It makes sense, but it's also incredibly sad to read.
I spend time with guys who might not be in the same looks/body league as me, but the way you genuinely interact with someone makes all the difference.
If you don't act like hired help, people around you won't give a shit. 
The bigger issue is how someone deals (or doesn't deal) with their own mental hangups.

I wouldn't say they're 'in demand,' but being a great actual escort requires a lot more intellect, conversational skill, eye for detail and organization.
It's not something every guy can do, which is why many escorts are best left hired for a single hour at a time.
A gent who's able to effortlessly combine the two has cracked the code:  A guy who's fun in bed, but also mentally stimulates you as well.
 

This might work for a subset of escorts who want to work shorter, hourly frames of time, but if you want to earn career money, I don't know if this is an ideal way to go.
You never put your client on the spot with a focus group:  It ruins what should have been a fun time spent by bringing it back to business.  You can more easily email these kinds of questions later, if necessary.
Guys- at least the men I see- aren't hiring me to be reminded that they're paying for my service.  They want to relax, vacation, enjoy, cut loose and simply have a friend with them who makes it all flow and feel easy.

Keeping your longtime clients at a lower rate as your standard rate increases, more appropriate.  
That said, clients have to prove they're long-term and how long that period is would only be something the escort can figure out.
Like a good blackjack player strategically increasing their bet, an escort needs to know when to take advantage of his best years and increase his rate.

I still remember my first client, back when I was just a young(er) thing. I had a severe case of imposter syndrome, and wondered whether I could really carry this off. Would someone actually pay me for this? Not only did he say he had a good time, but also said I was not charging enough. That seemed like a good confirmation.
Initially I was advertising erotic massage, but after the first few massages I realized I really liked the sex part better. I know masseurs who say the exact opposite, so some of this is figuring out what you really enjoy. For me, I decided I wanted to offer escort services, and I really enjoy it.
It can take a while to get traction as well. New and fresh will have appeal, but others will wait around until they've seen your listing for a while. So it's important to keep the listing going for a while so that potential clients will be thinking of you over time. Don't be alarmed if things take a bit of time to get going, and as the saying goes, don't quit your day job just yet. On Rentmen you need to get at least the Gold subscription, as nobody will see you in a crowded market if you have a Basic listing. Signing onto a sponsor listing can also really broaden your visibility.
On the other hand, you may be a wild success right out the gate, and then you'd have the issue of how to manage your time and not get burned out. I've known some really busy guys, and being able to manage the volume has been an issue for them. Or if you're keeping your day job and trying to accommodate a busy hiring schedule, that can be stressful too so put some thought into how to balance things so you're in a good space for your clients and for yourself.

A referral is a big plus for me.  I have a couple guys from here and RM that exchange notes.  It's worked so far.

You either make the decision to have a work/life balance or you don't.
For years, I lived and breathed escorting.  I worked 28 of 30 days a month, most of that flying from one client to another.
It worked through my 20s and 30s.  I bounced back quick, never got tired, kept a smile on my face.
Now I'm 40.  I listened to my body and pulled back.  I take more time for me.  I vacation from my vacation.  I pick my battles.
Money is great, but at some point you have to prioritize your well-being. 

As long as you stay in the French Quarter you'll be okay.
