After WW2, when the returning servicemen flooded big cities like NY, LA, SF, and Chicago--and Garland's emotional roller-coaster became something that cautiously-out or still-closeted gays identified with--the phrase lost its party-crashing meaning and took on the larger meaning encompassing all gays.

I’m older than @PhileasFogg and I regularly see two twinks, 25 and 23. They think I’m in my early 50s lol. Any sense of age difference is utterly absent.

A significant number of twinks are attracted to older men, and these relationships are often characterized by mutual attraction and reciprocal benefit.  As long as they are of age - I don't think you should be worried or concerned at all.  Go for what you enjoy!

I’m putting this thread in here as the observance of the centenary of Marilyn Monroe’s birthday is a look back at the influence she had as an historical figure, an Icon for the ages.
While she didn’t directly influence gay culture, it is noteworthy that on her June 1st birthday this year, dozens of gay men dressed as the blonde bombshell descended on Palm Springs, the gay mecca in the desert, to pay her homage.  
I can only think of one other figure in American culture who inspires this kind of cult worship by dressing as look alikes and that is Ernest Hemingway in Key West. 
Marilyn broke the mold for actresses in the 1950’s by embracing her sexuality and carving a new image of the blonde sex bomb. Jean Harlow in the 30’s was a precursor but was repressed by her religion and the times. Also her films were black and white.  Mae  West was another but the censor clipped her wings and she had to resort to comic innuendo. 
Anyway in the button down ‘50’s the world was ready for  a Monroe in America and Bardot in France. She will be remembered 100 years from now, of that I am certain.

You are not alone - there are a lot of people who get pleasure by giving pleasure.

I can see how one could read the original post that way.  The original post used color as a descriptor, but one could also focus the question on primarily being turned on by men who perform only the traditionally masculine role in sex, but losing interest if one learns the masculine persona hides a man who has performed the traditionally feminine role.  Whether the race assigned at birth or the race one identifies as (if different than the race assigned at birth) compliments the traditionally masculine or feminine sexual role all plays a part.  Just look at all the posts in the Deli or Spa sking for recommendations specifically for asian feminine twinks or latin day-laborer-type masculine hunks.
In my experience, I find that a cis man who has previously taken a dick up the ass makes a better top than one who hasn't.

Having lost my virginity in college, I constantly had sexual encounters that were focused on lust and raunchy sex.  Once I started hiring, it was nice to be appreciated for something more than just my body... My wallet  💰 

I had my first sex with a man when I was 17, but I didn't start hiring until I was in my late 30s, and I never did it regularly until I was too old to get it any other way. I finally stopped hiring when I actually lost interest in doing it any longer. I don't think it changed my life in any way, except that turning sex into a commercial transaction made it easier to get what I wanted when I wanted.

For some of us hiring is a special occasion - and sometimes to fit it into our life with our husbands / partners the timing has to be critical.
So delays are annoying.
My most recent hiring experience, he said up front that he was not going to be able to make the time, as I was on my own in a city hotel that was good.  We settled on a time, he was operating out of a serviced apartment in a big block, I go there, messaged him and he said he was not quite ready but would message me when he was, there were places to sit where it was not obvious so that was fine.  When he did message me to say he was ready, the session was amazing.  He was not a clock watcher and we spent a long time snuggling on the bed as our cum dried, talking.  This will be a repeat.

Considering the fact that I was 41 and  a total virgin-hadn't even french-kissed someone, and didn't want to be gay (something I still struggle with-but I'm more accepting now than I thought I'd ever be), hiring allowed me to lose my virginity.

But hiring for me had its bad side too. It frequently did a number on my self-esteem knowing that as nice as most of the guys were, they wouldn't be there if I weren't "employing" them. For someone who lived a pretty much solitary life except for times with escorts, that just reinforced the idea that I could only have 'paid for' friends. 

This is why my "box" mattress sits directly on the floor and not on a bedframe.  The standard bedframe is not equipped to hold a King size mattress with a half-dozen men thrusting at once.
