Fascinating.  It must have been an acrimonious separation because while they have not completely scrubbed each other from their IG histories, "Jack" and "Joe" no longer follow Mike on IG and vice versa so they are also no longer tagged in each other's pics.

I have never really understood this kind of gossip.  Unless someone is being outed who is otherwise a homophobe -- particularly a homophobe in a position to help enact anti-gay laws -- doesn't the person deserve privacy and a right to tell their own story whenever and however they want?  Even if it's just gossip about someone's sexual activity and not their sexual orientation, I don't see what business it is for other people to discuss.
I get the "wish fulfillment" aspect of it, but if I was someone famous I know I wouldn't want people who don't even know me gossiping about my sex life.

No attempt to ingratiate myself, but I figure I can at least mention it.

Some times I’ll say things, and it may come across unintended. Or it’s meant to just be a figurative reference to something. It doesn’t necessarily mean “all” or everyone. It’s only as it applies to particular scenarios I’m discussing.
Other thing being, I’ve been going thru a difficult time in my mid 30s…and there’s been a lot of ambivalent and borderline toxic people in/out of my circle. There’s no reliability in my “fuck buddies”, I haven’t had a legit boyfriend now in years (not that I can’t be whole without one but: if I did have one, I could subtract fuck buddies out the equation), feeling incompatibility with where I reside, and family has been working my nerve.

Add to it often missing/losing clients because I can seldom take short notice bookings, that many in my area seem to desire. Not to mention the almost weekly passive aggressive kind of behavior that comes thru my phone (yesterday had someone tell me $250 is “too much to pay for some dick”) Which I know is typical opinionated tactics because I was blessed with twice that amount the next day.
Had another telling me “I’ll pass” when I mentioned I couldn’t see him right now, but could later on tonight (my ads all specify couple hours or more notice). Wasn’t sure if he passed because of that or my rates, but not sure what he passed on in the 1st place because he contacted me first. I wasn’t propositioning him 🤷🏾‍♂️
The main way to get a break from these things lately is to travel, but as I’ve discussed before: that isn’t without hurdles of its own. But it’s been helpful.
Dealing with this regularly, I find it makes me want to vent more and post things some may feel comes off negative. But I told someone the other day: By all means offer advice and suggestions where you see fit. If I can implement it, great. If it can’t be applied to a particular situation: thanks but, don’t let it get you down.
But going forward, I’ll try to contribute more to reading/answering other’s threads and questions instead.

IMHO, it depends on the provider.
There are guys who will flake on you in a heartbeat. However, there are guys who honor what they set up with you.
Years ago, I set up an appointment (ahead of time) with a well known porn actor. The day of the meeting, hours before the scheduled time, he let me know we were not going to meet. He flat out told me he set up a porn shoot that morning and needed to fly out. No apology, no remorse.
On the flip side, a provider who've I been seeing a few times a year now has been one of the most reliable guys I've met in this hobby. He has done porn and has an onlyfans. We had set up a weekend and by happenstance a guy he wanted to shoot content was going to be in town the same time he was with me. We talked previously about how much he wanted to shoot with this guy. So I offered to let him go shoot content with the guy. I wouldn't count it against our time (since I told him he could). He told me no. He said it was sweet of me to offer but he was there with me and enjoyed being with me. He has been a very stand up guy from the moment we met.
Both the escorts in my examples were in their mid to early 30s. I would say it's not necessarily an age thing.

MAL is an event which can only be understood in attending.  No written word can quite describe the debauchery which one might encounter  and or participate in doing.  I attended about 5 of these Forum Mettups including the first one at Annies for Brunch.  The weather was actually quite nice and the the fellowship was refreshing.  The others I attended were always a fun weekend but the number of attendees waxed and waned.  I was one that tried to Nate to get it off the ground again in 2022 without success.
Some of us recall the most scandalous and controversial occurrence in all the forum meetings occurring during an early MAL meeting.  Ah the drama.  It had everything one could want in a scandal and there was a substantial hold over after the weekend was over.  Do not contact me for details, because unlike other orifices of other people that weekend, my lips are sealed.

Thanks for the advice.  I'm ahead of the game on my retirement contributiins, having contributed 30%-50% of my gross salary every year in my 20s, and over 25% of my gross salary every year in my 30s, all to Roth's.  Most of my debt is low interest 2%-3% mortgage and temporary credit card offers, so I had been just piling my salary into Roth's instead of paying down debt.  Now that I have some debt at over 8% interest, I want to aggressively pay off that 8%+ debt before I go back to funding my Roth's again.

+ m_writer reacted to Bokomaru in Credit card debt hits 1 trillion! How much do you owe?
What’s annoying about the article posted on this thread is that it doesn’t make clear that the debt numbers quoted are debt on which interest is being paid. Don’t assume. There’s a lot of sloppy journalism in the world.
Newsflash: when we charge something to a credit card, that *is* debt, even if it’s being paid off in full each month.

As an aside, @Vegas_Millennial I urge you, if your loans are low or no interest, to consider starting up your Roth or 401k contributions again. The tax loss incurred (now or in the future) could well outweigh the interest payments on the debt.

+ m_writer reacted to samhexum in A breakthrough in the fight against drug-resistant bacteria
Scientists in Switzerland have announced the discovery of a new class of antibiotics shown to be effective against deadly, drug-resistant bacteria.
The antibiotic, called zosurabalpin, works by blocking a bacterial molecule called lipopolysaccharide (LPS), which is responsible for creating the outer membrane that protects a harmful bacteria, Acinetobacter baumannii.
Acinetobacter is a “gram-negative” bacteria, which means it is resistant to most antibiotics and other drugs.
It can cause infections in the blood, lungs, urinary tract and other parts of the body, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
In animal studies, zosurabalpin successfully killed drug-resistant strains of Acinetobacter.
The research, conducted at Roche Pharma Research & Early Development in Switzerland, was published in the journal Nature on Jan. 3.
“This new class of antibiotics prevents bacteria from creating their outer membrane, which provide structure to the bacteria and help them survive in harsh environments and cause infection,” Kenneth Bradley, the Switzerland-based global head of infectious disease discovery at Roche, told Fox News Digital via email.
Without the ability to transport LPS — the bacteria die.
“The new molecule overcomes the existing drug-resistance mechanisms that the currently available antibiotics are failing to address,” Bradley said.
This is the first time in over 50 years that a new class of antibiotic has been identified to treat infections by gram-negative bacteria, he noted.
    Zosurabalpin specifically targets Acinetobacter.
“The specificity of zosurabalpin is due to the unique way in which it binds to the drug target in these bacteria,” Bradley said.
“Discovery of the mode of action of zosurabalpin in Acinetobacter may enable the identification of other drugs that work in the same way in other antibiotic-resistant bacteria,” Bradley said.
The finding is especially significant, given that resistance to antibiotics has been on the rise in various gram-negative bacteria for several decades, he said.
“Any new antibiotic class that has the ability to treat infections caused by multi-drug-resistant bacteria such as carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) would be a significant breakthrough,” he added.
Michael Lobritz, the Switzerland-based head of infectious diseases at Roche, referred in a press release to antimicrobial resistance as a “silent pandemic.”
“Over the next 30 years, it is projected to claim more lives than those taken by cancer today, according to the report of the economist Jim O’Neill,” Lobritz said.
Dr. Marc Siegel, clinical professor of medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center and a Fox News medical contributor, agreed that the growing resistance of gram-negative bacteria is a “huge problem.”
“Our last line of defense for decades now in the hospital has been the carbapenem drugs, specifically Imipenem and Mirapenem,” he told Fox News Digital.
“But now there is an increase of carbapenem-resistant strains — including carbapenem-resistant Acinobacter baumannii, or CRAB — which are very difficult to treat.”
Siegel also acknowledged the importance of the newly discovered zosurabalpin.
“It interferes with a lipid transport mechanism at the surface of the bacteria,” he said. “This is very important, as there are now millions of deaths a year worldwide due to antibiotic resistance.”
Zosurabalpin has only been tested in animals so far, Siegel noted, with human trials underway.
Acinetobacter infections are most commonly seen in hospital patients, mainly affecting those who are on ventilators, have surgical wounds, are in intensive care units or have catheters, according to the CDC.
Those with lung disease, diabetes or weakened immune systems are at a higher risk of infection.
The bacteria can spread from person to person or via contact with contaminated surfaces.
Acinetobacter baumannii, along with other gram-negative bacteria, is tracked by the CDC as part of its Emerging Infections Program.
Looking ahead, Siegel said he expects that artificial intelligence will help speed up the process of developing new antibiotics and make it “more effective and streamlined.
Zosurabalpin is currently in a phase 1 clinical trial, which will evaluate the “safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics” of the molecule, according to the researcher.
“These data, as well as data from future pivotal phase 3 clinical studies, would be needed to determine the safety and efficacy profile of the molecule,” he added.
The discovery of zosurabalpin, which Bradley calls a “scientific breakthrough,” will help researchers learn more about the construction of bacterial membranes, knowledge that could enable new drugs to kill bacteria.
The hope is that this finding could help eventually to fight other drug-resistant bacteria.

I met a friend for lunch and a beer or two at a food court, and now I'm cooking spaghetti while surfing on my computer. Will watch a movie afterwards. But it's cold and staying at home with everything I need and want, warm and safe, is worth a lot more than staying in a crowd and watching a ball drop while partying.
I also found that celebrating in the day on New Year's Eve is a lot more pleasant and less likely to get into a car accident (though if I am out, I leave immediately after 12:00 A.M. because the people from bars do not come out until the bars close around 2:00 A.M. to 3:00 A.M.).
Surprisingly, I went to the gym at 9:00 A.M. this morning thinking it wouldn't be too crowded, but unfortunately, it was. I belong to 24 hour Fitness and during the COVID pandemic, they closed a few locations but the number of memberships remained the same. With the coming New Year, I'll go tomorrow morning early after breakfast, but I'm not looking forward to the New Years resolution people coming to the gym and taking up everything. It'll get to the point that I'll have to come to the gym at 8:00 or 9:00 P.M. at night to get a comfortable workout. I guess due to COVID, people realized how much they missed gyms and decided to not take their memberships for granted.
