You still get racist profiles once in awhile, especially near Weho and from visitors who download the app while here (i.e. Aussies).

 

If you Google Kindr Grindr you can read news coverage about it, unsurprisingly from queer black and Asian journalists because white guys aren't subject to it.

Discrimination is very real and I do think Asians have it the worst (I say this being a subset of Asians). I have a friend who worked in product at Grindr and one of the reasons they implemented the Kindr policy and flag options were specifically to address the anti-Asian comments on the app. You can still read vestiges of then on the site Douchebags of Grindr. They're really racist. Be warned.

Part of the problem is that Asians don’t see attractiveness in themselves. They seek validation and acceptance from the ultimate image of an American white man, almost to the point of desperation.

 

On the other hand, apps and dating sites brought out the true colors of people, as they can hide behind a screen, and be the biggest assholes ever, without receiving.

 

What I like specifically about Japanese people in Japan is that they are totally ethnocentric, they don’t care to date, intermingle, or mix with anyone else. lol.

This week a client who happens to be White asked me if I would take him (Im a massuer) even though he is a white client...and he was serious.....(most of my clients happen to be white so of course I took him). Then a Black client yesterday also asked me the same thing...So here I have white guy and a Black asking me if I'll discriminate against them.....Is this really a thing? Why would I? Do clients think I care how much or how little melanin is in their skin? Am I in the twilight zone? Was this just a coincidence? Is this happening to others? What in the hell is going on out there?

 

Not sure how I only saw this thread now. But to answer your question, in my short experience as a client? YES. In fact when I reach out to a provider about a potential booking, I always mention my race early on. And again I'll confirm/ask if my race isn't an issue after the session is booked. I'm a very observant and quick learner, and since diving into this world of "companionship" I've noticed a lot of the new providers and ones around my age are treating the business like Grindr.

 

The whole reason I got into the hiring scene was that after the Craigslist shut down the other options out there (Grindr, Cruising) weren't working for me. In fact since stepping over into the M4M, LGBTQ+ community a few years back its torn me down mentally, ripped whatever self confidence I did have before stepping over and now has me looking to seek some form of therapy in the near future.

 

I'm in my 20s, healthy, workout, good teeth, with a high sexual appetite. But so far in my few years the inclusiveness that's often promoted in the community is a big farce IMO. But anyways that's for another thread I've been thinking to make for some months now but I've held back for the potential pitchforks that maybe thrown my way.
