I keep two Botta Boxes of wine in my refrigerator, one red (Malbec) and one white (Pinot Grigio), which I forgot to remove before my last little event. So now I have to rise above various remarks from my cooking club, which makes me wish I had had Almaden. I also crave fried chicken from time to time. My favorite is from Churchs', but the one near me is kind of gross, so I get Popeye's "spicey" with extra biscuits and a side of slaw to be healthy. I eat it in a nearby park because I live in a high rise condo with lots of "busy bodies" who also aren't afraid to make remarks.

Oooh--my supermarket doesn't carry the Botta box Malbec, or I would rush out and buy it. I usually have the cabernet and the chardonnay in my refrigerator.

I have never been a sweetaholic but I am definitely a saltaholic. Just the thought of Ruffles Potato Chips with homemade bleu cheese dip, or just about any other dip for that matter, make my mouth water. I absolutely love olives, pickles, salami, and all cheeses. Thank god I don’t have a blood pressure problem.

Ripe strawberries from the farmer's market and Ciao Bella Tahitan vanilla ice cream ... consumed during sex :)

I hope they sell these in Chicago for my R & R (and I don't mean rest and relaxation) weekend in Chicago in a couple weeks. Just don't know whether there will be enough room or time for them.

There are probablyi too many to count. I'm with Deej on the KFC original. Or Popeyes.

But I think the one that I have rarest and really enjoy is from a chocolate shop in town: Chocoloate Covered Oreos. With a tall glass of whole milk. Followed by about 3 hours in the gym for penance. But it's worth it.

I never think of these as guilty pleasures but they sure are good. Ripley tomatoes which are in "high" season now and just too good to be believable. Also, just recently Colorado corn from Olathe, CO has become available in local markets. I wait all year for both of these and eat them to "excess" every day they are available.

I also like fried chicken but have never found a fast food or other outlet that compares to my own rendition of same. I try to not eat it more than once every 3 months or so, but look forward to doing so all the time. :)

Best regards,

KMEM

There's a little midwest trailer park trash in my background too, but this time of year it manifests in the annual tomato bacchanal.

When the tomato plants GO BOOM, there's nothing quite like sliced tomato sandwiches on white bread with mayo (or Miracle Whip) and a little salt & pepper.

It's a little bit of heaven.

lol -no midwest trailer park trash here - just a poor Southern boy!

And although I didn't care for tomatoes as a child (even though we grew them every summer), I now find myself frequently ordering the fresh tomato specials (samplers plates, etc.) in our local restaurants that feature local ingredients.

And some crisp smoky bacon or sharp Cheddar will take take that sandwich up a notch, once you've satisfied your craving for the basics!

OMG! That is fuckin' funny! I am mentally picturing that right now, and I know EXACTLY what you're talking about with the busy bodies and trying to avoid them. LOL

Tomato sandwich -- as with the banana pudding, I simply cannot allow that to be put in the "guilty" category. It's "simple" dining for sure, but "fine" dining nonetheless. We lived off tomato sandwiches when we went to the beach.

My mom grew up on a depression-era farm, where you ate what you grew. Her love of the simple things never left her, or me. The meals we had when I was a kid were mostly ways to stretch a buck, but they're comfort foods now.

i totally agree. We had a huge garden when I was growing up ['60s and '70s]. While it saved money, it was mainly for the love of the food. Fresh tomatoes, corn, squash, butterbeans, okra, collards well into winter. GOOD STUFF.

Cheese balls. Either the "smoked" or "port wine" variety, covered in nuts.

Also when I was doing work in the Midwest a few years ago I got hooked on vanilla frozen custard. We don't have it on the west coast, so it was a real treat that I looked forward to each time I made the trip. I didn't care if it was January and 10 below, I had to have it.

Finally, something I can relate to - Ghirardelli's brownies - YESSSSS!!!! And if you're lucky enough to be in San Diego or San Fran and go to their store, you'd be a fool not to indulge in their chocolate chip cookies. Truly the food of the gods that we mere mortals can indulge in from time to time.

I can't get them in Vegas (which is a GOOD thing), but indulge when I'm on the East Coast.

WELL WORTH the extra set of abs at the gym!

GOD, it seems that everything that is orgasmically delicious and will make you Fat is a guilty pleasure, but why should it be ????

You have one life, and when its over, its over. So dont deprive, and DONT feel guilty..... (I still love licking the orange color from Cheese Doodles off my fingers).....
