T-Rooms are a sacred place...over thousands of years, many of us had our first gay experiences with a stranger there. Before gay was "in", before the internet, before porn was readily available, when you were too young to be in a bar...T-rooms opened a whole new world we had been unknowingly searching for our entire lives. They were a revelation, a source of first gay friends, a sex education manual. etc. Don't knock the practice.

Yeah, the good ol’ days before penicillin … times have changed, a lot.  Now you have all sorts of options and (legal) venues.  Enjoy your freedom, and let others pee in peace.

Watch what you wish for...

No need to shut shame others on here of all possible places.

Let's hope law and order doesn't apply to those of us who can afford hiring.

Prostitution it's still illegal in the USA even if it's done privately. Sting operations do happen.

If someone doesn't ike what he sees he should just look aside.

Most men walk in, pee and leave without making eye contact. No need for drama if someone is doing tricks or getting head in an install like Larry' Craig, most straight guys won't even see that but some always play the victim card, talk about pearl clutching. 😂

For the record I am all for everyone to get a room even if they met someone in a park, street, restroom, etc.

While entrapment is wrong. Guys really need to stop fucking in public.

And are they going to do anything about openly selling drugs on Sniffies and Grindr?

A decade ago, I was amazed that men openly sold one of the date rape drugs.

I used to take screenshots for a blog, but it got too tiresome.

The potty rules seem very difficult to migrate.

1) Do I clench my pearls if I think there is sex afoot?

2) Do I clench my pearls if I think a FTM is next to me?

3) Both?

4) Am I ever allowed to do my business and just leave, regardless of who is next to me, or what I think is afoot?

Agree! Live and let live.. I think cops should be going after other "criminals" and not those who commit victimless crimes...not that I would recommend people to  engage in this kind of activities when they can just get a room.

What is a T-room?

When I was either in high school or college-1979 or early 80's, Texas Monthly had some kind of article about 'gays.'  I still wasn't sure (or more likely was just lying to myself.) But as I recall  the article stated that the 1st floor men's  bathroom next to  the elevator at the JCPenney's (my city only had one Penney's) was a known cruising spot. I went to the mall one afternoon or evening and watched the bathroom for a small bit of time, but nothing happened. Instead it took me until October 2002 for my first sexual experience ever with my first hire.

According to definition-of.com:

A T-Room, often referred to as a "tea room" in gay slang, is a men's restroom used for anonymous sexual encounters between men. These locations provide a space for casual, unscripted sexual activities, often in public spaces like parks, due to societal stigmas and legal constraints surrounding same-sex relationships. The term is a euphemism, reflecting the discreet nature of these encounters and the historical context in which they emerged.

As recently as last year, I caught someone in the men's room at a department store trying to engage in gay sex.  He was taking forever in the one and only toilet stall with the door cracked open and sitting there masturbating.  A line was forming to use the toilet.  I really needed to use the toilet, so I just said "Hurry up, stop wacking off, there's guys waiting to shit" and the guy quickly left.

I've heard of T-socials . But weren't those actual dance parties or something?

At first I thought you meant the line was there for sex. Then I realized you meant guys needs to use the installed facility.

I've heard the term "T-dance" on gay cruises to refer to the afternoon dance party.

That might be what I was thinking of. I almost put 'dance' in my post above.

For men in NYC who want the thrill of a hookup without the chore of online apps, I recommend the Lodge.  Get on their mailing list.  For $30 every fee, you have a few hours of anonymous sex with like minded individuals.  Various sessions throughout the week geared towards different body types and fetishes.  And, you won't be arrested.

The first tearoom I went to was called The Orchid Room. It was on the sixth floor of Stewart's department store in downtown Louisville. Stewarts was the largest and grandest of high-end retail in the city.

The Orchid Room served lunch, which they, of course, called "luncheon" on the menu. The clientele consisted primarily of older blue-haired socialites out for a day of shopping and being seen. Then there was also this skinny young man who walked to Stewart's from J. C. Penny, where he worked measuring men's inseams.

None of the blue-hairs ever made a move on me. Apparently, they weren't into inseams. Or skinny blond boys.

Imagine my surprise years later when I heard of the goings-on in a different kind of T-room. The blue-hairs would have clutched a ton of pearls. And I could have measured more than inseams.

Cue up ... those were the days, my friends, we thought they'd never end ...

Imagine the horror of going to town and not seeing anyone. Worse, no one seeing you! The indignity!
