Puerto Vallarta MX recommendations

Hotel Mercurio is an all gay hotel with cheap rates, fantastic breakfast included, and in a great location one block from the beach and only a few blocks from the gay nightlife.  Even if you don't stay there, check out their BBB Sundays (burgers, boys, and beers).

Casa Capula is an all gay hotel on top of a hill.  Check out their Saturday naked pool parties, and their Sunday drag brunch.

Take a gay party cruise once during your week.  Wet N Wild gay cruise, and PV Dulce cruise are both fantastic.  $100 includes lunch, booze, entertainment, and swimming at a private beach.  Bring extra $ to get special attention from the crew.

Check out ActII and Palm Cabaret.  Both offer great entertainment, with two or more shows each night and they change throughout the week.

My typical PV day:

Wake up, breakfast, beach, lunch, massage, happy hour, siesta, 7pm show, dinner, then strip clubs (most open around 10pm)

Going to PVR for Thanksgiving week 2021 (for the first time)

Welcome any/all insights and recommendations, not just escort/massage.

Thanks all!

Jack

When you arrive at the airport, DON'T talk to the transportation salesmen that line the hallways from baggage claim to the terminal exit.  DO use the ATMs at the airport, but DECLINE the banks currency conversion.  Just withdraw how many Pesos you want, and your account will automatically be withdrawn the correct US dollars.  The bank conversion option makes you lose on the exchange rate.

DO walk outside the terminal and pickup a taxi there.  You tell them where you're going, and you pay at the counter in advance, but prices are less than $20 to even the far end of the Romantic Zone.

Uber can't pick up at the airport, but it can drop you off there at the end of your trip.  If you use taxis throughout your trip, the best idea is to ask them the total cost to your destination before you get in.  Even traveling from Zona Romantica to the timeshares uptown, will only be about $4 US.

Be sure to check out Club Spartacus, the gay bathhouse.  Good times to go are afternoon siesta to relax in the hot tub and sauna, or when you're leaving the bars for the night and haven't picked someone up

Got a tip, Uber can't pick you up at the airport but they can pick you up across the street.   There's a famous taco stand (Marlin) across the street - go there have some tacos and call an Uber, boom!   😁

True, but for how cheap the taxis are, even at the airport, vs the hassle of walking across the highway bridge with your luggage, I recommend just taking a taxi from the airport.  You're saving yourself like $3 or $4, not $30 or $40.

Just don't sign up for any transportation from inside the terminal.  Wait until you get outdoors to get a taxi.

Make life easier.  Book a car service.  Thank me later.

They'll have your name on a placard when you walk outside.

A new-model Tahoe or Suburban with a comfortable backseat and great AC never goes out of style.

I wanna travel with this guy!

<muttering> dragging my luggage across some Mexican highway bridge at the airport like a homeless person?….are you people fucking nuts? <end>

I've enjoyed staying at Mercurio many times, but for the last 4-5 years have been staying at the Hotel Almar which is right on the gay beach (Mercurio, while near the beach, is a few blocks from the gay beach). The Almar also has a terrific beach pool and club, and shows on their rooftop bar/restaurant. Most rates also include breakfast (not all). I will confess to being one of those who drags his suitcase across the highway to get Uber. It does save about $20 to the Almar. One of the aspects of Puerto Vallarta I love the most are the restaurants. The Cafe des Artistes is my favorite restaurant in the world. On the beach, I love El Dorado. I also love the very romantic River Cafe and the very authentic and tasty Red Cabbage Cafe (Repollo Rojo).

Hey y'all. So I have a cruise stop at PV. I will have a day to explore the city.  A local market, one gay bar and Club Spartacus is on my list. What else should I add?

One more thing when "Zona Romantica" is like town? I have it on my list but where do I go in the Zona Romantica?

Thanks!

Zona Romantica is an area of town, next to the gay beach, and contains the gay bars and strip clubs.  Spartacus is in Zona Romantica.

If your ship leaves early, you'll likely miss out on most of the fun in Zona Romantica, because gay bars don't open until after dinner.

If you're just in PV for the day, I recommend Uber or taxi to the beach near Blue Chairs, then of course Sparticus

All my favorites as well. Red Cabbage is a must…I took a cooking class there one day.

Not sure if it’s still a going concern but “Los Pibes” was a great Argentinian Steakhouse. Used to have two locations but closed the marina one.

There are three main gay establishments at the gay beach: (1) Blue chairs, (2) Green/orange chairs (Ritmos), and (3) Mantamar. The larger the number, the better the food in my opinion. The Mantamar is associated with the Hotel Almar, and you may have to pay a fee if you're not a guest of the hotel (at the others, you have to just order at least a bottled water or iced tea). Mantamar has excellent sushi and sashimi, and they have duck tacos to die for. Also great ceviches, and tons of other options from Mexican to Italian to Peruvian. When coming from the ocean, facing the mountains, blue chairs are on the left, green chairs in the center, Mantamar on the right.

I think I've given up on Mercurio after staying there many times.  I understand them wanting to do things to increase revenue, but when those things result in the pool area being overrun by people not staying at the hotel it makes my stay less enjoyable.  Maybe it's because of my age, but I liked the vibe of 10 years ago or so more when it was more quiet and less crowded.  It was still fun but wasn't party central, which seems to be what they are trying to make Mercurio now.

Sadly, Spartacus caught fire our first day here!   They say will be a "few weeks to reopen"  😵

@JEC @Benjamin_Nicholas If you're still in PV, you may want to inquire about Amaria Villa's "Men's Tuesdays". I just started seeing ads for it on Facebook.  Don't know if it's your cup of tea, but thought I'd share.  Looks like you can get transportation, a massage, a buffet, and go go's at a clothing optional pool, all for $100.  That price is pretty good just for the massage, if it's a good massage

Thanks for the heads up!  :)

I'm already in CDMX, unfortunately.  However, I appreciate the info for future visits.

Hello, just returned from PV and went to the men's event at Amaria.   It's a great event, there were about 25 guys of all ages / body types.   Open Bar all day and they make and serve snacks throughout the day.   The massage is good, and extras are extra but still a good deal all around.   The resort is in the mountains near the Canopy Tours ATV / Ziplining place - they provide a free 20 min ride from the town square.    The 3 guys (a thruple) who own/run the place are super friendly and chill.   There were only a few hot guys, that may change as they develop the event....still it was an enjoyable, chill event.   Recommend!

I'm thinking of going to PV but I'm wondering if I will like it...

I LOVE Rio.... basically I Grind in the early afternoon, then if I am still up for more (usually) I head to the 117 or 202 around 5pm, done by 9 in bed by 11.

I love Mexican food (surely better than Brazilian feijoada!) but I have some reservations about what I've read...

--What sex opportunities are there during the day? I'm not a beach person at all. How's Grindr there? What are the paid sex opportunities during the day? I don't really like the idea of waiting around until 10pm for strip clubs to open if that's the primary paid opportunity. I'm not really a night owl, sex is really my only vice

--I really like a good, quality, long as possible f***. Im not content with touching or oral. In 117 or 202 theres no doubt youre going to get full service, although you can definitely negotiate about the how. Is full service assured at the strip clubs or do I have to make arrangements for after?

I went to Santo Domingo earlier this year after my vaccine and I found it a fairly good stand-in for Rio (the guys at Juan Binbin were nowhere near as numerous nor as hunky as in Rio but they were fun and definitely as full a service as it comes)

What do you think? I am tempted to go to Rio but I have barely a week and Im in California now and so Rio is several times as far as PV, and also nearly all the Brazilians I've spoken to have said that Rio has become ever more dangerous since I was last there right before the pandemic.

Thanks for the input guys!

If you're in the Zona Romantica, you can turn on Grindr and about a quarter of the men will be available for hire.  Their profile will say massage, but you can usually ask and get sex for between 2000 to 4000 pesos ($100-$200 USD).  I've met a few great looking guys in their apartments during the afternoon.  "Right now" will get you the best price, if you are close to them.

Thanks for the advice. Is that the going rate for incall sex there? Basically equivalent to Spain (150 EUR), and far from Brazil or Santo Domingo (around 50USD)

In my experience in 2019-2021, yes.  4000 pesos was on the very high end.  I've had as low as 1000 pesos.

Some guys who charge 2000-3000 pesos via rentmen will settle for 1200 pesos if you find them advertising on Grindr in the afternoon.
