Any advice for someone new to hiring who wants to hire someone with only 6 Rentmen reviews and no presence on the boards?

safety, competence, etc?

Sure:

1. check who has left the reviews - new accounts, or accounts that have been around a while and left reviews for other guys too? Reach out to those reviewers and ask things you need to know without asking too much - ( do they kiss? did they have a suitable apartment? would you see them again?)

2. Post a 411 here- maybe they have set up a new account and have a name change. if so why? you will see reveiws for old account name that may explain things.

3. ask for confirmation through WhatsApp, BRIEF facetime or Snapchat to see pics are real - although i think with 6 reviews you are fine.

4. do not send a deposit (if requested) larger than $50.

post reviews here after your meeting to pay it forward and help your community.

Thanks so much! I appreciate you

I also have had good times with no/low review guys. Some of them just happen to get the clients who don't subscribe to RM to be able to leave reviews but are working plenty often just as the highly reviewed guys are. The fact that the reviews on RM you do see are the top whatever % of the user base that cares enough to pay for the site to be able to leave a review and the other 80, 90, 95% of the users (whatever it may be) are hiring providers without ever leaving any reviews (like me), is something that should be remembered.

Both for better (the pay wall means it's more likely reviewers are real reviewers) and worse (the paywall means there's very limited number of reviewers compared to the total user base which makes it inherently skewed). One of my regulars who i've been seeing for about a year, sees many clients, and still currently has no reviews on his profile. Having no profile reviews doesn't really mean the provider is new or bad, not by default.

You definitely increase your odds of having a good experience by sticking to highly reviewed guys. SecretProvider is spot on in all he suggested. But i would say too, there is fun and hidden gems to find in the guys with no or very few reviews. Just still apply the vetting process SecretProvider listed before you meet them.

Totally agree with @SecretProvider - we just hired a guy who only had one review but once I reached out ot him, he was very responsive and warm. I think you can tell a lot about a provider in how they handle an initial outreach. This assumes someone isn't wasting their time with irrelevant questions or talking to them in a way that suggests you're looking for sexting.

I’ve often had excellent sessions with newbies; in fact, often better than with the “well-reviewed” ones.

Agree but you are a seasoned client with a lot of experience in analyzing ads and reviews. For most newbys having enough reviews and 6 is probably adequate, reviews, especially here, is important.

I agree totally!  Communication is key!  One word are a red flag for me!
I’ve had wonderful experiences with 0 review providers!  I hire on multiple platforms and many do not have review capabilities!

I like guys who don't advertise so there are no reviews. I usually meet them at a nice bar. We have drinks, chat, and if they pass the interview we continue to my place. If not, I tell them we'll be in touch and goodnight.

With a few reviews or no review at all, I normally ask for video call.  This way you verify his appearance, discover the attitude&personality and able to make quick decision if the person is the one for you.

Twice I booked massage with providers that didn't have any history on this chat board.  Both were awful experiences.

In short, I am extremely careful now.

That said, I've communicated with profiles that entered reviews on Rentmasseur.  I might consider booking a massage based on their responses, but still would be careful.

Do tell! How exactly do you manage this?

How much would it cost to invite them out for a meal or a bar as a short interview?

Easier to opt for a quick video call. Gives both sides to get a feel for the other.  This has only failed once for me when the guy did the call while walking on the streets of Paris. When we met up, there was no rapport at all.  Total mismatch.

I have had many great sessions with low review guys, in fact two of them are regulars.  I always check here first, but if nothing shows, I go with how the initial interaction goes.  If he is pleasant and polite I will give it a shot and see how it goes.

There are plenty of well reviewed guys that act like assholes when you reach out to them, so there is that too.

True. The guys with massive amounts of reviews (20+) typically treat it as an assembly line business. Nothing is set in stone in this hobby. A lot of it will come down to the chemistry between the two of you. Sometimes you should have to go for a swim.

Totally agree.  My one regular stopped advertising because he just was not getting business.  This guy is hot, sweet as can be and is never late for a session.  On top of that, he has always been accommodating with outcalls and is priced fairly.  People don't know what they were missing!

In truth, there is a great deal of aggravation for both client and provider- poor chemistry, miscommunication, different expectations, unexpected events, etc. It behooves both parties to stick with a proven commodity once they are identified. For this reason, there are many hobbyists and providers that don’t spend much time on RM or other sites because they have secured an enviable spot and are v happy with the contacts that they have. But, alas, variety is the spice of life and circumstances constantly change for all of us, hence the need to look for new talent.
