about two old ladies gossiping while drinking tea, because the lady gets excited about telling the gossip, she shakes the cup of tea. Later I found out this probably isn't the origin but the image of the old ladies stays in my thoughts. + Charlie and CuriousByNature 2

mike carey Posted May 22 Posted May 22 This is Australia too. Stopped making 1 and 2 cent coins in 1988, the cost of the copper in them was more than their face value, and they were withdrawn from circulation in 1992. Same rounding for cash sales and exact amount for cards or electronic (or cheques while they last). New Zealand went further, a complete reissue of new coins, 10 cents is the lowest value and is a copper coin. In both our countries, $5 is the lowest value bank note, and we have one and two dollar coins. And yes, I know about loonies and toonies. Luv2play and + Charlie 1 1
wsc Posted May 22 Posted May 22 There was momentum in the US some years ago for a plan to do away with the penny, but the cause came to a screeching halt when it was realized that the Speaker of the House was from Illinois, The Land of Lincoln. + Charlie 1

There was only one person on our one and two cent coins, and that same person was on all our coins, so removing two of the coins conveyed no perceived slight. All coins, save the two dollars, have fauna or a symbol on the other side. The two dollar coin has an unidentified person, a representation not an individual. As for that one person on them all, she was replaced after 2022 with another individual, also on all the coin denominations. wsc and + Charlie 2

BSR Posted Tuesday at 07:24 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:24 PM I heard a fascinating story the other day … the physical therapist who works at my gym comes from a family of Spanish-speaking Filipinos (only some 3,000 native Spanish speakers in the Philippines, most are 80+). He didn't grow up speaking Spanish, but his mother and aunt did. When I mentioned that the Japanese targeted Spanish-speaking Filipinos when they invaded in WWII (because the hispanohablantes tended to be wealthy and powerful), he told me the story of his grandfather and great-grandfather. When the Japanese stormed through their neighborhood, his grandfather and great-grandfather hid by diving into a pile of dead bodies. The Japanese used to thrust swords into bodies just to make sure they really were dead. While his great-grandfather managed to escape this fate, his grandfather wasn’t so lucky and got stabbed in the leg. Don’t ask me how, but the grandfather managed to contain any noise or physical response such that the Japanese left him for dead. Both men managed to survive although his grandfather had a limp for the rest of his life. If it’s a matter of life and death, you do whatever you have to do. I am nonetheless gobsmacked that the grandfather took a sword in the leg without even flinching or uttering a whisper. War really is hell, in countless different ways. Before she who would be replaced was replaced, she visited the "land down under" on several occasions. This caused some elements to complain, saying "I wish she'd stop doing that! Every time she visits, she sets the republican cause back twenty years!" As proof of her effect, it is now her son's face that graces Australian coinage. + Charlie and mike carey 2
TonyDown Posted Wednesday at 05:23 AM Posted Wednesday at 05:23 AM (edited) The Royal Canadian Mint struck their last penny, May 2012, according to the Internet. As a boy scout I earned credit for coin collecting. Canadian pennies turned up often in US change. I would buy rolls of pennies at the bank, and sort through them. I found a few Canadian pennies with George VI and recall one even older than that. Most I collected had "Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada".
