Meh.  I kind of feel like I got scammed by him.  He was in my area, LI, I contacted him, made plans.  He was using a phone with a weird area code, then had me go to a walgreens to get a gift card, then had me try to give him a deposit through facebook or paypal.  Then, asked me to send him a picture of the gift card with the code exposed.  When I refused since he could just redeem it, he kept trying to put me through hoops to give him money before we actually even met.  Sent me some random picture of his hotel location as "proof" that he was actually in my area.  I was basically game for anything until he asked me, quite aggressively, to send him the code for the gift card.  As soon as I told him that was a no-go, he was gone.  Your mileage may vary.

Where did you “find” him? Grindr? This sounds entirely how scammers behave when they use the fake pictures.

Well, considering his RentMen profile https://rent.men/DanielNarssi says he's in Texas, I think you likely met a scammer who was impersonating him by using his photos.

I met him when he was in California in a perfectly normal escort transaction with no deposit required ahead of time: I just showed up at his place with normal cash.
