  1. Your math is somehow not factoring in the fact that I was aiming to book 2-3 separate appointments over an extended weekend, that I did book two appointments, and that I currently have provisional plans for a future meetup with the one who was out of town on the weekend in question.

But, sure, everyone -- on both sides of the equation -- maneuvers the uncertainties of this hobby in their own way...

  2. Just now, NYXboy said:

I would suggest that reaching out to 6 different providers is probably why they don't respond.

being inundated with fishing enquires rather than bookings would be tiresome.

I didn't spam RM advertisers. Over a series of days, I sent out a handful of brief specific queries about future availability. That is all. I was prepared to hire any or all of them for separate appointments, though -- based on prior experience -- I anticipated that only two or three would actually come through as potential actual bookings. And that proved to be the case.

You might have better a yield rate on initial queries and, if so, I suspect we'd all welcome the opportunity to learn from the wisdom of your experience.

  3. I anticipation of a recent hiring weekend in NYC I reached out -- via text -- to a total of six gents over a couple days. My ask was "Do you expect to be in town and available on these dates?" (about two weeks from the days I was texting). In reply...

    • two offered no reply at all
    • one confirmed he would be away that weekend, in an exchange was pleasant and direct and confirmed my continued interest in this provider
    • one said he might be available but wouldn't know until a few days before, in a manner that was fine but didn't stir my further interest
    • two (one of whom I had booked some while back) said they would definitely be available; both were friendly and flirty in their exchanges, with the new-to-me gent being unusually gregarious, funny, and responsive...

In my followup exchanges with the four who did reply (including the gent who was not available), I asked "how far in advance do you prefer to book"? All four gave their answer in a way that gave me a clear vibe/impression on whether/how I wanted to proceed. With the two (including the gent I had booked previously) who confirmed that they would be available and inclined to meet, I followed up as per their preferred timeline and "penciled in" separate appointments on two different days. At which point I confirmed my interests, my general location, and their hourly.

On the morning of the respective appointments, I followed up to confirm everything. With the gent I had booked previously, everything proceeded gratifyingly. With the new-to-me gent who was so fun and sexy via text, things didn't proceed as simply and, unfortunately (for me), he ultimately proved to be a no-show.

All of which is to say: when communicating with providers, you never know what you're gonna get. And I've learned not to put all my horny eggs (or expectations) into one basket.

  4. Thanks, all. The consensus does seems to be that the combo of "no communication and no show" is the dealbreaker and that 15-30 minutes is a fair "grace period" in such situations.

I did find that communicating the boundary of my patience ("if I don't hear back by ___") proved a sanity-saver for me yesterday, so I'll likely carry that forward.

And for those who might be interested:
The gent did ultimately contact me, about two hours after we were set to meet. His story -- if true -- would suggest that he simply had a very bad day, complicated by some truly bad luck. So I'm willing to accept that he may actually be legit, given the enthusiasm of other posters. As for me, I go back and forth on whether I believe the gent's story as I also take come comfort from the not-insubstantial pile of dollars that remain in my pocket.

  5. At this moment I find myself in that weird limbo that happens when the gent doesn't arrive at the agreed upon time... I've had my fair share of experiences being ghosted when it comes time to confirm, but I'm also realizing this might be my first actual experience in a very long time (possibly ever) being stood-up.

Context: new-to-me provider that received glowing/enthusiastic endorsement on this forum; very responsive via text on first contact a couple weeks ago and again when finalizing details a couple days ago; initially non-responsive to today's "final" confirmation text/s but did finally reply a few hours before planned meetup; waited for 20+ minutes in front of my hotel (*in* the NYC district he says he lives in) before texting again & setting an "if I don't hear back, we'll have to call things off this time" text... It's now 45-minutes with no word, so I'm officially calling it a no show. Sigh.

    My question for y'all is:
What "grace period" do you typically afford a gent?

Today, for the first time, I found myself setting deadlines -- ie "If I don't hear back by ___ time, I'll need to consider canceling" -- which I don't think I've ever done before. Does that work for anyone?

I'm just curious about the wisdom of the group of this particular hazard of the hobby...

  6. Ahh. Rounds.
I worked weekend nights at an office just around the corner in the very early 1990s when I was in my very early 20s, so I passed in front of Rounds about 1030 every Friday and Saturday night for almost two years. A few weeks after I started, a few of the "outside" guys (remember them?) noticed my commute and seemed concerned that I had a hustle going that they didn't know about. So each night a different one would walk with me for half a block or so, chatting me up in their respective fashions, trying to suss me out. I loved the attention, but they quickly clocked that I was just another broke civilian...

I loved GAIETY but, as I've discussed in another thread, SHOW PALACE will forever hold a special place in my pervy little heart.

    • dances mingle fully nude : that's exactly what the dancers typically do. they mostly just mingle with the clothed customers (and each other) in between lap dance sessions in the backroom. many will respond to eye contact by moving to introduce themselves, possibly as a prelude to a lapdance. some are shyer than others and a few can be very assertive...
    • are lap-dances by number of songs or time? : standing rate is $20 per song, with the dancer typically clocking the number of songs. I typically start a session by saying the number of songs I'd like to go for...
    • can we touch the dancers? and how far can we go? : if it's following mutually agreed upon terms (ie a lap-dance), some touching is presumed but any/all limits ("how far can we go?") should be clearly communicated/respected... there are also special "champagne rooms" available should you and your gent both be interested in going a particular distance.
    • any recommendations / other tips are welcome! : I'll leave it to others to offer their helpful hints but, for me, it's really about having friendly fun & tipping your dancers generously...
  7. Clicked the request to view the RentMen private gallery for a gent based in a city I'll soon be traveling to... He appears to have granted permission, but followed with the following message: yes of course would u like to give me a donation via cash app/venmo/paypal/chime?

Definitely a new gambit to me. I mean, I get the hassle/tediousness of "photo collectors" but yeah...

Just resonates as a major red-flag.

    Curious what other think...

  8. I switched to MISTR about six months ago and have been very pleased with the convenience.

When I started on Prep maybe five years ago, my PCP referred the supervision of Prep to a different doctor at an infectious disease practice. Was all fine, though the scheduling was complicated (the doctor only took appointments one day a week) and the practice required a second appointment with another office for blood/urine work, then there were some billing hassles... And coming back after COVID, the scheduling hassles just increased, even though they were 5minute tele-medicine appointments.

Right when I was hitting my limit with these hassles, I ended up hiring a gent who happened to a MISTR spokesmodel. (He wore his MISTR trucker hat to our meetup.) So I asked him about the service. His pitched emphasized how the company was mostly about trying to ease access for more people, which I found intriguing, so I looked into it further and found that I liked MISTR's business model (ie using grants to pay for prescriptions for uninsured clients & leveraging the payments from insured clients to subsidize others). So I gave it a go.

Two prescription cycles later I'm very pleased. The very communicative and responsive MISTR team worked very hard to try to eliminate my modest copay altogether but my insurance insisted on the same co-pay for the same generic Truvada as I was getting with my specialist. (My insurer refuses to pay for Descovy, which both my specialist and MISTR tried to go with.) Plus, with MISTR, I don't have the visit co-pays for either the specialist or the bloodwork appointments, so it definitely ends up costing me less there (an annual savings of roughly $250). I'm still getting used to swabbing myself for the testing, which my state requires fairly frequently, but it's easy enough. I also have direct access to my test results, which I didn't always with my previous specialist.

So I've had no complaints with MISTR so far, and sincerely hope it's able to keep on doing what it's doing...

  9. 6 hours ago, Tarte Gogo said:

Do you guys know why it is super busy on a Friday night at 11 pm, but empty of boys and customers on a Saturday night at the same time?

If we're talking last night (Saturday 8.26), everyone was probably at the monthly NudeParty -- at least until 1am or so, when the festivities were supposed to migrate over to FairyTale for what was promoted to be a "Late Night AFTER PARTY"...

  10. Thanks for posting, @WhiteMageQNS! And welcome to the adventure...

I suspect others will have much to offer by way of guidance on this but my first thought: do any of your favorite masseurs also cross-list on Rentmen? If so, that might be a way to go. If no, then you might consider hiring someone first for massage and then hiring again for the extra pleasures of the BFE.

Also it would likely be helpful for the folks here to also know: what types of gents get you going?

  11. I've only gone to one Lodge event (with a provider, at his suggestion) and was generally impressed. The organizers are legit. The rules are clear. Most are held in one of the spaces Adonis briefly used for nude parties in 2018 or so. Attracts a broad mix of guys in terms of age, body type, and ethnicity. Many quite attractive. Generally chill vibe. I've considered going back but the dress code doesn't really work for me, at least not without a pre-arranged companion, so I've not tested the waters again. (I should say that I used to work as an attendant at similar events -- anybody remember Vinny's or Wally's parties -- way back in the 1990s so I'm always scoping the set-up with a particular eye.)

All of that being said -- if you find the idea of being basically naked while cruising a dimly lit joint with lots of couches and curtains and assorted bodies appealing -- I'd say it's worth checking out, at least once.
