He's a very hot man.  But your description of the experience is what I expected.  Personally, I wish he would just go massage women or work in a spa.  I have no doubt there are hundreds of gay men that have blue balls from resisting the desire to get off in his presence.  I've been to many straight massage therapists that do not advertise on gay massage sites. In my overall experience, this hasn't been the case. Typically, I tend to ask multiple questions in a single message. If I receive one word responses or answers to only one question, I generally interpret it as disinterest and proceed to the next provider.

Wrapped up my session.  Was a good time..not the best but still quite enjoyable.  My only issues are we had a cash app issue for some reason that held things up a bit and he answered a couple texts during.

this story as described by OP is highly improbable.  
The idea that someone brand new to this hobby (and this site) gets a death threat from a simple inquiry that didn’t result in a booked appointment ?  No - that just doesn’t happen.  And if by some long-shot, portions of the story are true - you just block the person from contact on various phone numbers and move on.  
It’s beyond belief to think an established provider is going to travel a long distance to somehow retaliate for a simple ghosting. Even more so when the provider has been positively reviewed here & would put his entire reputation/career at risk for a non-event. 
reviewed providers on this site frequently check it to see what people are saying about them.  If any of this actually happened & the provider is unhinged - I’d say the OP has made the situation worse.  The correct way to handle it would have been either say nothing & block him, or if posting the story here, name the provider & help others avoid a potential problem.
As is, it’s a far-fetched story that doesn’t make sense without any real purpose or help to the community. 
btw  - don’t text providers months in advance to set- up appointments. It’s a waste of everyone’s time & the provider should have known the OP wasn’t serious from the start.

Ditto - text only. I've had providers call me, which I found annoying and never ended up well.
Also, I can use my translator when I text.

Almost sounds similar to a friend I know. He spent something like almost a year in jail due to some petty family dispute that just blew up into a full fledge felony.
I had to kinda be like a counselor thru that whole time while also trying not to directly blame him for what happened. Like in the case of where someone said: “his girlfriend put him jail”….well not really. She might have been the facilitator but, ultimately it comes down to how the system works and controlling one’s own action. And the golden rule for every man: If you can avoid problems with a woman, avoid it. Doesn’t matter if it’s family or your girlfriend. I only trust women around me for select periods of time. I don’t even like to be around gay dudes who spend too much time around various women, unless it’s a real close friend who’s trustworthy (some make great wingwomen lol).
It’s sad though, like I said in another (now closed) thread: the system is real. Some people can’t stay out of it but: too often it’s a default solution. Fortunately my friend has gotten back on his feet, and I think my counseling and sending links of online resources have helped. I always try to include: I’m not perfect and dealing with hurdles of my own.

Can't speak for people in my city, but I rarely hire people in my city because the options are either limited or not compelling to me, even though it's a large city.
I actually believe that it's a common practice for clients to take a break from hiring due to a number of reasons, and I don't think that there is a rule that establishes that one has to hire consistently or constantly, as if we have to fill some kind of quota.
No one is obligated to hire what is available simply because that's what's available. I take my breaks due to other priorities, family and life responsibilities, finances and budget, traveling, health issues, or just because I need a break from sexual activity or massages. One important rule that I have is that hiring to me is part of my self care, but also part of my leisure, which means, that I'm not going to neglect the other aspects of my life over hiring providers (maybe if I win the lottery... nah, even if I win the lottery). So time off is a given to me.
