Barcelona - Sauna Thermas - It only got better!

I had planned to attend on a Friday or Saturday out of curiosity but changed my mind, as the time difference makes being up that late more manageable, but not 05:00! They run four nights Thursday-Sunday, have been for several months.

The ‘word on the street’ is that the events are barely attended from 23:00 for a few hours, even Friday and Saturday, and that customers begin to trickle in around 03:00 when bars close and they are choosing this over other clubs that serve until 06:00, and the DJ may commence around 05:00 as opposed to continuously from 23:00, so patterns attributable to partiers finishing up elsewhere and then moving on to this regularly occurring event. Things can get very busy as late as 07:00 and through the morning, perhaps as club-goers in places closing at 06:00 are not ready to head home. 

If you prevail upon the courtesy of entrance booth staff you can be informed about the approximate number of attendees prior to committing, as per usual. Attendees optionally hook up in a conventional bathhouse manner.

There seem to be some experiments in pricing time blocks and some offer an inclusive ticket (actually a #, perhaps same as locker) for a drink. The idea is to charge from 23:00 covering up to the final afternoon, or at times a separate charge from 05:00 on for those arriving really late, then the historical rates beginning afternoons. I think that if a customer wishes to stay for the afternoon and evening they would need to pay the historical day rate even if they had attended the previous party leading in.

Otherwise, there is no interference between the two, and there is an agenda division according to the two categories of clientele, with historical afternoons/evenings business as usual. Simply put, the premises are put to more full-time use.

I just checked w a friend in BCN.  

Indeed - the sauna is closed EVERY weekend for these parties in the foreseeable future.  

 I have no idea how this impacts the other days of the week there.  

for those of you that love Thermas - go while you can.  I don’t see how they keep the working guys coming when so many clients  only want to go on the weekend.

I’m very confused by all this. If you turn up at 3 in the afternoon on any day of the week is it just business as usual? I was there in July at it was just as it has always been.

I was at Thermas last night.  They had one of the private parties last night so they had a soft closing at 11p, meaning nobody was asking people to leave, but almost all working guys were gone by 10:30p and major clean-up had begun.  They advertise the parties start at 11p and go until 3p the next day.  
I don’t think there is much overlap between the two crowds that go the the night parties and regular sauna hours.  The guys really had no complaints about the parties, they just adjusted and seem used to it.

I arrived yesterday about 3;30p and it was very active - more so than I remember at same time on previous visits.  It seems like the guys have almost completely changed with many of the regulars either have gone back to home countries for a bit or have just moved on.  Only a few familar faces compared to last visit a couple months ago.  And the guys there now seem to be consistently a bit older, more masculine/macho types.  I didn’t see any early 20s, it was more like most were early 30s or appeared that way.

There seems to be confusion among staff when parties are being held - a few weren’tsure there was one happening last night.  After a few minutes back & forth they got it straight.

it seems more clean than before too - the parties seem to have forced a more thorough cleaning protocol.

the men were friendly as usual, all quoted 50euros for their time and it was great.  Still the best sauna imo in terms of quality & quality of men, costs, safety/security and ease of access.  The parties don’t really change much for vast majority of clients although I always liked the late mornings & afternoons there.

Mainly Brazilians yesterday with a Venezuelans, Colombians and a few Dominicans in the mix.

The guys who owns Thermas is relatively hands-on and he is visible.  Very handsome man in his 40s.  Whatever he is doing works because the men there are consistently friendly, there is no pressure and they are honest.  And they do what they say they will do & more. I recognized a couple guys from RM and other apps, yet at Thermas they all charge 50euro.  I think it’s a great setting to meet someone & go elsewhere if you want more time.  For me, 4 hours at Thermas is enough and back to hotel.

If you haven’t been, add Barcelona & Thermas to your list. If you indulge in this hobby, it’s a must.

1. Know your shoe size in cm. You enter into a locker room. Everything is downstairs. Your locker key is also how they charge you for anything purchased at the bar. 
2. the guys are all around and some will approach you. But you can approach them too.

Thanks! I'm guessing the environment is like a typical bathhouse in the USA, but the only difference is that the providers are also in the bathhouse? Since, everyone will be naked or in towels, is it possible to mistake a customer from a provider then? Or is there anything that will help you identify customers vs providers (eg, wristband with a key)?

I think it’s highly unlikely that you would mistake a provider with a customer.

It’s not a conventional bathhouse of the type you encounter in the United States or Australia. At Thermas there are customers who want sex for money and providers. End of story.  As I wrote previously you will have no difficulty differentiating the two.

I had a lot of fun there during my one and only visit to Barcelona about 2017.....safe, very convenient location very near the Plaza de Espana....three or four floors with mystery staircases scattered about made the walking around a bit confusing, but no problem!.....the working guys will lock eyes with you as you wander and may try to drum up business....you'll have to politely fend off those who don't appeal......if Akmed, an Egyptian, is still working there (?), he speaks great English and helped me out with logistics.......yes, it's much more of a legal brothel than a bathhouse.......my only complaint was that customers are required to wear towels (color-coded, I think, to distinguish clients and working guys) instead of their regular clothes, as is allowed in Brazil......my clothes are much more comfortable!.......

as an aside, I enjoyed some of the signs at BCN (airport) that were in Catalan first....then English.......then Spanish!.....long live Catalonia!!

I went there around 8PM on a Tuesday night. There were about 11 rent boys as I was told at the entrance. When I got there, I was looking for bottom boys. Apparently, all that were left were tops. There was one guy who was versatile but he wasn't my type. One of the escorts told me that if I want bottom boys, the time frame for them is from 3PM to 7PM during weekdays. Despite being open 24 hours a day, the availability of bottom boys is limited to 4 hours on a weekday. I guess, the the demand for bottoms is low outside those hours. This leads me to believe that 99% of you who have been harping about Thermas here are bottoms.

Anyway, I wasn't too hurt by not finding a bottom that night, and I left without fucking anyone. Barcelona has a bunch of cruising clubs and saunas, and my needs and wants are thoroughly met. I'm still in Barcelona right now, but I may not pursue Thermas further during this trip because the saunas and cruise clubs here have been awesome for me! Muchas gracias España!

Thanks, yeah fun was had and still is (got 5 more days to go)! Barcelona has awesome cruise clubs and saunas that are non-escort places. There's a significant amount of young hot guys at these places (which is a stark contrast in the USA) and am grateful am being welcummed. I was in Madrid prior to this, and doing Madrid and Barcelona back-to-back has been exhausting sex-wise.
