Welp, if Marcellus doesn’t sense anything rotten … and if our young astute hero Laertes fresh from Paris meets the newly affluent Fortinbras, who seems to have done rather well out of the whole arrangement and now holds the keys … even Horatio may survive in a psychologically sweet state.

Could you pls decipher?

An 18 yo acquaintance , decided to start escorting. I asked him if he has the stomach for it and he replied, I go only with rich and good looking people. Probably many others think the same and this is a segment of escorting this forum is neglecting.

The strategy can work for a while but it is not a sustainable long-term business model. It's more of a fantasy version of escorting than a realistic representation of the job.

Someone might initially attract a handful of clients who fit that description but the pool of gay, wealthy, attractive men who regularly hire escorts is inevitably quite small. And even wealthy clients who hire escorts typically value variety and zero strings attached rather than committing to one provider indefinitely. Having money and options means they can easily move on to someone new.

The gay escort market is also heavily segmented by looks, age, body type, and specific archetypes. The "fresh 18" appeal probably has one of the steepest depreciation curves of all.

Put it all together: a small target market, high client turnover, a rapidly diminishing youth advantage and constant competition from newer faces. That's a business model with a ceiling and an expiration date, not a particularly reliable long-term career.

All things have a ceiling and an expiration date. The only certainty is death and taxes... (and death will soon be questionable). However he is doing great and I am glad for him. And just to clarify, it was not my idea to do this, knowing him, I was actually surprised.

We’re heading to Page 6, so no indicators of topic neglect thus far. The tea that we are banking on is a bit of juicy data that answers “Show me the money”. It might already be spent.

Worth considering, but not doing this long term is precisely the goal for more and more of the younger guys. Same with OnlyFans and other things like that that can result in a ton of quick cash. Get in, make what you can, and get out, is the point sometimes.

While I agree with you in principle, my experience in my years of hiring, which are more than I care to admit, has been somewhat different. I have only known one provider that worked for a little over 3 years before leaving this line of work and starting his own business. Even then, there were some pretty significant caveats: he worked virtually 24/7, didn't filter clients based on looks or age and happened to receive a small  inheritance that included both cash and real estate after a family member passed away.

I genuinely wish this young man the best of luck, but based on what I've seen over the years, the odds aren't exactly in his favor.

I give some guys who are just dipping their toes into the sex work pool a pass on being pickier about seeing clients.  I’ve met students or early career guys who need some extra money for rent or a car payment but has never really aspired to become  higher-volume career sex workers.  They are just one step from the guys seeking “gen” arrangements on hookup apps.

They can bring themselves to provide services for money, but only to some. They might not be good enough actors or poker players to provide services to guys they aren’t at least a little attracted to and I’d rather have them decline my business than provide me bad service.

Interesting. I never thought about it before, but this is the reason I prefer this type of guys. I am flattering and fooling myself. 🤣

was not uncommon for a man to take a wife in her teens.

Actually it was virtually required. And between a man and his boy, f’ing was virtually forbidden. Spare me your condescension. Using social codes from a collapsed society that flourished more than 2,500 years ago to sanctify current behaviors is what’s foolish.

This.  I've met some super attractive guys who also have great personalities.  Finding a long term sugar daddy must be easier said then done.   And if you do find it, how much freedom are you going to have.

Not really. From a sd perspective it is not that easy to find a good match. From experience, good looks is the basic screening. Then follow by is he clever and witty? Cultured? Table manners? Knows about classical music? Opera? How to dress? And a myriad other things. So once I find a match I keep for a long time. And of course I give him all the freedom he needs.

This concept is where my brain keeps going… unless two men are in a gay sex-related space or are making out or something, I don’t think 99% of people would see them together and assume they’re on a date. I have attractive straight and gay male friends and family members I have dined alone with… as far as I could tell, nobody ever thought we were on a date.

Again, who cares?

Exactly my point! Most people CAN’T care (even if they WOULD be judgmental of the relationship) because they wouldn’t even make the connection.

None. I never wanted a sugar daddy but I have dated some wealthy men. The one I date the longest - I was 21 and he was in his 30s - was already angling to have a "partner" who froze themselves in time. I know that because he thought his own college boyfriend, who was his same age and from photos was a totally normal, conventionally attractive guy in his early 30s, had "let himself go and lost his beautify" by just being in his 30s. That's when I knew the clock was ticking and I had too much self respect to let myself become used to a lifestyle that would last a few year at best.

It depends on locale. If you're dining at a high-end restaurant in NYC or LA, some diners - if they noticed the couple - might look askance at them or assume there is a familial relationship.

This is too funny. I think I'm going to start a finishing school for college-age hookers, because most 19- or 20-year-olds don't like classical music or Opera. And they're going to dress in whatever their generation is into.

Honestly, the more you post, the more fantastical this whole scenario becomes.

I am not interested in hookers and obviously we are in different worlds. I have two young friends who guide me to opera and concerts.

Sure, Jan. You're just running across recent high school grads in your enormously wealthy circle, who just happen to a) be gay and b) very interested in providing you with tips on which operas and classical music concerts to see in exchange for your guidance in their search for wealthy men to pay them for their "companionship."

We haven't had a yarn this hard to believe since the guy who hired his neighbor's son, and then stopped posting when it was pointed out that the story was full of holes.

As I said, fantastical.

I’m not picky. They just have to be very good looking and want to be a tad richer.
