I wondered why RM Premium quit working - Apparently they no longer take Visas.

I have four credit cards - three Visas, one Amex - no Mastercards.

Mastercards or crypto!?  How inconvenient!

I was able to do some sort of one time payment with VISA but I think I did it through rm.eu

I just was talking to my favorite masseur and mentioned that his ad was missing from Rentmasseur. He informed my that Rentmasseur is cancelling all ads that refuse to pay with Crypto or MasterCard. He stated he was unwilling to get a new credit card just for this one web site. He told me he has had his ad on there for 5 years and never missed a payment with his Visa and thinks they are being unreasonable.
Putting this out there to remind people that if your favorite masseur was Rentmasseur you may need to save their info or look for them on Masseurfinder.

Seems like a crazy business decision, however, business in Europe is a different animal than here in the U.S. From my days of business travel, I always had both a Visa and MC, because in Europe, you never knew which business accepted which card. Most businesses I encountered in Europe had restrictions on which card could be used. They simply could not afford, or did not want to endure the expense of offering too many cards.

If I was a massage therapist, and I profited from, and liked the UI of rentmasseur, I would definitely get a MC.

That's insane. Visa?

It's not like it's American Express or Discover card that many don't take now. Unreal.

Times are a changing.  A major grocer in my area no longer accepts VISA, but will accept American Express, Discover, or MasterCard.  VISA's fees became too outrageous for merchants to support.  VISA has increased its fees to support the Rewards cards it offers.

I had no clue about that... I think both of mine are Visa's now that I think about it.

Initially, I was reading this thread as just what masseurs were going through. Now I've discovered all of us using Visa are being rejected.

I emailed them how ridiculous this is. Obviously, their choice. Imagine, if everyone just cancelled their accounts. They would lose a ton of money.

To be sure, we Americans, are spoiled for choice. The site is operated from Europe where they dont see things the same way.  During a trip to the Netherlands last week I had a rude awakening when almost no one would accept my credit card. Grocery stores, liquor stores, even restaurants. Only debit cards. My corporate credit card was basically useless.  Improvise, adapt and overcome gentlemen!

I finally caved and got a mastercard when they canceled my premium account several months ago... sigh!

Definitely not worth opening a new credit card account just to access rentmen premium

I hope good-old American capitalism works its ways here.  I am 64, and I assume that the majority of paying customers on both RM sites are middle-aged or older (i.e. > 40).  Speaking for myself:  I'm NOT investing in Bitcoin just to satisfy their requirements, nor am I opening a MC account just for them.  Also assume that the VISA to MC percentage in the US is at least 65%/35% if not higher.

RM management:  best of luck to you.

until this came up a few months ago, I used to think that Visa and MasterCard were nearly synonymous.......seems like both were accepted anywhere and the two were always spoken of as "one" in ads over the years ("use your VisaMasterCard at millions of merchants worldwide")......fortunately, I had an old never-used unexpired MC laying around (as I mentioned in an earlier post) and was able to add it to my RMen and RMass billing and continue the grandfathered $9.95/mo rate.....I definitely will never do a crypto thing as long as I live, I hope.....many banks offer free (no annual fee) MC accounts and I hope some here will reconsider their "no MasterCard" stance so they can continue their Premium RM status (for the benefits, of course 😈).....yes, I know it's a moneygrab for RM and a racket, but. for no extra cost (free credit card), you can continue the way you were as long as you are grandfathered in at that $9.95/mo rate......

I was excited that my favorite masseur's ad was back up on Rentmasseur and sent him a message. Turns out that his ad is visible, but he can't access the messages. He was completely unaware that his ad was visible again since he still has not gotten a MasterCard. So maybe Rentmasseur is trying to keep their numbers up by showing "expired" ads? Or trying to lure masseurs back by withholding their messages? I don't get it.

So friendboy hasn't been working for a few days so I decided to give rentmen another try and I know they aren't taking visa's anymore but like someone prior to me said if you use Apple Pay instead it seems to work. Now my ad is back up again after 2 months.
