There has been quite a bit of discussion about weight loss medications here but I would like to confine the discussion to Mounjaro. I am seeking to lose about 15kgs and my doctor is prepared to prescribe it. I would be interested to hear from people who have taken this medication and what was their experience.

What’s your BMI? For most people it works well, a few side effects are common such as indigestion and nausea. The dose is usually titrated up every month if needed. Tolerated it well, and have remained on 5mg as happy with weight loss and side effect profile

My BMI is about 31-32. Thank you for your comment.

I switched from Ozempic to Mounjaro and think that Mounjaro is the better choice. Yes, I lost weight on Ozempic, but didn't lost any of my cravings, specifically Häagen-Dazs® chocolate ice cream

With Mounjaro I have no interest in HD chocolate ice cream, but keep my attraction to chocolate milk. Fairlife chocolate milk has 12g sugar v. most chocolate milks 1t 28gm.

So it's an improvement, but I would also like to reduce that craving. My appetite is hardy, especially in the mornings.

Nonetheless, I am down about 60 pounds on the two drugs.

Sounds just like the initial adjustment period of Ozempic.

I just started it less than a month ago, very pleased so far  lost 4 lbs, no side effects my BMI is 26.  In the US I believe Eli Lilly brands it  Zepbound if used for weight loss, Mounjaro if for diabetes and other ailments.  .  There are a bunch of sellers that sell compounded tirzeptide not sure of the efficacy or safety of that, so I went official product Eli Lilly product Zepbound (again, same as Mounjaro).

I'm on Zepbound, which is the same drug as Mounjaro. For starters, i had about triple the weight to lose that you do, so it's possible the dose relative to weight plays a role. For the first couple of weeks my hunger signal COMPLETELY turned off. I think I could have gone three days without any calories and not been bothered. Frist week dropped 10 lbs then it went much slower after that.

One thing to be aware of is muscle loss. Since I go to the gym nearly every single day I didn't initially notice this. But recently I for scheduling reasons ended up not lifting(but still doing cardio).for a week and I feel like I had a much steeper dropoff in strength than I expected.

A colleague who was taking it for prediabetes issues and was not actually overweight at all was absolutely miserable on it. He had to work from home for the first month because he couldn't be away from a toilet for the length of his commute. So ymmv.

My doctor specifically only sends his self-pay patients to Lilly because the compounding pharmacies aren't really regulated. That's not to say there aren't good ones, just that his office didn't feel they were in a position to assess and didn't want the risk.

No bad side effects for me whatsoever, and only a moderate decrease in appetite .  My first month was 2.5 mg, but I’m increasing it to 5mg since the 1st month went so well. I work out 3 times a week, haven’t noticed any difference.  Maybe my sleep is better now?  Again, It’s only been a month.

My provider is Ro (the one that Serena Williams pitches for).  They charge me $645/month (145 for membership, 500 for the Zepbound).  I also didn’t want to risk the compounded semiglutides, they are much cheaper , and maybe they’re good but what you get really sick?
