I'm leaning more towards that direction myself these days. This guy wasn't on my list but there are others I'm just saying no to.
Better to take the money and work out with a private trainer. It's company and my body's in better shape at the end. I get so effing lonely at times but being with someone and having a shitty experience makes it worse. I don't mean to single this guy out; he's probably just fine.

I get a little suspicious when there's not even a hint of being a real, trained therapist -- no table in pix.
It falls under the too good to be true...
I've got a milestone b'day coming up; would love to treat myself to a BF experience but it's sooooo awful when you get your hopes up and they're dashed and crushed.

I have had both types of surprises. As good intuition as I have, as intelligent and independednt-minded that I am, sometimes I am just wrong. The times when I have been pleasantly surprised is when the masseur doesn't look like "my type", and the times when I have been unpleasasntly "surprised" was exactly what you describe, not trusting my own guts or ignoring the signs of the possibility of an dissappointing/unpleasant experience.
I can only speak for myself, so in my case I blame it to haveing "a type", emaning that when I look at a provider that looks right to me, I tent to want to believe that the experience will be perfect, and sometimes it hasn't been.

I'm mulling over trying out two new masseurs. While one of them has good reviews (and the others none at all), I've read comments that are telling me to think with my big head, not my little one.
I can easily lie to myself and ignore the signs to stay away from them, or try them out and live and learn, or try them out and be happily surprised.
Has anyone ever tried someone they "shouldn't" have and been happily surprised?

Reviews on RM and MF tend to be useless garbage. Yeah, there are some honest ones but fake ones prevail IMHO.
Reasons to be extra careful: (1) too many rave reviews obviously written by the same person, especially if the profile is recent and (2) profiles that have been around for a long time and have no reviews.
As far as new profiles, they could be a better bet if they are genuinely new, but there's always the risk of them really being old, just under a new name, and these are toxic. It's always a good idea to ask this forum whether someone recognizes them, but you may not be alerted on time.
Also, avoiding new guys who charge a lot, especially if their pix reveal modeling aspirations, is a good idea. These are the most important "use your big head" situations. 😅

Great question. I have seen a few guys who were new or not reviewed often on here or RM and had very pleasant reactions. They were guys who are just getting started or coming in and out. On the other hand I also had one very bad experience. So I don’t know how helpful this is - but a little bit of both and always take standard precautions especially with first time meets.

Trust your instincts. If something doesn't feel right, it's best to walk away.

Reading the reviews his pricing is way up there, 800 -2000 for an hour?  Think I can pass.

I mean...sure, it might 'sound' hot. That feeling when you are totally submissive to someone who's going to ravage you and make you feel 90% safe and 10% scared at the same exact moment. I can't describe it, but I was lucky to have it once or twice in my life. It's mind-blowing.
Then again...it could go south in a bad way really fast and you feel 100% scared and you shut down, thinking what do I need to do to survive and then later you think oh, yeah. I have to pay this guy for hurting me.
You'd have no one to blame but yourself if things got out of hand given the provider's title.
I've asked guys at times if they know their own strength; some understand the question, some don't.

I've always been in some sort of sales business, and if I'm having an off-day, I don't schedule client-facing appointments. Of course, if I had the option of collecting my commission up front perhaps I'd keep the appointment! That shiny penny has lost its shine.

I mean 39 is middle-aged. "Daddy" was never reserved for senior citizens. Some people marry right out of high school and have grandkids by 40.
Plus someone saying they are 39 on the internet is generally assumed to be shaving anywhere from 5 to 35 years...

I hear you Simon and hopefully I didn't want to come off as if I was punishing him I'm just making an observation on the photo and trying to check if he's changed drastically since he's taken those pics. There are a lot of built guys that post older photos of when they were in their peak and tend to not update them if they've put on some flab. I tend to like my guys in their peak condition (one of the reasons why I'm hiring people on RM, if it weren't the case I'd just get a real professional massage from the Montague or The Edition hotel spa) so it's the only reason why I asked. I also noticed some pretty old looking cars (late 2010s) in one of his pics and a shoe in one of his gym pics that was popular in 2016-18 (around the time of the release of the phone) so I'm pretty sure the pics are old. I tend to know these things because I'm pretty up to date in fashion, tech, and cars (I'm also quite young compared to the normal clientele on this forum) and I live very close to LA and make frequent trips to the city. People in LA, especially WeHo (LA epitomizes conspicuous consumption), love to show off so seeing things like that is pretty uncommon.

I hear your point and mostly agree. To be devil’s advocate, I don’t think we should punish someone or assume the worst for using an older phone. Not everyone feels the need to buy a new $1000+ device every year or two. You’re assuming he took the photo that same year he got the phone or not long after, likely within 2 years. Maybe he took it four years after he bought the device and has only posted the photo for the last two years. Who knows?
Let’s say you’re right, the photo is old. Do the other clients say he doesn’t look like his photos? No. Quite the opposite. And he’s a hottie. I just can’t believe that he’s so grossly different from a photo taken a few years ago that you would be appalled and want to walk out in utter disgust.
Quick PSA: providers should have professional photos, not selfies. It’s just bad form. Same thing with outdated photos. Images should be between 0-2 years old, ideally new every 6-12 months if this is your main job. Selfies are really common though. When you look like a Hemsworth I guess it doesn’t matter that much…
…And yet clients still pick and peck at the smallest thing…
I can’t forgive the whole no-show situation. That’s another issue entirely.
