im still trying to identify who the "pro"s are on grinder lol

Yeah when I'm home it's a tough find. When I do come across them its usually guys from Rentmen but they charge a much lower rate via Grindr.

150-200. It can take time to find a mutually interested party but I’ve never been disappointed when I have.

I have to say I miss Craigslist. I found a few hot ‘straight jock’ regulars back then.

Yeah usually about that rate and agreed that its tougher to find. At least in my cities. During my current stay in NY its hard to find the type I'm looking for via Grindr.

I too really miss Craigslist so bad :(

In nyc I can never find below $150. Often it is $200 or $250. Some crazy guy asked me for $800 once!

But I have a friend in Boston who at least twice per week, finds a different guy for $60.

Words of wisdom by a professional:

I can't disagree with much of what you're saying, especially if an escort has a string of reviews, here and other places. That's usually more than enough info for a client to make an educated decision.

For a completely new guy or a Grindr/app situation, that's different. As with Craigslist before that, you pays your money, you takes your chances. In the search for the Holy Grail (a discount rate), don't be shocked if you get a discount experience.

So far, this whole thread makes me want to remind guys to be fully aware of their surroundings, have an exit strategy and learn to protect yourself.

In an even more non pro setting than other platforms, you will get anything ranging from $40/60 for gas, food, books, bills, all the way up to $300+ with costs for extras still in play.

I have limited experience with Grindr myself, but a friend has a lot of luck and this describes his experience. Lots of young kids will meet for little money all the way up to guys who cross-market on RM and Grindr (even then their Grindr fee is less than RM).

How does one approach guys on Grindr given the forum isn't a pay for play forum, so to speak?

My experience is that you mostly have to wait for "them" to message "you" about pay-to-play. However, there are certainly a few ways to bait the hook. I've found that the best way is to insert a few "roses" emojis in my profile, perhaps along with a "eyes" and "cucumber" emojis. You might also want to mention "Right Now" as an indicator that you're not there for a date or an LTR. Some guys put "daddy" or "SD" (Sugar Daddy) in their profiles, but it's important not to be too conspicuous as you could get banned (as I was 2x before I learned that prudence and subtlety are virtues in the age of FOSTA/SESTA -- the 2x I was banned I am pretty sure that using "Gen" was the red flag, though they never told me why I was banned.)

As far as making the first move, I've found that "Tapping" is almost useless. Sending a brief message is better. Since messages are supposedly private, I am usually pretty straight forward and just say "you looking for gen?" or "SD here." You usually get a vibe in the other dude's profile e.g. photos are sexually provocative and say "looking for right now." Profiles that describe the person's perfect dinner date or a guy who makes demands (must be fit, looking for Mr. Right) are dead ends.

As far as rates, they're all over the board. You'll often see an escort on Grindr that you just saw on RM - and my experience is this group usually sticks with their RM rate, though negotiating is common. On the other hand, the "amateurs" just want to make a few dollars for the weekend. I frequently have offers of $60 to $80 -- one guy messages me several times a week with "Bring $40" along with a photo of his extremely large tool -- there's no other info ... just "Bring $40." Some real bargains can be had on Grindr but, per usual, there's a lot of catfish in the pond.

I am 2 for 2 on Grindr. Just started using the app few months ago out of curiousity. I am surprised how many young guys contact me to learn more about my profile. I've only met 2 college guys, and both were super fun, in fact, better than most of the "pros" I've met in the last year. Neither requested anything. They deferred to my experience. They were happy, and have hit me up for follow-ups. ;)

Grindr will shut down your profile if you are being too obvious, or if a few guys "report" you

Yeah I try to be careful with that. I don't have it up for a long period. Anywhere from 10-30 mins when I'm in a certain area that I feel has potential. Most times i'm unsuccessful so I remove it from my profile name right away. And I make sure it still isn't up when I go to sleep.
