Barcelona - Sauna Thermas - It only got better!

I think the peak hours 3p ish to 8p at Thermas are comparable to before, Thursday thru Saturday…maybe even better depending on your taste in men because the mix is different .

However, the parties have affected the overall attraction of Thermas because it’s not 24/7 like it was.  I used to really like the off-peak and morning hours.  always had good luck & that is just not an option anymore because of the parties.

and it’s true - I know several former Thermas guys that have moved on & doing euro circuit - seems like London, Vienna, Hamburg & BCN are the stops.

Where did you get the info that Thermas has been slow? Every time I've been in the last few months it's been similar to how it's always been: a varied mix of working guys, from muscular gym types to twins. Friday and Saturday are always the best time to go.

twins? Do the muscle guys from Romania still go? For a while those big muscle guys were there every day literally cock-blocking guys walking by with their boners. They never kept their towels on and chewed up half the viagra in BCN. The Brazilian and Venzeulian i know who were always there don't go anymore and the Polish kid who slept there is gone. There was also a cute Modolvian blond guy who went a lot. My impression is there's not as many guys from those areas anymore.

I certainly hope the boys for rent will still be available at Sauna Thermas.  That's the primary reason I'm traveling to Barcelona this autumn on my way to Greece.  I am not interested in visiting a bathhouse without a congregation of hustlers; I can get that anywhere.

Thermas is most certainly 100% escorts and clients. No one goes there for anything else.

Perfect!  That's just how Zurich's Paragonya Wellness Club is, and I loved it so much last year that I'm stopping by Zurich again this year after Barcelona.  I'm looking forward to the lower prices at Sauna Thermas compared to Paragonya.

How is Nice in general? I plan to visit Paris this summer, and was told that Paris is not to happy about foreigners who don't speak French. I'm thinking of stopping by Nice.

Nice is nice.

couldn't resist. It was actually my first time in Nice last summer and I loved it so much I skipped Barcelona and stayed an extra week. There are very expensive hotels down in the Old Town beach area but there are also very nice reasonable hotels in the center. I stayed in the new high-rise Holiday Inn Express which is really nice and great location across from Notre Dame de Nice for just over $100/night. 85-year old ladies in couture fashion and flawless makeup and hair would walk their poodles by us while we were having breakfast at 8am on the terrace. The food is amazing and amazingly cheap. There's a group of restaurants in the center locals all go to (and tourists "in the know"). The speciality is Riviera Pizza which is just amazing but a bite has calories for a whole day. More art than Paris as it was the working home for so many top artists. The real Old Town is 5 minute Uber from the center. It's sky high and lower quality. It has over a dozen gay bars, a gay sauna, a strip club and an Eagle with muscle dancers on the bar and in a sling in the back room taking tips. (the HIE has a gay drag/strip club down the block that i think is Nice's largest.) The guys on the beach are healthy and stunning muscles (no sand , just rocks). I enjoy the "French" lifestyle more there than what's left in Paris and for a lot less $$ than Paris or Barcelona. (i did a trip report here but too lazy to find it). Nice is big on Hunqz. But it's gay sauna really needs rentboys.

Someone just "told" you this about the French? Do you think they won't talk to you in English or accept your euros? Do you think that escorts and other hustlers won't want to do business with you?😆

It's like one of the biggest talking points (and jokes) about tourism in France.

as Marc says, that has been the classic stereotype about Parisians for many, many decades......some truth to it, I suppose, but there are also many levels of toleration in Paris, just as in any large city!.......always make an attempt to speak French, smile, try, and you'll get along, mostly......

It's like one of the biggest talking points (and jokes) about tourism in France.

When I was a lad before my first trip to Europe, a friend who had done a year abroad in France told me to make sure when entering a store to find the shop owner or shopkeeper, smile, and say "bonjour!" (or "bon soir!" depending on the time).

In French culture when coming into a store, you must say hello to the shop owner/keeper.  Failure to do so is considered extremely rude, like going into someone's house without greeting the homeowner.

I'm amazed by the number of Americans who are ignorant about this small but critical detail.  After Americans totally ignore the store owner/staff, they are baffled and a bit miffed that the French are cold as ice.

By the way, I always had good experiences in French businesses, even though my French sucks.

when is the best time to go ?  Is it flooded w tourists like BCN ?

We were there in June and it was perfect. Warm enough for shirts off and cruising. There are a lot of US tourists in close-in Old Town by the beach but you can avoid them (and their prices) more in the center right next to Old Town where the trendy people live. People in Provence pride themselves on being friendly, their food, and their art.  Of course I hear half of Paris is there in August so IDK then.

this is accurate - I haven’t seen any Eastern Europeans in Thermas last few visits.  It’s now almost exclusively Latinos.
As mentioned in previous posts - many of the long-term regulars have moved on and very few guys there now were there pre-Covid.  The current ratio is much more Brazilian overall w some Colombians, Venezuelans, Dominicans & Cubans.

When the Egyptian is no longer there, you know times have changed.

stereotypes usually have some basis in truth.
in general settings - the hostility towards tourists is dependent on many factors - when typical tourists don’t even try to speak a few words in the native language then that can cause issues. it’s likely more due to entitled/obnoxious behavior though than not speaking the language.  and of course, in certain over-touristed cities where tourists have displaced residents and disrupted neighborhoods, then there can be outward direct hostility which may be mistaken by the tourist as caused by not speaking the language.

There are many articles written about over-tourism in European - it’s definitely a problem for the people who live in those cities.

and, for American tourists specifically - it’s always a good idea to understand we are perceived as wealthy and many tend to flaunt their relative wealth in a number of ways that will not be welcomed by the locals.

back to topic - In Thermas & with local providers in BCN - there is absolutely no issue with whatever language you speak.  But, if you can speak Spanish that is a complete game-changer.   If contacting guys from the apps, I’d recommend doing that from a non-US number if possible and translating your request into Spanish….the rates will be lower.

this is exactly where the “ugly American” stereotype comes from.

The assumption is that for money, the locals will tolerate your behavior and/or cultural insensitivity.

as for providers - I’ve seen plenty of guys in Thermas decline clients who wanted to pay, for whatever reason. A bad vibe is a bad vibe - money becomes irrelevant.
they know how to spot the problematic clients.

language skills not required - a good attitude is

The "locals" will take money from any visitor who doesn't speak their language -- or doesn't speak it well. It's definitely not limited to Americans visiting France or anywhere else. There are "ugly" Germans, Chinese, Brits, and Russians flocking to countries around the world.

Furthermore, you didn't seem to notice that I was specifically describing the exchange of money. I was not talking about behavior or cultural insensitivities.

Seems like someone is overly "sensitive" and irritated when seeing certain posts. Something about "panties" and "twist" comes to mind. 😍

No need to quote Marc. I've actually put him on my block/ignore list. 😃

And I totally agree with you: smiling and trying to speak French goes a long way... 😃

100% not true as it relates to Thermas, in my experience

the good guys will take almost 95% of clients, but there are always a few clients that stand out as potential problems & the best guys don’t lack for options - they just don’t want to deal with bad people at any price.
The working guys are generally open to all ages, ethnicities, body types & specific requests - it’s a bad attitude that is the deal killer.  Because they know a potential client w a bad attitude will never get better, only worse.
There are different types of guys working in the sauna & you will be sorted accordingly. You won’t be aware of it, but that’s what’s happening behind the scenes. Frequently, the clients w bad attitudes get bad experiences….because the guys think that person deserves it and their performance really doesn’t matter.

go with an open mind, reasonable expectations, a good attitude & money - you will find what you want at Thermas.

You blocked me for a very specific reason:

I called you on your habit of constantly asking for advice and answers -- but not posting many detailed reports yourself. You didn't want to hear that.

And I called you for asking questions that were very clearly answered already in these forums. For some reason, due diligence in reading and searching is not something that you practice.

Don't you want to share all your experiences in sex tourism around the world with members who have given you details and advice that you've requested?

And if I know something about a specific topic or question, I share it. Others might not care to read it or might criticize it, but I still happily share and will continue doing so. 😘

I went today around 3:30pm.  There were several (10-20) guys working and not too many clients.  That was interesting because I had my pick.  Some guys approached me and one was sort-of over pushy.  I chatted with them and they all said the rate is 50 euro.  More people came in, both providers and clients, as time went by.

I eventually went with a Brazilian guy named "Alberto" from Fortaleza. Super nice and extremely well equipped.  Best 50 euro I've spent so far!

Went again today, Saturday.  Got there around 4:40pm.  Lots of providers.  Chatted with a few and can confirm that it seems that the going rate is 50 euro.

I decided to go with the same guy as yesterday.  His name is Alfredo, not Alberto.  Nice guy.

I'm hooked.  Gotta get back to Barcelona soon.
