Thanks.  I celebrated by making chicken soup and matzo balls overnight.

Here's the Easter rabbit, hurray...

Are your balls sinkers or floaters?

Every year, I share this with my friends and family via social media. This year, I share it here, with you.

Agnes Moorehead (1900 - 1974) was one of the finest radio / theater / movie / TV actresses of the 20th Century. Most of us know her as 'Endora' from the ABC series 'Bewitched' (1964 - 72). In 1970, she was a guest on 'Oral Roberts Easter Special' which was recorded on Holy Thursday that year, and broadcast on Easter night. It's one of the most moving monologues I've ever seen.

Reminds me that when we were kids we always had hot cross buns for Easter breakfast. Those were the ones that were served warm and they had cinnamon and a cross on the top. Don’t know if they were only a Canadian thing.

Hot Cross Buns are a Lenten thing all over the world. My local bakery starts making them on Ash Wednesday, and carry them every day through Easter. I'm Italian and go to an Italian bakery - these have raisins in them, or dried fruit (I prefer the raisins). There's a cross on top made of icing (not frosting) and lightly sprinkled with powdered sugar - served at room temp. DELICIOUS.

When I said I had to hit Stop & Shop tonight why didn't my sister tell me that because it's Easter It would be closing at 5:30?!?!?

I heard another frustrated customer say "oh yeah... Easter!" at the locked door.

Supermarkets in Australia put hot cross buns on sale on Boxing Day. Normal people only sell them for about the month before Easter. But the ones in the supermarkets must sell as they haven't stopped selling them despite curmudgeons in the papers and on social media complaining (as they scoff the ones they bought).

It’s been so many decades since I had them that I thought my mother warmed them up to enhance the cinnamon flavour. Maybe they were just room temperature. I’m talking over 50 years ago. Living on my own I never wanted to buy a whole package when I would only eat one. And as I got older sweet things for breakfast don’t appeal to me now.
