  1. I have lived in the Bay area since 1997. While parts of SF have declined, the larger Bay area and the suburbs are thriving...especially the marine county, the peninsula, the south bay (silicon valley, san jose) , east bay suburbs like Walnut Creek, San Ramon, Danville etc.

Bay area is still attractive for many reasons .. the cool summers are very pleasant ..even more so as I read about TX and AZ heat waves. The natural beauty of the coast, the mountains, the giant redwoods, the fog rolling in through the golden gate and the hills, the multiethnic population, great produce and fruit, pretty much every cuisine under the sky ..all still take my breath away.

SF city proper is a very small part of the greater Bay area but gets a lot of coverage in the media. The homeless, the drug users have always been concentrated in certain parts of that small city.  The downtown got impacted due to those parts being close to the downtown and remote work due to the pandemic.

Next time you talk about SF think about the Google search you did, the iphone you used, the zoom call you hopped on, the Tesla you drove etc . All these are the result of the ingenuity and hard work of the SF Bay area residents. This kind of technology and innovation used around the world does not come from a broken, lawless society.  The homeless drug users and the mentally ill in the city is a very small and not particularly significant part of the equation that has been widely exaggerated by the conservative media to portray progressive policies as the devil.

Sorry to say it but there’s just so much rampant homophobia in this message board and it is reflected in the post above.

How can a homosexual be homophobic? It's my first hand experience as a proud homosexual. I wanted to say it as a word of caution to people spending $$$ in search of love in unlikely places in response to the OP. Gosh queens are so judgemental these days! 🙄

  3. In the gay world, it's best to hang on to your money and a pet if you like one. Gay friendships, fuckbuddies, boyfriends, and even husbands are temporary. They will all eventually leave you. Best to hold on to your money and keep moving to the greener pastures fast. Unfortunately i learned this much later in life.

  4. With the new rates, i feel like my fortunes have changed and i am no longer in the class that can afford to regularly outsource companionship and sexual needs to a provider. Surprising thing is how the fortunes changed in just a year or so. Same thing with hotels, airfares etc. And i didn't even lose my job or had any other major losses. May be I should have taken one of those PPP loans the govt doled out. That would have kept a provider or two employed 🙂

When it came down to actually setting a time to meet he went silent.

My experience was identical. Lotsa back and forth on chat, with no particular courtesy from his side. Finally we decided to meet and just before decided time he goes silent, and much later sends a message about his body not cooperating.

  6. I might brag about watching a live Kevin Spacey performance or one of his good movies. Nothing to brag about sleeping with him, unless one is into smelling, not his crotch, but a juicy role and the associated $$$ he might hook me them up with.

Unfortunately, I've met many escorts who retired with no money at all because they thought the "gravy train" would last forever and one day it was over.

The gravy train lasts only a wee bit longer in other professions. For example, go to any tech company and you will have hard time finding a staff member over 40.

I think sex work is more honest than gold digger men/women who marry for money. It's as simple as eating out. You don't want to or can't cook at home, you eat out. You don't have a car or don't want to drive, you hire an Uber. You don't have a partner at home for companionship/sex tonight, you rent one!

  8. So the Gilgo beach killer, the BTK killer and several others are motivated by sexual sadism. Torturing another human being for sexual pleasure is beyond my comprehension. I was trying to find what evolutionary factors lead to this type of proclivity in some humans. These days there is a trend to gender-identify and raise a child according to his/her/their gender-proclivity rather than the physical gender. Similar to that I wonder if society could identify sexual sadists early on and put them in some program precrime. I also wonder what percentage of population has similar fantasies, but does not act upon them.

  9. There is something about a real human performing that keeps us going back to watching plays and movies. For the movies, too much CGI is always a turn off for me. I dont think AI will replace actors and acting. Same thing with music. Synthesized music / voice is good for a few minutes, but we still long for real instruments and real human vocals.

  10. I think the tread is interesting. I got to read many different aspects of the issue. This is the only place where a topic like this can be discussed from all angles. It's not like NYT or WSJ or CNBC is going cover it.

Those who are tired of the topic, there are plenty of other threads to read on this forum.

Obvious solution: We need to import more escorts from China.

That is actually the 'bingo' ! Big corporations have kept US salaries from rising too high by importing foreign workers (e.g. H1B visa workers in the IT sector - although outwardly the reason given for these special skills visa is 'not enough STEM grads in the US).

While we do get seasonally traveling Brazilians, missing lately from RM are eastern europeans, russians, and ukrainians who helped keep the competition up. But the war has disrupted that flow.

  12. I think it depends on how one gets into the biz. In the west (and by that i mean the US mostly), when it comes to guys, i believe they have a choice. Escorting is less work for more $$. Some get into this to support their drug habit, others truly enjoy this, some like older men and the attention they get, and a few others simply monetize their regular sex life that involves many sexual partners. Also, in the gay/bi/MSM community the attitude toward m4m sex is more casual. So, i do not think it is particularly traumatizing compared to, say, a woman who is trafficked from Eastern Europe or Asia and is forced into this.

  13. I met Dan alone a few times in NYC and LA in 2019. I also had Dan and Zach together in LA in 2019. At the time both were regularly priced. I know inflation is high right now, but it didn't go up by 300% or more since Dan is now quoting 1k for an hr and Zach 3k.

Dan is super nice guy next door type, but has limits clearly stated in the ad. Between my first visit with him in NYC and last one in LA, his looks had deteriorated somewhat which made me think if he was doing some drugs. I like him for his good nature among other things. However his limited offerings definitely dont deserve 1k per hr.

Zach is not great looking in person. I have posted about him elsewhere on this forum. Of the two, Dan is probably more straight. Zach, for all his 'I am the macho str8 guy and deserve 3k per hr' attitude seemed to actually enjoy taking a few fngrs in. He is definitely not worth 3k an hr.

    3) I find a variety of men attractive. I don't care about looks. Guys from any race or ethnicity. I tend to like guys who are skinny, toned or muscular. Just want someone with a great cock (7" or more I guess?) and a nice ass.

For someone claiming to be not into physical looks, you are pretty much expecting everything to be perfect. You are gonna have a tough time finding all that in one guy who is also willing travel to a remote suburb.

Typically suburbs around big cities are starved of providers who tend to congregate toward the gay center of the main city. For example if you have 100% chance of meeting a guy in West Hollywood, then it goes down to about 30% just 25 miles away in the Orange County even if you are willing to shell out more $$ for travel.

  15. Welcome! I felt the same way 2-3 yrs ago when i found CoM.  In my college days, before the internet became widely available and thus turned into a cesspool that it is today, the Unix USENET newsgroups used to have polite discussions among erudite participants. This forum is like that. Who knew 30 yrs later it'd take my fellow johns to bring my college days back to me in more ways than one.
