thedanNYC got a reaction from claym in Massage in NYC during Phase 4+
This is not quite right. In the simplest of terms, you become infected by breathing in the virus (which is why masks are recommended) or by bringing the virus into your body via contaminated hands (which is why washing your hands is helpful). Social distancing, which you obviously can't observe during the massage, helps lower the infection risk even more because you're less close to people breathing out the virus and to contaminated objects you might touch.

So if you and the masseur wear a mask at all times, then you're reducing the risk of breathing in the virus and becoming infected. If you and the masseur wash your hands before and after the massage, and don't touch your faces, then you're reducing the risk of bringing the virus into your body via contaminated hands. Hand washing is not a magic ritual, so the fact that you're not washing your hands every 5 minutes during the massage has no bearing on the effectiveness of those recommendations (and doesn't mean you've broken a "triad"). And the fact that you can't social distance should make it more critical to observe the mask and hand-washing recommendations, not serve as justification for ignoring them.

If y'all need to get a massage, have at it. But please consider doing as much as you can to lower your risk of getting infected and potentially getting others infected too.

Nope, I'm not ditching condoms. STDs are largely curable, but I'm not looking to end up casually gobbling antibiotics like they're candy.

To me, this doesn’t seem realistic at all. Instead it sounds like a rather romantic notion. (As an aside, does your chosen screen-name reflect that you are indeed lonely?)
So how many times have you met? More than 50? More than 100? And are these only occasions of ‘dinner, bed & breakfast’? Or have you been on trips with him and spent 1-2 weeks in each other’s company?
I don’t see the age-difference as a barrier to romance (I myself have a much younger partner and we’ve been together for several years). But you have a number of significant obstacles to surmount. For instance,
    1. do you speak his mother-tongue very well?
    2. are his educational attainments sufficient for him to have a decent career in your home-city?
    3. do you have plenty of money to support him while he is getting established? (I’m not talking about the extra costs of feeding and housing him but rather his monthly allowance (say $1000 in a big city), his phone and gym bills, possibly a car etc)
    4. is your home large enough? (Possibly his hobbies and interests may differ from yours, say he goes to bed much later than you, or plays loud music etc)
If you are serious about this @lonely_john, I urge you to take a trip with him and spend an entire month together. If you can’t enjoy that amount of time with him, consider how a couple of years will seem…

I don't know about all these newer means of transferring money to recipients in third countries but I have used Western Union and it is great because it doesn't require the recipient to have banking contacts, which can be an issue in third world countries. Even in the US it works well as their offices are conveniently located in large cities like San Francisco.

I have no problem with this either. But I'm a gay adult with no kids.

But if I had been watching Family Feud with my very own family on a Thursday at 8 p.m. only to have my little Cindy's eyes assaulted by a man's big bulge, which I'm sure he knew was on full display and which appears to be fighting for its life trying bust out of those pants, then maybe I'd have a problem with this. This is America, and my little Cindy has a constitutional right to not find out that penises exist until she's at least 25 years old or until one gets her pregnant at 15, whichever comes first.

thedanNYC reacted to RadioRob in Introducing "Ask a Moderator"
In the past, when you've had a question that was to be posed to the moderator team, we've asked you to use the Contact Us form on the bottom of the site.  This created a ticket within an internal system that moderators could use to reply to you via email.
While the system worked, it also left something to be desired.  It was separated from the flow of the site and replies could only be done via email.  As a result, I've added a new forum called "Ask a Moderator".  It can be found on the bottom of the forum lists.
What's special about this forum is that members can only see topics they make.  Meaning if you have a question that should be seen by the moderators only, you can post there.  Moderators will be able to see everything and can respond.  That forum will always appear to have no new topics in it unless it's created by you enabling private/secure communications with the entire moderator team.  While we love chatting with you via Private Message, if it's something that is related to the entire team, we would ask you use this tool so we can all see/respond.
As this uses the normal forum tools, you can follow topics and receive notifications of new replies, etc.
The Contact Us link will remain in the bottom of the site's navigation menu as it's the only way for guests and non-registered members to contact us.  (Since you can only see your own posts, it means you have to be a member to see it.)

Not at all. You said the Austrian government wasn't relying on science when choosing to mandate the use of N95s, and I pointed out that they in fact had relied on science given that you explained that N95s are as effective as surgical masks. In other words, they chose an effective mask type.

I conceded the fact that it is fair to be against choosing the more expensive option, but that has nothing to do with science. That's a separate issue. That's all I'm saying.

Just to close this loop, 62% of voters backed the Covid law. So it will remain in force.
A rejection of the Covid law would've have certainly crippled the government's ability to manage the pandemic, especially because the current requirement to show a corona certificate for indoor activities (e.g., indoor dining, gyms) would've been struck down.

Yes, of course it was a joke. You displayed something called common sense.

What's foolish and sad is wasting time calling a comment foolish and sad, especially a comment that was not directed at you.
As suggested above, "expensive" and "rich" are relative terms. So you might think that buying a model X doesn't suggest someone is "rich", but someone else can think that buying a model X suggests someone is "rich". I hope that venting that nasty comment, whic doesn't even make a point that invalidates my post/joke, made you feel better about whatever issues you had going on yesterday.

I know. And my comment didn't say anything to the contrary in any case.
