I love glossy magazines too, but like @spider mentions they can change over time. Changing the editor seems to be the thing, and I'm guessing they change editors when they want to try to appeal to a different demographic. Back in the 90s I used to love Details magazine. Then they changed editors, and all of a sudden all of the articles went out of their way to emphasize hetero "bro" culture. So I dropped it and I'm not even sure the magazine is around anymore. My favorite for many years has been Vanity Fair, and I read a lot of their articles online through their daily emails. For what it's worth, I also receive the AARP magazine. Yeah we’re back to where we were in December, which was still very restrictive. But at least all those parklets they’ve built for outdoor dining can be put back to use. The DC gathering has had a number of hosts over the years. It was originally set up by a couple of forum members who no longer actively post here. Since then, the torch has been passed between a few different individuals. I cohosted with a local forum member a couple of years ago and it was a lot of fun. What are the qualities of Hell's Kitchen that you're hoping to find in SF? That could help answer the question. The gay bars are centered in the Castro or South of Market (SOMA). However neither have the population density and intensity you find in NYC. But if you're looking for a place where you can stroll down the street for gay bars and restaurants, those would be the places. Other neighborhoods have urban intensity, but are less gay-centric. But as @Danny-Darko mentions, the city is pretty much gay-friendly all over. One word of caution is that in the pandemic, SF is a shell of itself, as are probably a lot of other cities. Bars are still closed unless they are outdoors and serving food, nightclubs are closed, and gyms are at limited capacity with some still closed. So if you do a scouting trip, just be aware that what you see today is not SF fully-functioning. The good news for newcomers is that rents have dropped, as have condo prices. I'm confident things will rebound after the pandemic, but it might take a while.
