For those who are not familiar with it, this was a gathering of forum members coinciding with MAL and the MLK weekend. It was originally organized by a very active member of this forum so that he could meet other East Coast members. It started with just a brunch at Annie's, then expanded to include a visit to the Secret's strip club, a happy hour at MAL, and some other events here and there. I think it reached its pinnacle about 10 or 12 years ago, with perhaps around 30 people attending.

The original organizers are no longer participating in this forum, so over the years since various people (including me) have jumped in to organize it. The last time was an attempt for the 2022 weekend, but at that time we were still coming out of the pandemic and there was only a handful of people expressing interest in attending. Then DC implemented masking restrictions in response to a winter Covid spike, and we called it off.

Interest had been waning in recent years, particularly once Secret's closed. For me, the visit to Secret's was a big highlight, and I expect it was for others too. But the most common complaint was it's just too damn cold in DC in January, so thanks but no thanks. And traveling during the winter is not fun.

I think it was great at its prime, but at least in my opinion has played itself out. Of course some may have other opinions!

THOSE were some FUN TIMES my friend!!!!!!

I was all ready to break out the spreadsheet (yes, really, I was peak nerd in April) of my expenses for the trip (not just Palm Springs, but also some other travel and an east coast reunion) but instead I'll just second what @nycman and @purplekow have already said. The main expense is the travel (don't I know it), then the unavoidable high cost of most accommodation in Palm Springs, and a car rental if you choose either to fly into an LA basin airport rather than PSP or to have the safety net of your own wheels for the duration. Those costs are easy to scope before you go. Once there, I spent of the order of $100 on groceries, coffees, wine and take-away food on top of the modest costs of the two scheduled restaurant meals. You could spend more depending on where you choose to eat (my room had a kitchen). The cost of in-room entertainment is another matter.

    LOVE that last line!

I've come to the conclusion that what my old business partner told me years ago continues to ring true... that nothing really good happens between 1 and 4 in the morning...

When I first started escorting in Las Vegas a thousand years ago, I would leave my phone on 24 hrs because of the nature of the town. More than a few times that paid off with late night or early morning calls, & some interesting meetings. As I got older & more (ahem) seasoned, I changed my ads to read "phone goes off at 2am."

Now..living in Palm Springs, I usually clock out around midnight. When I wake up to a voice mail that came in after 2am, it's usually a bullet ducked!

  4. Sweet. sweet Oliver! The world needs more men like YOU in it! Thank you for the kind words..

I remember.my first pool party (in what simultaneously feels like yesterday & a hundred years ago!). as a nervous newcomer to this community.

You & Epiginos were very kind to me & made me feel welcome. All these years later, our friendship continues. (Gladly).

Wear the tiara well, my friend!!!

  5. Gentlemen.....

To quote Pete Townsend of The Who: it's been an "Amazing Journey....."

When I made the decision 19 years ago to start escorting, it was (sadly) out of desperation to survive, & follow my passion, (music), in Las Vegas. That decision QUICKLY turned into a way of life for me, in what seemed to be the blink of an eye!

I developed some great relationships along the way, saw the world, & had experiences that in my wildest dreams thought would NEVER happen to a "kid from Brooklyn."

I'm going to be pulling my ads down a year from today (my 60th birthday, & the 20-year anniversary of "Ace"), & only see referrals from this site. I'll continue the relationships with my regulars.

    It's time.

My phone number & email will stay active for the next year as well.

I want to thank ALL of you & wish you all well!!!!

  6. SO MANY good times there! It was sad to watch it's decline. I was there a few weeks before it closed & you could "feel" something in the air, almost like it was running itself.

Hopefully the family will sell to someone who will refurbish it & above all, keep it gay.
