I would like to thank everyone who attended the Sunday MAL Forum brunch, and other gatherings, this past weekend. We had an incredibly fun time with clients and providers enjoying good food, making connections, and drinking lots of alcohol. Please read @latbear4blk synopsis of the weekend in the post above. He’s described the weekend so much more eloquently than I could ever write myself.

Special thanks to each of the providers who were able to attend @nate_sf , @Ace , @hunterlee , @WilliamErickson and @VictorPowers. This event, along with Palm Springs, allows our community to get together and build relationships that strengthen bonds and create lasting friendships. Now more than ever, we all need to gather in safe, nonjudgmental, and respectful evironments where we can just be ourselves and speak openly about this unique hobby and profession.

I will be hosting again same time next year. As soon as dates are available for MAL 2020 I will let everyone know.

    Thanks

I’ve sent the confirmation email to everyone who indicated an interest in attending via this thread or private message. If I missed someone it was an oversight and I apologize. Let me know if you didn’t receive the email. I may have an invalid e-mail address.

I need to know preliminary numbers by Thursday so please respond to the email on your plans to attend the Sunday brunch.

    Looking forward to seeing everyone.

    Thanks

My flight gets in at about the same time, so you're in good company. We're thinking the happy hour will start around 6:00 thereabouts. I recall from last year it extended into the early evening, so no hurry... we'll be there !

Just confirmed my reservations at Rouge and my train gets in at 4:15 Does that give me enough time to get from Union Station to Rouge to check in and then to the host hotel to have a few drinks with the fellows? Remember I am old and tend to get lost. LOL

Yup, it's not always the same three, but a small cast of revolving characters (always including Mr. Green).

I don't think there's a generic retention model, but rather specific attention to each client dynamic.

Exactly. Glad to have 'em, wouldn't mind a few more.

    Per annual tradition:

    Revenue decreased 17% from 2017.

Most of that drop was in the first quarter, with income stabilizing the rest of the year.

47% of 2018 revenue came from the year’s top three clients, compared to 40% in 2017.

I'll be there too, helping with some of the activities. If there is interest in the gay sports bar Saturday afternoon again I'm happy to put that together.

Please mark your calendars for the next Forum DC Gathering, January 20, 2019.

As with past DC gatherings, the event will span the MLK weekend, and coincide with Mid Atlantic Leather (MAL). Here is the link to the MAL reservations page: https://www.leatherweekend.com/

The dates for MAL are January 18 - 20, 2019. The DC Forum group brunch will be held on Sunday, January 20. The venue is secured and details regarding timing and location will be sent via email on January 11.

There will be a range of get-togethers, culminating in the traditional brunch on Sunday. This event is open to Forum Members including clients and providers.

I would have posted this much earlier but due to a personal matter related to a very sick close friend, I’ve been preoccupied and distracted of late. This event WILL happen, and you can start making arrangements with confidence.

For those of you who may not be interested in MAL or the leather scene, not to worry! Traditionally the DC gathering has coincided with MAL because it's a long weekend and many of us are in town, but the forum gathering is otherwise independent of the leather activities and is welcoming to all forum members. You may choose to sample some of the MAL activities, or go "whole-hog", or alternatively forgo them completely. That's up to you.

If you're interested in attending, please send a direct message to me @ArVaGuy. As the date approaches, we'll get in touch with each member who has expressed interest.

And if you have general questions or suggestions for the gathering, please do so in this thread.
I’m excited to be continuing this fun tradition and hope you'll join.

    Thanks.

I’m a $842,000 a night escort. That’s my rate for overnights. I have a BMW X series on my Amazon wishlist so that men can buy it for me.

Keep a nondecript appearing "trick bag" packed with various essentials you think you might need. Mine has water-based and synthetic lubes, condoms of various sizes, and dildos of various sizes. Plus a paddle and mini flogger just in case. Often the bag is never opened if the host has his own stuff but it's good to know it's all there.

If that's all too much for traveling light just bring a couple of little bottles of lube in your carry-on. TSA has seen everything, no need to be shy.

    Thank you!!!

That's really what I feel like... Since my we seperated three years ago (actual legal divorce was finalized last year) I just have no clue who I am... And it feels like I'm constantly discovering new things about myself. On one hand that's great but it does give a sense of instability sometimes.
I hear you about social media. I limit it very strictly. I only follow people on Instagram I personally know in real-life and even then I don't follow all of them. Facebook I use purely for promoting my theater performances. And it's helped a great deal in how I feel.

I've recently started reading the "Jeeves" series of books by P.G. Wodehouse and I literally laugh out loud with those.

I'm glad you've found a therapist you like. As others have mentioned, it can take some trial and error to find the right fit. I've been seeing a great therapist off and on for many years... after the initial work with him, I took breaks and returned whenever there was a life change going on that I needed help with. It can be great to talk with someone who knows how to talk about all this kind of stuff!

Beyond the past trauma stuff, there is the matter that you've had some big changes in life, and there probably needs to be some time of figuring out what's next. Maybe call it "mid-life crisis" or what have you, but I'm guessing there are a lot of us here on the forum who have had some version of reinventing after a divorce, job change, coming out, or what have you. In my years as an escort I saw many variations of this, and it was great to see guys over time discover a new version of themselves and start to really enjoy life.

Other thing you mentioned is the need for validation from others, and that's a tough one. Social networking apps like Facebook and IG can be really detrimental in this regard, and can make people feel lousy. For myself I try to be cognizant of how much time I spend on these things, and be aware of whether they are putting me in a bad mood. At least for me I'm finding reading a good book keeps me in a better space than spending an hour on Facebook!

Hey guys, here's an update. After having consultations with three professionals (one doctor and two mental health care therapists) the diagnosis is in: it's not bipolar, borderline or even major depressive disorder. It's undealt with childhood/youth trauma (abusive alcoholic dad and neglectful and emotionally distant mother).

I was referred to a therapist specialized in trauma and the first session was beyond amazing. I have my next session lined up for next week and I'm actually looking forward to it!

She's already taught me some techniques to deal with overwhelm and also learning to allow myself to FEEL whatever I'm feeling instead of clamping down/shutting down and numbing myself.

I'm actually looking forward to healing myself! And to be a calm, whole person that can interact with people without constantly feeling like I'm dying on the inside.

nate_sf got a reaction from desertguy1954 in Laser hair removal on ass/balls?
When I was younger I shaved my ass and balls (and for a while chest too). I'd see guys in the shower at the gym with hairy asses and wonder why they didn't shave them, it just seemed like they didn't know enough to get with the program. But then as I got older I changed my thinking, and now really like hairy asses. I've let mine go back to its naturally moderately hairy state, and guys seem to like it... a lot. I'm sure there are guys who wouldn't like it, but that's not who I end up meeting. For me, an Italian guy with a hairy ass would be a big turn-on.

I'm only just saying all this since you mention you feel like most guys probably prefer the inside of the ass crack to be smooth. Some yes, some no, so don't assume it's universal. If you'll feel sexier being smooth, go for it, but in my experience there are plenty of guys who really like hairy asses. Balls I'm less sure about... I haven't heard anyone extol the thrill of hairy balls the way they do hairy asses, but I'm sure they're out there somewhere!

The reference to $500 rates confused me too. I expect it refers to female escort rates, and the template for the letter may have been written with that market in mind, just guessing.

I'd think the version of the letter focused on men should mention $300, or maybe $350 as having been the top end from a year or so ago. Before Rentmen removed rates from their app, I'd been tracking rates and had been noticing things dropping a bit over this past year so I think the overall point still applies, just the number is wrong in this case.

Sorry that happened to you! :-( I've heard from other clients of similar situations, so it probably does go both ways... The client has an advantage tho in that they can see our reviews or leave bad ones if we flake. We as escorts don't have recourse for bad behavior other than to learn to see the signs and ignore those people. I sometimes wonder tho if I am assuming the worse in someone for showing certain signs when in fact those signs could be a coincidence...? "It's a hard knock life! For us..." LOL

Yeah I've learned to read the signs of time wasters and just move on. And not take personally. Like people that call without a text first. I've never had anyone book me that started our correspondence that way. So when my phone rings out of the blue I already know it's a low chance of a booking, so I lower my expectations. If they text me and get to the point...ok this is for serious. And for the former Backpage clients they will eventually get us rentmen guys are professionals and will treat us accordingly...I feel. Or maybe I'm too hopeful and glass half full!?? But I follow your motto and don't let it upset me till it does. If it upsets me I take a few days off and just spend more time in the pool or gym till I recover.
