socurious
Is New York the only American city where is acceptable to charge 350 an hour ? I have been seen a lot of folks charging 400. What about Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Dallas, San Francisco, Seattle, Atlanta, etc. and smaller cities like Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, etc. Thanks in advance. + DynamicUno
I doubt you're going to find much consensus. Even down market cities are trending higher and visitors are all over the place.
Decatur Guy
In Atlanta, out-of-towners often charging $350 an hour. In-towners are more $300 to $350. But I still find. a few $250 to $300.
+ tassojunior
Down south outside the huge metro areas, rates are much lower. Yes, they're there in places like Roanoke, VA, Charleston and Martinsburg, WV, etc. in hustler hangouts and some gay bars. Locals know where they hang out. In Europe (not UK) there's shock among clients as some providers are trying to get 200 now, when the rate just went up from 100 to 150 not that long ago (3 or 4 years). Germany especially has always had low rates as Bahnhofjunge are part of German culture. Guys make their money in wealthy places even like Zurich on turnover at $150, not price. Inside Paragonya it's $100. (Thermas in Barcelona is half that). + DrownedBoy
Chicago has generally stood at 300/hour for experienced and attractive providers, except for visitors, who charge more, and amateurs doing a side gig, who charge less. And I've been getting more unsolicited discount pricing. The only exception was when the pandemic lifted. The price increase was temporary. And there seems to be a consensus among providers here that business is slow nowadays. claym, Nodalguy and Medin 1 1

And there seems to be a consensus among providers here that business is slow nowadays. Yes, in Chicago it is 300/hr. I have found that pretty consistently even among visitors. I don't meet up with a lot of newbies, but they usually are a bit less as mentioned. I've paid quite a bit more on some occasions, but can't think of a time I found it anywhere close to worth it in retrospect. I think this is because people who inflate their prices either tend to be scammy, totally self-serving, or just completely self-absorbed with zero interest in you and who are generally not the people I've found to be fun and to get into it. I think sometimes part of it is that they tend to be physically very attractive, but that just means they are more likely to have the qualities I mentioned earlier and are less likely to have any real interest in you or providing good service. Most providers will give a discount for longer sessions, which can vary a lot. Enhancements can vary too. From what I've seen, most providers will include them or ask for a minimum (2-3) in hours if consuming just a bit with them. If you're wanting to take some hot tea to go, it's usually around 80-100. Of course the amount and quality plays a role, this is just typical.

I imagine this means less flakes B) It's much easier to get around in Europe. If you have the right rail-pass, you can travel by train from big cities for very little. I went from Cologne to Paris last year for basically 10 euro. Hotels are still kinda expensive but if you can get an "anchor client" in each city that will do an overnight, you basically get your hotels covered and then it's just profit after that. In the US, it really may be $200-$300 just to travel to a new city and get a hotel for just one night.
+ BenjaminNicholas
If you have all the right things that your clients want, you can charge a higher rate and you won't have any issue getting it. But the market only bears what gay men can spend and thats much much less disposable income than here. The 10% elite class here is less than 1% there. The customers are often American tourists. Americans conceptions of what is cheap in EU are usually upside down. Train travel included. + keroscenefire

(A few exceptions to the last part of the sentence in Russia and other more extreme countries) As we all know things that are legal are cheaper than illegal ones! + tassojunior
I know nothing is supposed to matter except the major urban centers where the 10% elite mostly live, but I'll stick to my assertion that rates are lower out where people the obnoxious elites call trailer park trash live. Some of the best looking and sexiest guys "available" are out in Roanoke, Virginia, Martinsburg, West Virginia, Hagerstown, Maryland, Birmingham, Alabama, Gulfport and Jackson, Mississippi, Lubbock and Waco Texas, etc. And the word is Oklahoma City is the new gay heaven. $350 is half a month's rent out there and southern and midwestern towns have gays bars where the known G4P's frequent or at least are well known in the bars. I'm sure $200 will get you your pick of the shirtless guys around the pool table at the Quest in Birmingham or hanging outside the gay bars on Salem Av in Roanoke. In our age of entitlement many have forgotten it's not what you think you're worth but what the market will bear. The sex market is absolutely pure free market here or in China. And in markets anywhere if gay men don't have $350 to spend easily on sex, the rates of those successful in those markets is going to be what the market will bear. Not everyone is mobile or free enough to work the circuit of cities where the wealthier live. + Vegas_Millennial

caramelsub
On a side note, Rentcafe isn’t always accurate though. For my city it’s says the average rent is 1650 for a one bedroom. I had one cancellation and have no reason to believe he wasn't being forthcoming... he paid me even though he canceled ( all on his own; he insisted ) Obviously Canada ( Torronto ) isn't in Europe but like in London, I had a week long stay and not one person flaked or cancelled. It seems to me that people in these places keep their commitments. Edited September 13, 2023 by Guest

Medin
Rent is probably not a good comparison. I always compare the hourly rate of an escort to other professions and an escort earns 2-10x more than nearly every other position. The average doctor (specialist) in the US averages $140/hour as an example. At that rate, I expect a certain level of professionalism (as one would expect from any service provider charging $300+/hour regardless whether that be an oncologist, a plumber or the IT tech that fixes my laptop). Unfortunately that is becoming rare. A better comparison would be overall cost of living. $300 in Jackson or Oklahoma City equates to nearly $900 in Manhattan. https://www.nerdwallet.com/cost-of-living-calculator/compare/oklahoma-city-ok-vs-new-york-manhattan-ny I've been getting quite a few quotes lately in the $400-$500 range which is also why I'm hiring a lot less frequently than I did in the past. I'm all about letting the market dictate the rates but.....

So, original commentary's price range is probably closer to what an escort would pay for a one bedroom. An escort's rent would be even less if the escort shares rent for a two bedroom with a roommate. Medin
