Not being able to function and being bed-ridden is not something a 49 year old should experience (or a person of any age, for that matter). I can't imagine getting a 1 dose COVID shot would trigger this in me, but I've been missing work and hating life ever since the following day of receiving the vaccine. I dread what my hospital emergency room bill will be, as they checked for blood clotting, and found none, sent me away with an arthritis pill prescription, and that's where I'm at.

My sympathies for I truly understand you. I've been suffering with sciatica and back pain for many years now. I've been able to stay off pain meds thanks to a very good chiropractor I see regularly. Also the Williams Flexion Exercises help a lot to release the pain of pinched sciatic nerves! Below is a link if you don't already know what that is. Hope you get well soon! ?

My second shot resulted in significant symptoms beginning hours 25/26 following injection through hours 48/50. The most significant- severe aches, fever, fatigue, joint paint, and disorientation from hours 25 to 33. No sciatic nerve pain, though I have touches of that from time to time.

I feared clotting as well since onset was 10 days after my JNJ vaccine...I should have known it was the simpler explanation...sciatica...specifically, piriformis syndrome causing sciatica. I’m icing it right now. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ACUPUNCTURE and electrostim. Chiropractics will help too.

Pot?

Yoga?

Swimming? Tal to your Dr. many choices but now all of them might work.

I suffer greatly from sciatic nerve inflammation as well as spinal stenosis..fibromyalgia with severe arthritis...The pain is excruciating at times..I use ice packs at night to sleep...I've had trigger point injections...nerve ablations...every sort of numbing and invasive inputs...I do take pain meds to cope..I've been to multiple doctors ..had every sort of test at Mayo Clinic...Apparently I will never get any better...but maybe not worse...I exercise..stretch..swim..ride my bike and have massage...a positive outlook helps...sorry for you...

So sorry for your pain, @Smurof. I have suffered from sciatica, and I know how vile the pain can be. Unfortunately, at least in my case, there was never any rhyme or reason as to why it would flare up, or go away - or when.

Bed rest, (when I could), ice, (a bag of frozen peas was my go-to), walking, and if necessary some good pain meds to knock me out at night was my usual treatment plan. Sometimes it would last a day or two, other times a longer period. Again, no rhyme or reason.

I hope your pain lessons, and you recover quickly ??

I would recommend once recovered, you see a specialist that can hopefully help you avoid flair ups in the future.

Sorry to hear you were laid up after your second jab, mate. If I knew you needed a nurse...?

I’m really sorry to hear that, Smurof. My PT told me that she experienced the same thing after the second dose, but with neck/arm pain. I think it resolved.

Would you consider seeing a pain doctor for a steroid injection? That worked for my neck.

@Smurof really really sorry to hear about sciatica. I can only imagine the pain. :(

@Danny-Darko your mentioning of chiropractor reminded me of this scene in QAF!

Now about my sciatic nerve pain, tight hams, and sore glutes....??? ?

Poor HWT! Tight hammies! Sore glutes! Definitely sounds like you need some help working on those areas - some cardio activity resulting in an endorphin release does wonders I’ve heard. ?

Oh yeah, and what was that other thing, the sciatica - yeah that’s it - well the release should help that too.

Call me ?

???

I suffered with sciatic leg pain for years, and sought help from all sorts of doctors from pain mgt to accupuncture to psychiactric. By 2018 my back and leg pain was so bad, I was unable to walk and in a wheel chair, and after finding a non-invasive back specialist it was determined that a back problem I apparently had for years had reached its peak, and surgery was necessary. In conjunction with that, by 2019, I needed a hip replacement, and at that point I was bed ridden and in constant pain because no doctor wanted to issue an RX for pain med.....

In February 2019 I had 8 hr back surgery and fushion at NY Prebysterian Hosp, then rehab, and 6 weeks later I had my hip replacement....with rehab again... It was a long, very difficult road BUT, I have been pain FREE since, and living a normal life.... While my situation may SEEM diff than yours, dont discount you may have had an existing condition, and its just a coincidence that it surfaced after your vaccine ? Its all about finding the RIGHT doctor that is willing to help you and go the distance. Constant pain is awful...there were days I wanted to literally die it was so bad. I understand and empathize with you. I think my point here is to NOT solely focus on the vaccine as a cause of your problem. I wish you the best and will answer any questions in pvt if you have any ?

Google sciatic nerve flossing. It's not a quick fix, but it's an easy exercise to do and won't hurt anything. I noticed a few weeks after I started doing it regularly that some of my constant low-grad pain subsided substantially.

Nothing that a BBC can't solve.

You will forget about sciatica pain ... because you will feel a larger pain inside! ?

I hope it was just a temporary side effect of the vaccine already resolved by now and you're feeling better.

But if not, I remember I got an anti-inflammatory (steroids?) injection and that fixed the issue within a week. Never returned.
