I've definitely seen ads that offer discounts for student or active duty military and always assumed that was more about the provider figuring they were more likely to be attractive.

Vulgarii reacted to RadioRob in Coming Soon: Reviews for Masseurs
I don't know if folks saw my teaser in the Lounge for the new review site, but with the new system we will have the capability to have multiple categories of things to review.  This will include things such as:

Inside of each category will be items (either a person or a place).  It's basically the thing being reviewed.  Each item depending on what category that it is in can have a set of questions/fields associated with it.  This allows us to ask different questions for each type of item being reviewed.
Within each item will be the ability to have reviews.  Again, since different categories can have different types of needs, I can create different questions for the reviews themselves.  Think of the reviews as descriptions of the encounter.  You will have an item (aka the masseur) and then the item will have reviews that describe member's encounters.
Given the progress that is being made with the new review site, I'm ready to start figuring out what information we want to collect.  This is where I need your help!
I need to collect both the types of categories we want and what questions would be in the category.  For example:
    ITEM INFO
    Contact Info
Ad URL Phone Email Website Physical Info
Age Ethnicity Height Weight Body Build Style Massage
Type (Sports, Deep Tissue, Erotic, etc) Experience (years) Location (In-call, Out-call, etc) REVIEW INFO
Location (City, State, Country) Date of Encounter Session Type (In, Out, etc) Session Length Rate (Price ranges...  100-199, 200-299, 300-399, etc) Would You Hire Again (Rate of 5 stars) Did They Match Description (Rate of 5 stars) Lived Up To Expectations (Rate of 5 stars) Review Details (A text box similar to replying to a post to free-form describe your experience.) I need to do this for both individual masseurs and for spas.  I would anticipate there would be different things you would want to know about a spa versus someone who is freelance. Let me know the types of info you think are critical to ask about both the item (person) and about the encounter itself.

The Velvet Mafia is the real gay Mafia. They're in all the metropolitan cities and aren't just in the entertainment and fashion industries. I got "acquainted" through a doctor I met who lived with a retired journalist turned exec producer that worked in the White House during the Jackie O days and bit after, she moved out.  The most legendary members are dead, well they naturally died of old age, and I won't name names but celebrities that are out, and aren't out, have adjacent properties next to each other, allegedly near the Coachella festival grounds and that's where the parties are. The vast majority of the "entertainment" don't exactly know who the hell these men are and how big of a scene it is. They probably assume they're at some rich old guys house like in Palm Springs.

From personal experience at an elite university,  I can tell you the gay mafia starts young.
They were mainly rich kids who stayed in the closet out of fear of their families' reactions or the possible effects on their career (obviously awhile ago). They'd hook up with each other, join fraternities, and look down on openly gay people.
I couldn't stand them, with the exception of some of them who paid me to write their research papers. Rich kids are hopeless 😏

I have a question that I really need to ask providers.
Is their an informal "tier" of different rates in the U.S. due to race? And how open are people in discussing that?
I ask because I've read comments here about Caucasians making more than minorities. Likewise, I had an Asian provider flat out say that as an Asian, he makes much less than other providers.
I'm not calling anyone racist for their preferences when hiring. I'm just curious, as the vast majority of my partners (hires or dating) aren't Caucasian.

I follow him on Instagram and just saw he’s currently in DC demonstrating or marching for Cuba.  He’s quite involved in activism which I get.  Some of his posts did seem to lean pro Trump (like many Cubans feel) which kinda turned me off.  But still……that body.

We all naturally have different priorities and preferences when getting a massage. I'd love to hear about yours and your favorite masseurs that check all your boxes.
Here are my requirements for a fabulous experience:
    - Competent masseur who knows what he is doing and delivers a thorough, very good to excellent massage that doesn't neglect the glutes.
    - He is at least somewhat hot, gets naked, is OK with being touched during the massage, and is fine with giving you a HE if all indications are that you'd enjoy it 🙂. I am not grabby and don't want or expect things to get sexual, although I don't mind it if the chemistry is really good. I just want to feel comfortable and on a level playing field being naked myself.
    - He is reasonably fluent in English, able to communicate clearly and politely, responds to you within reasonable time, and charges less than $200 an hour.
Yes, they exist, I've encountered at least four over the last 6 months. Maybe I am forgetting someone, I'll be sure to add them if they come to mind.

What I find odd, is that nowadays I'm hearing directly from new clients that sensual means just a slow, soft Swedish massage.

To me, a happy ending is sexual. Anything stimulating the genitals whether or not an orgasm happens, is sexual. It is sensual and it is erotic. I love it when potential clients want to argue that a happy ending isn't sexual or erotic. Whatever.

I think sex is so casual among gay men and is something you can easily get, moreso when you're younger, so that keeps the rates down that clients are willing to pay. There are so many guys getting into the game especially during hard economic times. It's supply and demand and I suppose there will always be a supply now with where society is going.
The same thing is happening with heteros. Sex workers make more money in conservative areas. With the more liberal views about sex, sex workers make much less. I heard a stripper say it "why pay $300 for an escort, when you can just buy a hussie a few drinks and take her home?"
People will counter that argument by saying escorts are a pro at what they do, they can almost guarantee a great experience, and they are discreet and regularly tested...well they're unicorns.

We just have the find the rates that work well for us, and then we have to adapt when it changes.
Escorting is not a career except for some unicorns and legendary pornstar-caliber unicorns, and we have to throw in the towel someday soon.

My clients go to Coachella but for fun and are not looking to hire. Although they are high rollers, they are with friends and it would be awkward for them to disappear for a bit so they hire when they come back from that weekend.
I'll just say that the "velvet Mafia" aka as the Gay Mafia have several properties very close to Coachella festival grounds, and at the parties they have, and they are well known for them and for gathering porn stars, escorts, and young men there, that's where the money is made, if you play your cards right. You can mingle and hook up, some men will pay. There's always some that will, but you can get more money and connections if you develop a friendship and meet the same man again afterwards to really cash in, and you want that to happen because again, the gay Mafia. Screw up though and you can get blacklisted and that's not a joke, but that crowd is very exclusive and small, so it won't really hurt you. There's catty gays on every level.
Generally Coachella is not the place to escort or even massage because most guys that can hire, do not have that on their mind, they will hire you when they get back, and they are more likely to casually hook up with a festival-goer.

It's a giant gray area with no agreed upon LINE between the possibilities.
In general a massage is just a massage if it's THERAPEUTIC
SENSUAL can ( but does not NEED to ) include a bit of more personal touch therapy, maybe nudity, some titillating teasing and even the possibility of a happy ending, but NONE of that is guaranteed under this definiton.
EROTIC for most people does mean there is more likely nudity, more personal touching and the expectation of an orgasm, but again this is different from provider to provider, so everything needs to be navigated.
Most important thing to remember is that a masseur is NOT an escort. So you should not ASSUME that sexual favors are part of anyone repertoire, until you discover that your masseur IS ACTUALLY AN ESCORT advertising as a masseur.
It's all very confusing and unfortunately NO ONE can tell you for sure where the lines are drawn. You just need to start exploring and be happy when you manage to cross a line somewhere and enjoy the results.
    Good luck.🥳

It's offensive when prospective clients ask me if I'll be erotic with them and if I offer a discount.
It offends me when clients mention their regular masseur is on vacation. That's not info that I need to know. On one hand that could be my opportunity to steal the client but only clients that I never would want to see again ever say that.

It's offensive when clients comment on why I don't have a Spanish surname because they think I'm Latino and forget that this country is a melting pot.
It's offensive when clients ask me why I don't speak Spanish. I don't have to speak it and it's no one's business why.
It offends me when clients mention they were m0lested as k!ds and it's some pity party like I'm their shrink.
It's offensive when clients will come in and rave about socialism and universal basic income because of some crap they heard on the way over on NPR. I was named after a relative that was killed in a communist country and usually Americans of my particular demographic do not enjoy hearing about socialism.
It offends me when clients will talk about politics and say something assuming I'm also a liberal democrat.
It offends me when clients talk about cheating on their wives, but I get a kick out of hearing the different reasons they use to justify it.
It offends me when clients talk about getting a cheaper massage elsewhere like an Asian spa or an $8 massage in Thailand. I like to respond with a very very crude joke when I hear that.

Part of the job is to just listen and let the client vent, and pretend to be interested. At this point I just don't care so I respond back based on how I feel.
