The patient was a military enthusiast who "tripped" and fell onto the 57mm piece of army ordnance, reported The Sun. A source told The Sun: "The guy said he found the shell when he was having a clear out of his stuff. "He said he put it on the floor then he slipped and fell on it."

Reminds me of this story with a similar "excuse":

I've had both foreign and domestic bodies inside my rectum. I can't tell the difference except when size enters into it.😜
