+ EVdude Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 The scripts are generally smart, it has fun twists and turns, and the acting is consistently good. I don't know why but the female investigator's vocal inflections are wonderful. Finished season 1. Great acting! You’d think it would jump the shark and be just too crazy, but they pulled it off. TruthBTold Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 Finished season 1. Great acting! You’d think it would jump the shark and be just too crazy, but they pulled it off. Watch Season 2 (which I am sure you will). A couple of new characters who are great. And still funny.
TruthBTold Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 (edited) Finished Unorthodox. A lot to chew on. Glad I watched it. I also watched Making of Unorthodox, which i highly recommend. Afterwards, I did some internet research to get a better sense of Hasidic Jewish communities in Williamsburg, and then the communities here. Learned some things! I binged Unorthodox and I have to say I really liked it. The acting is really good (especially the lead actress) and the story, while I found it disturbing, is well thought out. It did not necessarily lead to the ending that I expected. While it may have been the one I hoped for, it did not have to move along the way it had to go. There are a few twists and turns along the way. So, do watch it. And as already recommended, watch the "Making Of" documentary appended to it. I was rather amazed that most of the film was made in Berlin (though a lot of it takes place in Berlin any way). And finally, of course, it is worth watching the lead character's Berlin boyfriend. cany10011 Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 On EPIX, i am enjoying Berlin Station. Richard Armitage gets better with age. Such a great show!

TruthBTold Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 And in case you want to know more about money laundering and how reliable various scenes are, here’s a fact check This was great. Educational and entertaining. I like where the narcotic guys have so much money that they have to start burying it or stacking it in rooms. And then there are cases that the buried cases of money begin to rot. I wish I had that problem. Thanks for the clip.
KrisParr Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 “Home Game” - a multi part series on really obscure sporting events around the world. Even if you’re not much of a sports fan, these are very interesting stories. My favorite is the Italian calcio storico- the first episode. Actually, some nice eye candy in that one. Very well done, entertaining, not lengthy, and certainly a change of pace.
+ RJD Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 I was scrolling through the Top 10 in Netflix the other night and came across Gaspar Noe’s Love. I knew nothing about it and was shocked at what I was seeing in the opening scene. A naked straight couple, full erection visible, masturbating each other. I’m no prude and god knows I watch my share of porn, but I never expected to see this on Netflix. I watched the whole movie and there was no shortage of graphic sex, erect penis, and even a close-up ejaculation pointing at the camera. The movie itself is strange. https://www.netflix.com/title/80057969?s=i&trkid=13747225 + Axiom2001 1

Guest NYCRich212 Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Best in Show, Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration, Waiting for Guffman. All excellent Christopher Guests shows with more or less the same terrific cast. Parker Posey nails it in B of S! I’ll recommend: W1A terrific BBC satire. So many accents to get used too, but worth the investment. Also, “Episodes”. About putting together a TV show. Very entertaining. Matt LaBlanc plays the lead and he is excellent and unexpected. enjoy!
MscleLovr Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 I just finished Season 4 of ‘Lucifer’- the Devil becomes a nightclub owner in LA and gets involved with a female LAPD detective. It’s stylish, entertaining and fun. I enjoyed it greatly but I guess it wouldn’t appeal to the religious. Now to watch Season 5…
handiacefailure Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 Two series any gay guy should watch are Hollywood (Patti Lupone and Jim Parsons are great) and The Politician. I like Season two better than one of the politician since Judith Light and Bette are in it and there's a couple shots of Ben Platt shirtless (but they may have been photoshopped or Ben shaved his chest because his chest is smooth in those shots and Ben is a very hairy guy)

On most of the Netflix shows that I have tuned in on there is a function so that you can put in subtitles. That way you can understand through the accents. I have to admit I do it for most shows now British or American. I use them if I need to and skip over them if I don't.
MikeBiDude Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 If anyone is an old time “Karate Kid” fan....the reboot “Cobra Kai” on Netflix is fun. Although it was on YouTube previously, it’s current release is trending top ten on Netflix right now.

It’s an extension of a previous BBC spoof of the London Olympics. Thanks for the reminder about captioning.
