Swimming and speedos

Was planning to learn to swim and go for private swim classes. Was checking out swimcoaches and OMG they are damn hot in those speedos. Scheduled for the first lesson, I’ve been ask to come with a Speedo.

it turns me on!!! Any cool speedo ideas, and how can I take it forward as interesting. Lookin to get some fun wearing a Speedo.

did they really request you wear a Speedo?....I honestly don't know the current protocol, but does anybody know if this is standard for adults learning to swim these days?.....is it because the bulkiness and excess material in boxer-style/boardshorts is considered too 'in the way' when trying to maneuver and thrash about in the water??....or what?

Yes I have been explicitly asked to come with a Speedo. Was said  make sure I bring speedo or small shorts! So it doesn’t get heavy when wet..

Yes.

I used to swim competitively and teach swimming. 

Serious swimming in anything other than a small suit is ridiculous and just harder for a beginner.

Once they get past the initial body image issues, they never look back.

it depends. I have a belly and my butt is saggy -not the round little bubble butt it used to be. I am pear shaped -I wouldn't want to see me in a speedo-nor would I inflict that on others.

I swim a lot, and admit I love to wear speedos. I have a whole collection of them, which my husband finds very amusing.

I chuckle a bit when I see guys swimming laps in trunks or board shorts, but can understand if not everyone wants to wear a brief. The other legit options for swimming are jammers (long, almost to the knee) or square cuts (Speedo calls them "aquashorts"). I wear each depending on the pool and the weather. Some guys look better in one type compared to another, or find some styles more comfortable than others.

Speedo.com has a great selection of all styles. So many to chose from... too many to choose from. Which is why I have amassed so many!

folks don't have body image issues in Rio for sure. They all wear speedos, even if they don't exactly cover them.

Many people could Ware Speedos, but choose not to, including me. After all, I am almost 78 years old

When I swim laps, I do jammers.  I like the feeling of them and they keep my legs from getting sore.

Speedo-cut (or, brief cut) are good for pool/beach days.  I'm also a fan of a snug pair of square cuts.

Learning to swim as an adult, it’s kinda clear that the hydrodynamics for racing are not a factor. (Or are you already a good swimmer, and taking advanced to learn competitive style? ) There are trunk and boxer cut suits in very light microfiber fabric which do not weigh you down in the water. It seems that demanding a Speedo cut is more an aesthetic choice. If that was a condition for a beginner swim class, I would have to find another class… I wore them when young and cute in the 80’s, and not since. 

(And thanks, grandpa,  for the YMCA membership in 1964 so I could learn swimming as a kid who hadn’t learned to hate his body yet!!)

Actually I love that. Want to be as unclothed as possible, so guess speedos is as close it can get and it excites to be with a hot coach.

Speedo makes swim trunks, as well.  Could it be that the instructor expects you to come in swim attire, as opposed to walking shorts, and not necessarily a lycra brief?

Kudos for learning to swim!!! That's awesome! I learned at a very young age and did so mostly as a leisure activity and not competitively. 
 

As for wearing a traditional Speedo, its not something I've ever felt comfortable enough to try to pull off myself, but salute all who do. I do have a pair of aqua shorts, but haven't worn them in public yet. Maybe soon....baby steps! 🤔🤣

I have swum all my life, growing up at a cottage that was on a lovely lake with a great sandy beach in front of our house. Today, at 74, I still swim and wear a Speedo. I do laps at my gym.

I do have trunks for the beach when I go for paddling around in the water. But they drag in the water when I am doing laps.

My figure has suffered a bit during this shutdown when the gym has been closed. It will open next week so hope to regain my svelte figure by the fall. Lol.

chubbies makes swim trunks that have only a 4 inch inseam so you can wear something that's not heavy while still not as aesthetically unforgiving as a speedo.

Even in my lean youth, I’d look ridiculous in a Speedo.  If I wore a Speedo, I’d look like a poseur

I took an escort to my gym for swimming a couple of years ago and he wouldn’t wear a Speedo which I offered him and swam in a pair of shorts. Reason being, his basket was huge and it made him self conscious in front of some old ladies in the pool.

Btw, he measures 10X7 fully erect and not much less flaccid.
