Law and Order didn't waste any time.  Last night's episode, "Folk Hero", was clearly based on the Mangione case, with some facts changed, of course.

Did you notice that Jesse Metcalfe played the cop who partnered with Vince?  Benito Martinez of THE SHIELD played the judge.  BLACKLIST vet (and former SVU guest star, as well as Jack McCoy's former boo) Laila Robbins played the defense attorney.  She's always excellent.

America's for-profit healthcare model has been broken for a very long time, and there is a strong monied interest that does not want it to change. Ask any doctor today what he thinks of our insurance situation, and you'll immediately see the look of disgust appear on the face. A lot more people are going to have to die or go absolutely broke before we see a change. Sadly, that's the way it seems to work in America.

There was a time when United Healthcare was considered the "best" in NYC. I remember once choosing it in order to get a specific specialist. Then, something happened, and its reputation went south. Major hospitals started to drop it, along with a lot of doctors. That usually means they don't want to pay for much needed services, or the fight to get them paid is unbearable, or the amount paid is a joke.

Personally, I know a lot about the horrors of America's health care. I once had a decent amount of money saved for retirement, but that all disappeared as I was forced to deal with my dying parents during the housing crisis of 2008. Not only did we lose the family home, I lost my savings. I could write a book on the subject, but no one wants to read something so awful.

Mangione's good looks feed the media frenzy, because in America (and other places too), viewers love a car crash when the car is a Ferrari. This will pass, and more ordinary people will suffer. We'll have to wait and see what the future holds.

Th Attorney General wants the death penalty for Mangione.  I wish I were on that jury.  No way in hell would I vote for conviction.

I’d have a snowball’s chance in Hades of making it onto that jury.  If the prosecution is smart, they’ll show prospective jurors a shirtless pic of Luigi then look for “that look,” you know, that starving wolf -> juicy ribeye look.  They’d ding me so hard I’d sail clear over the Hudson River.

So here's a guy who committed cold blooded murder. It's on video! Even if he is naked in court sporting an erection, you have to vote guilty. The death penalty is a different topic. I'd probably try to avoid that and settle for life in prison, where he would spend his days opening fan mail.

Historically, a citizen who murders a member of "the aristocracy" would be subject to a very public hanging.

Those in control, need to send a strong message that a rebellion will be met with the highest standards of punishment.

I fear that Luigi's role as a vigilante ( or was he a mercenary ? ) ...has been made into a public spectacle that doesn't look unlike a scene from the Hunger Games.

Personally I think he should be spared the death penalty but punished by providing sexual services to a few dozen interested horny citizens a few times a week. 😉

If you’re throwing out the extremely serious charge of killing people, or causing deaths, I think it is irresponsible to do so without hard evidence.  My old shitty health insurance denied surgery that I desperately needed (but not life-dependent), so I have no great love for health insurance companies or their CEOs who callously deny medical care.  Hate the greedy bastards all you want but back it up with stone cold numbers.

Was this not a case of the health insurance provider “rationing “ health care ? If so who would you rather make the decision of withholding treatment, the profit motivated corporation or the public service entity motivated by what is best for the entire population with the available resources?

If charged and given the death penalty, can I suggest he be fucked to death 🤔?

I'm sure many concerned citizens would volunteer....

Take a look at the LPSG thread. Rather than volunteers to execute him, it is plenty of volunteers to be murdered by being dicked down. There are even offers to smell his farts.

But the suicides have a good point. If someone wants to fuck him to death, how do they know that they will be actually the ones passing away thanks to Lulu's superpowers?
