This will be my first Thanksgiving as an expatriate in over 10 years. Had my circumstances been different, I would have waited to spend the holidays in the US before moving to Uruguay. Anyway, thanksgiving dinner is one of those holiday activities that I will miss - we will probably barbecue a turkey - Grilling is big here.

 

What I do plan to keep intact is running a list of what I'm thankful for. Here is snippet:

  • I'm grateful for another year with my friends, pets, and family, & a man who is now 6200 miles away.
  • I'm grateful for this Forum as I always learn something new on a daily basis. Thanks Daddy!
  • I'm grateful that Greg & Robster were able to weather the storm, and I pray for others in the midst of it
  • I'm grateful to have had Damascene amongst us, and for Tom Isern who celebrated him so eloquently
  • I'm grateful to have this fucking US election behind us - now I pray for wisdom, inclusion, and respect.
  • I'm thankful for having being laid so good by so many hot and wonderful men. :D

I'm thankful for my family, particularly my mother and brother. They see me as an odd duck, have never made me the black sheep, and have loved me in ways that absolutely nobody else can.

 

I'm thankful for my partner, who has only ever asked that I always be my true and genuine self with him and has kept his promise to love me for who I am.

 

I'm thankful for the many communities of which I'm a member, including this one, for continuing to remind me of the value I receive from contributing to others.

 

I'm thankful for music. Music is how I experience and remember and re-live and process life. Music is a place where a difference of opinion doesn't lead to fighting and division.

I'm thankful for having been born in a safe place to good parents.

I'm thankful for having been given a good education.

I'm thankful for having found the right lifetime partner (48 years and counting).

I'm thankful for having had a long and successful career.

I'm thankful that I can spend my old age in a place that I love.

I'm thankful for having had a few very close friends throughout my life.

I'm thankful for having access to a site like this that gives me an outlet to express my thanks.

After so much time away, it is nice to see you back. I wish you would have dug a bit deeper on your list of things for which to give thanks because I know you must be grateful for more than being able to hide a gun on your body.

 

I give thanks for the memories, which stay with me as a constant source of warmth and reassurance.

I give thanks for an intellect that keeps me questioning and creating

I give thanks for the people who bring me joy and who support me in my life.

I give thanks for having had a wonderful childhood, an exhilarating education, a fulfilling job, an incomparably blessed marriage and a relatively comfortable and healthy old age.

I give thanks for Viagra, Cialis, Levitra, Caverject, Muse and any other chemical, device or manipulation that allows me to get hard and stay hard.

I give thanks to the men who allow me to get hard and heat up and then end up soft and panting.

I give thanks for the bounty of my table, the richness of my life and the happiness the holidays bring.

I give thanks to Hallmark, whose holiday cards were the inspiration for my post.

OH yes My four roommates Brandy, Ben, Bear and Bonehead. Thanks for giving something for which I love returning home. Treats will be forthcoming.

By the way, TrueReview, I know you said that you gave thanks for a man who is 6200 miles away, but really it is closer to 5,343 from Uruguay to here.
