I am between laughing ? and puking ? when I read in the forum about providers, gentlemen and fine young gentlemen. How did we come up to this totally unerotic terms? What happened to escorts? Why don't we call escorts by their name?

A rose, by any other name... ?

Why does it bother you? Pop, soda, soda pop, soft drink - does it really matter what you call the source of your sugar high? ?

For me it’s a counter to some of the negative, dehumanizing terms describing escorts often tossed around here.

"Escort" is hardly an erotic term. If you want to accurately describe most of the individuals who advertise their services you would use the term "sex worker."

I like to use the term "playmate." It accurately describes what occurs when we have a "playdate."

I intentionally use the term "providers" as a short cut to typing out "escorts and masseurs" or when I want to be ambiguous about which group I am referring to. At other times I use providers because I hate trying to remember the correct spelling for the latter and I don't want to type out "massage therapist."

Always interesting what seemingly mundane thing gets someone "worked up." I have my own items, so I get it. This annoyance is not one of them, however. I will say, that respect can be erotic to some, and I have always felt "provider" to be a respectful/safe term, where other terms seemed more charged. I don't personally find escort offensive, but on occasion have had guys tell me they preferred the term "provider." Maybe times have changed??‍♂️. I don't ever want to use a term that would seem degrading, of course.

though "provider" has a bit of a medical insurance/primary doctor vibe to it, I much prefer it to the wink-wink-nudge-nudge connotation that "escort" carries.....

Whenever I hire I feel, in many ways, that I'm having some sort of (stress?) therapy.

Sex is a basic physiological need and erotic massage can have serious benefits thanks to the release of endorphins.

So it wouldn't be completely inappropriate to call these workers providers, especially if we look at sex work in a progressive way.

Who knows if 50 to 100 years from now it becomes a legal and recognized profession in developed countries.
