I find it somewhat difficult to sympathize with the poor man. My doctor once told me that mine had become abnormally large, after he'd reviewed the results for a suspected hyperactive thyroid.
I mean, finally I have a piece of my anatomy that can be legitimately called "abnormally large" and it's my thyroid. Guess I lucked out that it didn't spread south.

^This is your opinion. It doesn’t apply to all providers. Maybe some, sure. Many of us take the no negotiating stance and stick to it. It costs me business to operate this way, but then again, I want clients who value me as much as I do. That’s a net positive in my book.
Good for you when you find mutually beneficial arrangements through negotiation, but I wouldn’t characterize this approach as the way the world of hiring works. It’s mixed.

One thing folks don’t think about so much (I assume) is how flexible are the rates in different cities. 
I know the cultural bias in this forum is “no negotiating! So unclassy!” But that’s not how the world works. So another aspect is how flexible are prices from the initial quote. I find NYC can seem higher than other cities at the start of a conversation but can become equalized or even lower given the huge range of options here. “Take it or leave it” and “I know my value” type positions are fine in theory and in sales training classes but don’t often work in practice. “Value” is what the market allows both sides to settle on after they take some time to see what is really out there.

That's usually the second of three questions Bozo asks when booking a provider.
It comes right after, "Do you accept expired Bed, Bath, and Beyond coupons?"
And right before, "Do you validate parking?"
There is nothing wrong with asking a provider for a discount. It is not rude or demeaning, and should be offered as part of every provider's business model.
Bozo has observed numerous ads where the provider offers discounts for midweek hookups or morning appointments. Ostensibly, this is when business is slow. It is a shrewd business decision. It attracts clients who otherwise would have no interest in your services. Isn't it better to make some $$, then none at all? Many businesses offer discounts. Senior citizens get movie, hotel, and airline discounts; reduced fare to ride public transportation; and discounts at Costco, McDonalds, etc. Young, good looking people receive reduced admission at many saunas and clubs, and women get discounts at many bars (Ladies Night). 
For the provider out there that doesn't offer discounts, it is his loss. He will be losing out to the masseur/escort that does. Just an example of the entrepreneurial spirit that built this county.
