A discussion in the Deli about an escort who calls himself "Lord Byron" led me to wonder if you have met or are aware of other escorts who use the names of famous people. Hispanic escorts who use the name "Jesus" don't count.

I think most escorts want to convey the image of sexiness in their chosen names for the profession. Apart from movie stars, rock stars and stage actors to a lesser extent, other famous people are not usually noted for their sexiness although a few politicians would qualify.

But it would be problematic to adopt these names unless they have already passed into history. For instance an escort could not use the name Brad Pitt without hearing from Pitt's lawyer. And even if they're deceased their heirs might object.

We had an "Oliver Saks" on the forum. Haven't seen him in a while.

I don't think that an escort would be likely to use some of the names that have appeared here as posters, like WSC, Oliver Saks, or Adam Smith, since they don't connote sexual arousal (well, perhaps "Marquis de Sade" would work).

Rhett Butler (since retired) was a Midwest favorite, and oh, so very hot. Why, I do declare, that boy could have easily burnt down an entire city with his smokin’ good looks and southern charm. Damn, Scarlett, I do miss him. Indeed, I surely do.

I hate to tell you, but Rhett Butler wasn't a real person.😉

Rhett Butler was a great moniker to use but an equally sexy star like Marlon Brando's Stanley Kowalski wouldn't work.

Says you. I’d hire "Stanley Kowalski" in a heart beat.

Huge tip for brilliant name choice alone.

Extra huge tip….if he shows up wearing a sweaty wife beater T-shirt.

I changed my mind. I agree with you. The image of the T-shirt did it.

Damn, we gotta work on that Mob Moms pilot 😉

I still recall the basic premise.  All the male member of the mob are either in jail, dead or incompetent.  The matriarch of the family gathers the women together and decides that they will run the family.  They all have loser sons and every son is named Tony.  So the moms take over, and fight the other crime syndicates while doing a RHOTM (Real Housewives of the Mob) on each other.   It is sort of The Sopranos meets RHONY meets Claws.   I see the matriarch played by Cher La Mamma di tutti Mamma.

I wonder if that's the case. What would be the basis? Are the names copyrighted? Surely no one could pretend that anyone would be genuinely confused and mistake the celebrity for the escort. Is there a precedent for such a lawsuit?

Lots of repeats of names. Can't imagine there's an argument to be made unless you're simultaneously using the celebrity's images too.
