jeezifonly Posted Saturday at 08:14 PM Posted Saturday at 08:14 PM We finally had the time to watch this. I admit to being surprised by the level of acting work done by the two stars. And, like every series with a perfect ending, I expect they'll ruin the effect with more episodes. Becket, samhexum and Rod Hagen 1 2

Watching the game today, I noticed the organ medley playing included the refrain from All the Things She Said, on a loop. This is not enough This is not enough I know hockey arenas in many places play All the Things She Said. That the Olympic venue joined the homage to Heated Rivalry was extra cool. 👏🏻 The men's gold medal game will be on Sunday. It may seem apropos for Heated Rivalry fans that Canada will compete in the gold medal match. Circling back to the Olympics and Heated Rivalry, Connor Storrie hosted SNL tonight. Members of the USA men's and women's gold medal teams appeared alongside Connor. Hudson Williams made a surprise appearance. Was pretty good. 👍🏻 Edited Sunday at 08:03 AM by TonyDown Rod Hagen and thomas 2
Becket Posted Sunday at 07:55 AM Posted Sunday at 07:55 AM SNL with Storrie had a few good moments. But it seemed like all SNL shows these days, kinda MEH. Nice to see Connor and Hudson together for a few moments. They really seem to get along well. + Lucky and jeezifonly 2
Becket Posted Sunday at 10:52 AM Posted Sunday at 10:52 AM (edited) I noticed they have made a sequel to movie, Red, White, and Royal Blue. That was a mildly entertaining story with two very attractive guys who fall in love. But there was little if any nudity. I don't remember seeing even half an ass. And the "sex scene" was very unrealistic. Just wondering if the success of Heated Rivalry encouraged the powers that be in that movie to up their game a bit and make the sequel a bit more spicy. Here's hoping, because the two main characters were very good looking. Edited Sunday at 10:53 AM by Becket + Lucky 1
samhexum Posted Sunday at 09:00 PM Posted Sunday at 09:00 PM The show was hosted by “Heated Rivalry” actor Connor Storrie, and at the end of his monologue, the Hughes brothers joined him on stage and pretended they had no idea what “Heated Rivalry” was about. “We’ve been so busy playing, we haven’t had time to see your show yet. It’s about hockey, right?” Jack said, through some missing teeth after being high-sticked late in the third period of the gold-medal game. “Kind of,” Storrie deadpanned. “I got my teeth knocked out in the finals. Does that happen in your show?” Jack said. “Metaphorically,” Storrie, with a wink, said. “What team do you play on?” Quinn asked. When told the Boston Raiders, Jack asked what league that was in. “The HBO,” Storrie joked. thomas and Rod Hagen 2

Even Weekend Update which I normally enjoy wasn't that funny. I realize the attack on Iran is topical. And I may just be an old fuddy-duddy. But people are dying over there. I don't really think it's an appropriate subject for comedy. Becket 1

Connor was perfect. Yeah one of the skits was weird but Connor still executed. I'm sure he'll be invited back in the future for his next big acting gig.

I'm still waiting to find some laughs. Connor did just fine, but SNL sorely needs some new writers. I was surprised they got Connor to undress for a skit. Looks like he's all in, at least for now. SNL had always had at least some skits that should have been sent to rewrite or junked entirely, but they dominated in this episode. Connor (a) was very touching in how sincere he was about the honor of hosting and his thanks to all those who made it possible, and (b) easily set off every gaydar within viewing distance. Becket 1

The entire Marvel Universe for example. At some point, when watching entertainment fare, you just need to let go of reality. That is what entertainment is designed to do. + jeezopete and mike carey 1 1

Some folks are never happy about something or other no matter how well done the performance, while other folks' nature is to nitpick, and act like they qualify as a critic. That one of the biggest criticisms of Heated Rivalry is Kip's physique was too developed for a smoothie barista is a reminder how whiny and absurd people on the Internet can be. My critique is that creators put their heart and soul into producing good work. It's their job and they try to do their best. That people spend time pointing fingers at their work is something they might want to think twice about. I would ask if wanting to win their argument that SNL sucks or Kip's body is not believable is time well spent. In the worst case, the people that did the work read all the negativity. In cases where a film or TV show does fall short, we could be mindful of that. Last, for Heated Rivalry there is so much one can celebrate. That is why I come to this thread. mike carey, MikeBiDude and + jeezopete 1 1 1
