🤣 Reports from not one but two unreliable trash websites (Newsweek & RadarOnLine)  make the speculation about sex tapes very OJ!

From the link:

"But despite the lack of evidence, the mere thought that the sex tapes might exist has sent some people online into a frenzy about them."

Just another non-story to keep it alive and people expecting something relevant to happen.

BTW, shouldn't we call it something other than sex tapes? Tapes are a little, like, obsolete. Just sayin'.

The economic middle has hollowed out in this country due to uncertainty- i.e. live in a nice house but do not have the savings to keep it if they're out of work for even a few months - and a LOT of people are closer than they realize to having nothing left to lose.

I believe this is where many people are coming from who fetishize Mangione. He's handsome for sure...but his vigilantism additionally turns him into a sort of night-in-shining armor to the middle class.

Personally, I think he's hot as hell...and we all know that hot people get a pass in many things in life.

gee, surprised that Newsweek would stoop to printing a sleazy rumor like this......wasn't Newsweek really a respected magazine, along with Time and US News & World Report back in the day??.....or did they have a major policy/ownership change in recent years?

I trust Karen Friedman Agnifilo, her comments.

The sex tape reporting is sketchy.

When I think about the Las Vegas shooter, an old guy, and how many died, that someone like Mangione gets so much attention compared to the Las Vegas shooter, maybe we all need to think twice about the Internet environment we spend time, and whether we are clicking through to the slimy content.

Most of the major news outlets have taken to printing rumors over the last ten years. The entire media industry has shifted from print to online which has changed traditional business models. The answer has been to rely mostly on advertising income and "click-bait" is utilized to draw viewers. Sensationalism is the tool that gets everyone to "click".

Law and Order didn't waste any time.  Last night's episode, "Folk Hero", was clearly based on the Mangione case, with some facts changed, of course.

Did you notice that Jesse Metcalfe played the cop who partnered with Vince?  Benito Martinez of THE SHIELD played the judge.  BLACKLIST vet (and former SVU guest star, as well as Jack McCoy's former boo) Laila Robbins played the defense attorney.  She's always excellent.

America's for-profit healthcare model has been broken for a very long time, and there is a strong monied interest that does not want it to change. Ask any doctor today what he thinks of our insurance situation, and you'll immediately see the look of disgust appear on the face. A lot more people are going to have to die or go absolutely broke before we see a change. Sadly, that's the way it seems to work in America.

There was a time when United Healthcare was considered the "best" in NYC. I remember once choosing it in order to get a specific specialist. Then, something happened, and its reputation went south. Major hospitals started to drop it, along with a lot of doctors. That usually means they don't want to pay for much needed services, or the fight to get them paid is unbearable, or the amount paid is a joke.

Personally, I know a lot about the horrors of America's health care. I once had a decent amount of money saved for retirement, but that all disappeared as I was forced to deal with my dying parents during the housing crisis of 2008. Not only did we lose the family home, I lost my savings. I could write a book on the subject, but no one wants to read something so awful.

Mangione's good looks feed the media frenzy, because in America (and other places too), viewers love a car crash when the car is a Ferrari. This will pass, and more ordinary people will suffer. We'll have to wait and see what the future holds.

Th Attorney General wants the death penalty for Mangione.  I wish I were on that jury.  No way in hell would I vote for conviction.

I’d have a snowball’s chance in Hades of making it onto that jury.  If the prosecution is smart, they’ll show prospective jurors a shirtless pic of Luigi then look for “that look,” you know, that starving wolf -> juicy ribeye look.  They’d ding me so hard I’d sail clear over the Hudson River.

So here's a guy who committed cold blooded murder. It's on video! Even if he is naked in court sporting an erection, you have to vote guilty. The death penalty is a different topic. I'd probably try to avoid that and settle for life in prison, where he would spend his days opening fan mail.

Historically, a citizen who murders a member of "the aristocracy" would be subject to a very public hanging.

Those in control, need to send a strong message that a rebellion will be met with the highest standards of punishment.

I fear that Luigi's role as a vigilante ( or was he a mercenary ? ) ...has been made into a public spectacle that doesn't look unlike a scene from the Hunger Games.

Personally I think he should be spared the death penalty but punished by providing sexual services to a few dozen interested horny citizens a few times a week. 😉

If you’re throwing out the extremely serious charge of killing people, or causing deaths, I think it is irresponsible to do so without hard evidence.  My old shitty health insurance denied surgery that I desperately needed (but not life-dependent), so I have no great love for health insurance companies or their CEOs who callously deny medical care.  Hate the greedy bastards all you want but back it up with stone cold numbers.

Was this not a case of the health insurance provider “rationing “ health care ? If so who would you rather make the decision of withholding treatment, the profit motivated corporation or the public service entity motivated by what is best for the entire population with the available resources?
