Why is edging all the rage for content makers?

I have no issues with people who enjoy or provide it, and it's popularity in sexual pleasure is similar I suppose to the insane uptick in pickleball over the last few years. 

What I don't at all understand is why so many people care to watch this happening - in droves. I find this to be incredibly boring. Especially guys who do this as a specialty, and have dozens upon dozens of well hung men that they have video footage of them doing this to.

At least with a couple I can think of off-hand, they're willing to venture further, for example giving rim jobs like Spartanmalez, or pretty much doing everything under the sun in addition to edging with the exception of topping in SantanaXXL's case.

A theory as to why this is so commonplace now is that it can be done to the person without showing their face, which would be something that would be in my own best interest. The bigger the eruption, the higher the view count!

I completely agree! It's definitely a fad I don't understand (as a spectator sport). If someone wants to edge me, I'm all for it.

I'll add that I've been approached by photographers that have a side-hustle running an OF page, and that's what they're asking to make with me. I guess they know the market.

I agree with associating "edging" in contents to make sessions longer and more profitable. It's actually annoying because most of these OF creators are basically just jerking them off and trying to make the time longer. Edging sessions from way back was much better even in porn. And tbh, it actually should be a therapeutic approach to ED or PE and prostate health. Edging should be differentiated with handjobs or milking whatsoever. Sometimes even edging doesn't require release (na ah not for me I hate it when some does that lol)

I've been a big fan for years. If it's a fad it's been going on for a long time, ChaosMen used to feature Edge sessions often and kink.com has had a Men on Edge channel for a long time. I'm fascinated by it and would love to experience it some day, on the receiving side.

I couldn't disagree more with the OP and I think edging videos are fantastic and I seek them out. Content creators who do these well are incredible. I love to watch them. OF guys who do great content are terrific. It's a real art to be able to do them well. The most memorable edging I've ever experienced personally was by the Gay Gaston. Sadly, he doesn't like doing this as an escort and it's virtually impossible to hire him. I hired him once, but he can't really be persuaded to be hired individually anymore.

Similar for me. I used to meet up with Kevin McDonald (YourFriendKevin) on a regular basis.  Pro-switch.  Very talented bondage-edging-top and very sexy body to use as a bottom.
