+ sync
I'm curious to know if anyone here knows of a gay bar gathering place for seniors in NYC other than Town House? I have no complaints about the Town House, but it's always good to have options. On East 53rd Street at First Avenue there was the GH Club that I was hoping would survive, but it bit the dust eons ago. + Cock Eyed Optimist and + WilliamM
+ BenjaminNicholas
Don't Tell Mama. 9th Ave Saloon While not a specific gay bar, it's got a pretty strong gay following: The bar at The Russian Vodka Room on 52nd. + sync

That place looks like half the crowd might keel over at any minute. I'm surprised there isn't a proper wheelchair ramp for them. 30somethingsexybear
The west villlage has more of a welcoming vibe for older gentleman. The Monster and Ty's definitely have an older crowd however the Monster has a lot more space upstairs and downstairs and after I'd say 9pm the crowd does skew younger as they have a lot of popular drag shows etc. + sync, + Vegas_Millennial and pubic_assistance
30somethingsexybear
I second 9th ave Saloon. Very gay and the kind of "Cheers" where everyone is welcome and feels welcome so it's a HUGE range of people, a lot of broadway queens, Older guys, 9 to 5 types, Larger body types, older clientele as well. + BenjaminNicholas, thomas, + sync and 3 others

First Chelsea ...then Hells Kitchen...now half crossed the river into Williamsburg . The few gay bars left in the Village all seem to cater to the B list gays . ( And D list ). I haven't seen a young cutie stepping in or out of a gay bar in Village since the 90s. I guess thats a good thing since I have no temptation to enter these places. CheckCar
I’m not a moderator, but I’m still going to suggest that we get back to the OP’s question. I suspect some of the gay seniors in places like The Monster’s upstairs space were among those who fought, organized, and sacrificed for our community. They deserve social spaces that are gay-senior-friendly, and I’m eager to know where those spaces are. Lazarus
I have never been there but have walked by it for years, but Julius in the West Village is still around. + Charlie, + sync, workedout and 1 other
+ Vegas_Millennial
As a 39 year old, who self-identifies with the mentality of a 59 year old, I like Monster and Ty's. They are so friendly. Mix of all types. I don't feel young, nor do I feel old in either bar. + azdr0710
During a recent visit to NYC, I dropped into the 9th Ave Saloon mostly because I'd read Matt and Tim of Adonis had recently bought it, fixed it up, and reopened it.....admittedly, it was about 3:30pm on a Monday and there were only three solo patrons (including me), so there's no way I can judge what it's like on a Friday at, say, 6pm or 10pm.....friendly bartender from New Zealand......very narrow and deep space.....I imagine when it's busy that it'd still be an easy, friendly, unpretentious place....... + ThroatCummer, thomas, + sync and 1 other

30somethingsexybear
Forgot about Julius! Definitely a welcoming spot for older people I'd say after 9pm the crowd gets a bit younger and way more touristy, you may meet a charming European there! Also it's one of the only bars you can get some food at. Their burgers are legendary! + Charlie, kyleham, + sync and 1 other
+ Charlie
Julius was there when I was a teenager, and even then it was considered a place you didn't go into unless you were with a chaperone over 30. kyleham

zzsan32nw
oh yeah i forgot about uncle charlies. Honestly i rather go to the older crowd bars. Bars like HK those gays are too full of themselves . The people who go to West 4 are more down to earth.
