Deleting posts by someone who is no longer a "member" would certainly free up a lot of room, but it would destroy a lot of useful, interesting and even beloved content; e.g., what would become of the "Friday Funnies," which were started by jackhammer, who has been gone for more than six years? (R.I.P., Ray😢) Some people disappear for long periods, but then return, including Lucky.

Would it be possible to group members in two different categories, "active" and "inactive?" I would suggest that someone who has not posted within the past three years belongs in an "inactive" category, and should be labeled that way on their profile.

I was one of those members that posted actively from 2002  for a good many years and then ceased completely over 5 years ago. I had my own personal reasons for doing so, mostly related to the fact that my life had taken a different turn and escorts were no longer a part of it.

I came back a couple of years ago after this long hiatus. When I logged on I remember being somewhat amazed that my ID and password were still functional. It was a breeze to get started again. Of course, if they had been deleted, I could have come on with a new password and possibly new username. But being able to return as if nothing had happened to me was an experience like in days of old when a wandering son suddenly turns up again and is welcomed into the fold of the family unreservedly.

I wouldn't object to creating an inactive list and if we find out someone has passed on, maybe we should create a third list, the "Pantheon of Members" or some such, to retain the memory of those who have gone before and are no longer with us. For this third category, I would suggest their passwords be deleted. For in-actives, I think their ID's and passwords should be retained.

We actually have a member group for deceased members called “RIP”.

Are their passwords inactivated? I assume all other aspects of their participation on this forum have been retained but don’t know if that is correct.

If someone did manage to login to a RIP or Banned account, they would actually see LESS than guests that are not logged in. Guests can see most forums here but can’t post. The RIP and Banned groups actually don’t see ANY forum. Private Messages and all other site features are disabled.

I just looked for it under search but nothing came up. Can it be viewed and how?

If you go to Search, you have to choose the Member tab. From there, you can select member group. Here’s a link to the search results for just the RIP member group:

I am still confused, because although I followed this procedure and arrived at the group of seven late members, I still don't know how they got to be listed as members of that group. For instance, long time member @bigvalboy's death was announced in a thread back in November, but he is not in the group. I can think of other late members who are not there either.

They have to be manually set unfortunately. There is nothing the forums themselves can key off of to know someone is deceased.

I’ve manually put Guy Fawkes in the group. He put most everyone else in that group.

If there are others that should be included, just let me know. I’ve just added @bigvalboyto the group.

I am horrible with names. There was this other member who passed a couple of years ago. He was in the Palm Spring weekend I attended about 3 years ago. He was probably 90, really friendly, and still hiring. A very popular escort whose name I have also forgotten, wrote a beautiful eulogy here. @BabyBoomerhas to know who I am talking about.

Apparently Daddy/Guy didn't think all this was  as important as the  escort reviews and his daily posts of current article of information about what's happening in gay/lesbian justice, entertainment was of secondary importance. I greatly miss that aspect of this site. Daddy had a point, I believe

I dont really understand the "fervor" of this thread ?    There are many MORE important issues the Mods need to address....    This is much Ado about nothing.  Why not just create an In Memorium thread and place all the names in there for all of you that seem to NEED to review members no longer with us.

OR...If you guys are that bored,  take a nap ..You are becoming morbidly OBSESSIVE.  😏

You can also add latlrnr to the list. He joined in 2004 and died in 2008.

Why is this so damn important to Lucky and you?  Understand a little About remembering members who died. But, why kick out members who are inactive?

Rick Munroe liked one of my messages a month ago. Is he a member?

Of course Rick is still a member. I don't know about Lucky--we have never discussed this subject--but I have no interest in "kicking out members," and I doubt that he does either. He started this thread over the birthday list, which contained names of people who haven't been active here for years, and I suggested the possibility of flagging them as "inactive" so no one wastes time posting a Happy Birthday to them.

I doubt that MsGuy has passed. According to his profile, he started following you only a couple of weeks ago!

@MsGuy last signed in in July, 2019, so if he is "following" me, it started in May, 2019, not last month. He would have had to sign in to do that.

Anyway, I miss his posts.
