an article just this morning in my local paper indicated the average going rate for "pro" Grindr providers in my home town is US$90.34, but that "YMMV"......

I love that they reported the average in dollars and cents.

Have link by any chance? I'd like to read that article.

well, it was all a joke......I was trying to be a little circumspect/funny and use some irony in trying to explain that there's no way to find an "average" rate......

Well I didn't think it was a normal article. I thought it might be part of an exposé.

I am 2 for 2 on Grindr. Just started using the app few months ago out of curiousity. I am surprised how many young guys contact me to learn more about my profile. I've only met 2 college guys, and both were super fun, in fact, better than most of the "pros" I've met in the last year. Neither requested anything. They deferred to my experience. They were happy, and have hit me up for follow-ups. ;)

I just had my first success story on Grindr and I probably offered more than I had to, but I felt sorry for a college kid with no money willing to do pretty much anything to get some (I have been there before). Plus he said all the right things and offered all the right things to earn a "tip" on top of it, which was impressive since he said he had never been with a generous guy before. But now he's always texting me asking when we are going to hook up again lol. He's gonna bankrupt me

How does @azdr0710's comment = the chair of the House's Intelligence Committee?

You lucky guy, you. ?We've had external proof before that you're, if I may use the term, "hot." This is just adds more fuel to that ?.

So you can turn Grindr off and on? What kind of photos do you put in your profile? I’ve never tried any of these hookup apps so perhaps it’s time to give one a whirl, based on other members’ experiences.

There are two types of subscription: free and paid. With paid you can look at profiles in other cities and, I think, you get more profiles. There's also a super-duper subscription (called "Unlimited" for $173/year) that lets you see who viewed your profile along with some other perks. I bought a year's subscription (called Xtra) for $70/year.

The rules say no nudity or porn in profiles - you can't "look like you're not wearing clothes." No sex toys and sex acts. No "shapes or outlines of genitals." No crotch shots. No "graphic text or emojis around sexual acts."

Most photos are face shots or torso shots - and a lot of blank profiles (no pics). People often send pics of their penises in their private messages.

Permitted: swimwear.

No mention of "drugs or sexual services"

I've had some fair-good luck with Grindr i.e. younger guys sending invites for pay-to-play. It's kinda fun to see all the different types of gay men in your locale (also can be a bit frightening when, as happened to me Sunday as I was staying at a hotel in Indy , when a profile stated that another Grindr member was "50 feet away").

You can check out of Grindr, at will. Also, with a subcription you have a choice of a "fake icon" e.g. "Notes" so people won't see the Grindr icon on your phone.

A wise gentleman once told me that if you do include language (“gen” or “generous”) or emojis (?) in your profile it is easy to get your account banned. Users (especially guys that you don’t respond to or reject) will report your profile, so if somebody message/tap you and you are not interested, block them immediately before they can report you...

Have never done Grindr yet, but wondering if anybody who has it has been in one big room or lobby and found somebody "25 feet away" and you looked up to peer around and saw somebody else looking around and your eyes locked together and some awkward smile ensued???

There's a Korean Spa in Dallas-totally legit as far as I know from 7 years ago. (I've been told entire Korean families will go to these spas for a play day). I found someone on Scruff who was there. He said he just wanted to see who was around-either that or he wasn't interested in me. Also you can often use the apps to find guys staying at hotels.

Kind of happened to me last night in Cincinnati. Dude was a for pay guy with hot photos and a porn career. I wrote, “Let’s go” and he came back with a request for 50% deposit via PayPal. I thanked him and declined. Too bad. He was beautiful and directly across the lobby from me in the hotel bar.

Lots of times in a big hotel you could find someone close by. The interesting thing is on a cruise ship. The last one I was on I was able to see who was also taking the same ship as me as they same people would pop up from each port. Had some conversation with a crew member who was an entertainer and another passenger. Difficult to find any private spots on a cruise ship though.
