I think they're not so much for identification or security purposes as they are for someone to screen out certain clients by looks or age. Discretion is important to both masseur and client, so using a face pic to out someone isn't likely. But if I'm being asked before the appointment is booked, then I wind up waiting to see if I made the cut. Gandalf

One of the benefits of hiring is - or should be? - that you’re free of having to offer yourself up for evaluation and approval in order to have a sexually rewarding experience. Isn’t that part of what you’re paying for? And isn’t our #1 job skill an ability to find the actual sexiness in all men and reflect it back to them? An escort asking for pics … I’d wonder if he has that skill at all. 🏆 💯

Excellent excellent point... along with being able to perform with people of all shapes, sizes, looks and colors with equal enthusiasm... ALSO to gain and maintain people's trust and ensure their privacy. Asking for someone's photo prior to meeting is a bad business practice and it would turn off a lot of people ( maybe not everybody but most people ) I can see where an actual phone conversation would help ease any apprehension... I don't know about others but I can gather A LOT of information about someone by a simple phone conversation.

Jamie21
No decent masseur should require a face pic. If he’s asking for one then it’s a sign he’s not going to be any good. Move on to a professional. sider, TennisPro35, marylander1940 and 3 others 3 2

d.anders
Asking for a client photo is bad business, but with today's social media climate, where "everything belongs out in the open," no wonder too many guys (especially younger ones) think this is OK behavior. There are some guys who want to use the photo to determine personal attraction. Let's not forget, some horny service providers are in the biz simply to satisfy their hornyness, and figure why not make money as well. They don't really care if they turn lots of guys away, as long as one or two hotties send pics. In their mind, the request weeds out the undesirable. There is a well-reviewed massage guy on this board who asks for a photo. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it. He claims he asks for it because he wants to know whom to expect at his apartment's call box. His intercom has a camera. He says he feels safer buzzing someone in whom he recognizes and expects. Regarding those who fear the worst, anyone in the service industry who is determined to hurt you isn't going to last very long. All it takes is one leaked hurtful episode, and the guy will need to find another career, another source of income. Some guys are crazy, for sure (never book with a known drug addict), but if you shoot the wallet that feeds you and pays your rent, then guess what, you might as well shoot yourself dead. fs12395
Thelatin
If I were a provider, I’d be more interested in what the other end of me looked like. ICTJOCK
I never ask for it, I've had clients provide them (once in a while). It is nice, but not required. He is seeking my service, not my approval. BriansBodywork and + ButchAtl

Alexphilly
I don’t care about face pix it wouldn’t sway my decision I don’t discriminate on looks. Sometimes I get face pix on the first text and I for sure know it’s a flake wanting to get off and I’m 98% right. I just don’t like face pix at the beginning of a dialogue it’s bullshitty to me . DWnyc
Can’t believe people are throwing around accusations of paranoia when we are talking of a hobby that is in the US illegal and in most geographies riddled with stigma. Most points I have on this have been made. I’ll just add that with AI and image recognition software easily available, a picture can enable anyone to gather all sorts of information on the subject in a matter of minutes or less. It’s highly likely the provider will have that by the end of the session anyway through understandable security measures. But regardless, if some are fine providing pictures let them, and let the providers insist on it let the self selection allow for us all - clients and providers - to stick within our comfort zones. spidir and fs12395 1
+ Balthazar
Most masseurs who requested a pic/stats ghosted me upon receiving it, including no longer responding and not showing up to the appointment. At this point, if a masseur requests a pic, I just thank him for his time and move on. Although I don't send pics, I do describe my appearance to escorts. Ultimately, I wouldn't want to hire someone who found me so unappealing that they couldn't reasonably perform. Perhaps that's my way of framing potential rejection from providers positively. You have the right attitude as in it would be a waste of money thrown at someone who doesn’t deserve it, though it sucks that such providers compete alongside the more professional ones For the providers who do actually request a pic for legitimate (to them) reasons I really don’t understand why they don’t get the sensitivity. And this also affects people on the older side, of different body types, physical abilities etc - totally sucks + DrownedBoy

viewing ownly
In my wealth of experience in hiring, was "required" to send one for the first time. but I did, but reluctantly. In the face, with a 10 being best, I'm about a 2 minus. My body is much better looking than my face. No matter. Today, I was cancelled on - I'm almost positive because it doesn't take much to be more attractive - in the face - than I am, and he had a client more appealing come along. I will never agree to send a face pic with a provider again. It's a year of learning lessons, as the first time I sent money in advance to a provider, he flaked. This appointment was over 4 hours away from me, one way. I threatened legal action, and received a reimbursement quickly to not have to do so (not including the gas to and from).
