I despair of people who hold racist, xenophobic views. In a thoroughly perverse way you are right. They are being “honest” in their own obnoxious way. Whether an excellent site such as this where very diverse topics and issues are raised in by and large an intelligent and constructive manner is the right forum for such people is another matter.

Like many of you I have shared good experiences and bad ones on this site.

 

Well here is one not so good. With the Saunas closed in Brazil many guys texted me daily crying and asking for money because they have no work. You would not believe some of the very sad tales they told me. For about a week I would receive from 5 to 10 texts per day, per boy, asking for money. Some even sent nude photos and videos of them jerking and cumming. And the stories were tear jerkers

 

Finally three days ago I gave in and sent $150 to six differeny boys. To say the least, I have not heard from any of them again and only one texted thank you. How sad.

 

For years I knew these guys did not really give a damn about us, they only want the money. And as the expression goes: "no good deed goes unpunished". So true so true.

 

Just venting my disappointment and frustration with the program guys. Years ago my Brazilian friend said be careful with these guys and leave the love inside the sauna. They know older foreigners are easy targets for swindling money from them. But this is an all time low, even for them

 

I've heard of similar stories from American escorts in "normal ttimes" who somehow are always needing extra money.

Folks like that might be honest as pointed by @sydneyboy but I doubt they'll have the courage to say something like that to in person to folks who might disagree with them.

Wow that's really bad and a shame that racism and xenophobia can be allowed in this forum when disguised as freedom of speech. I think there is a difference when you criticize rednecks, which is a subset of a population, vs making negative remarks about the culture of an entire nation or ethnic group but more reproachable doing it with no concrete proof or basis at all, rather making up fictional studies to validate such hateful lies.

Yeah, sorry this happened to you. While we know full well what the arrangement is generally, it is still nice if they can at least express gratitude. Apart from that, not expressing gratitude is just not a very good long-term strategy on their part when swindling. Because obviously you won't help them out anymore after that, whereas if they'd expressed gratitude and maybe a small update on how your money helped them you might have sent them more money.

 

But these boys know how to charm... I'm chatting with a cute, cute, cute 20-something guy who's living in Bogota and I haven't spent any cash on him yet but boy do I feel myself edging closer every time we talk. I know he's only there to eventually get me to open up my wallet but it's so addictive to just give into the fantasy.

Rio’s pandemic measures remain fairly relaxed in spite of high case incidence. The mitigation laws are state-specific. You need a negative CoV test to board a flight to Brazil. In a few days, the same requirement to board USA-bound from anywhere will also apply.

 

A new worrisome viral variant in Brazil needs to be followed closely. Some nations are already blocking flights originating in Brazil. UK is restricting flights from Portugal because Brazilians tend to connect in Lisbon.

There's some astonishing J-class fares being offered, I can only hope that when travel here opens up again some of the airlines offer deals half as good. These AA fares have been discussed in the One Mile at a Time forum to some cynicism, and some contempt for anyone who is travelling to South America in the pandemic, or even talking about it. While they are tempting, I'm too much of a glass-half-empty guy in this situation: possibility of cancellation, difficulty of getting soon to be mandatory tests and so on, but good luck and have fun anyone who's going to take the plunge.

I too have read countless stories on the internet and personal stories from acquaintances who go to countries like Brazil, Morocco, Thailand, the Philippines etc looking for "love'' or thinking the boys actually care about them. The harsh reality is that we want sex and the boys in saunas, go go bars etc want money, and as much as they can get.

I have a friend who has 4 university degrees (including a PhD) who met a boy in Morocco about 15 years ago. He has paid for his education, health, rent and ad hoc amounts for every conceivable reason. Along with all his local friends I am gobsmacked at his gullibility. The individual known as Trilingual who set up the Gay Travel Brazil website I have read on BoyToy came to grief after marrying his Brazilian boyfriend and if these reports are to be believed is virtually destitute.

At least one story I read on the now very quiet Cruising for Sex site some years ago was very amusing. This American met a go go boy in Pattaya, Thailand. The boy invited him to the family home in the countryside. On arrival mother announced that her refrigerator had broken down and it would cost the equivalent of a couple of hundred dollars to replace it and would he oblige. He agreed. The boy told him he would write his name in texta on the side of the refrigerator to remind him of their ''love''. He found himself alone in the house and discovered the name of a foreigner on the side of the stove, microwave, TV and every other electrical appliance and stick of furniture in the house. I sent him a PM telling I found the story delightful and he had made my day. He replied back assuring me it was true. I replied back telling him I didn't doubt it for a moment. I have been to Thailand about a dozen times and that story was pure unadulterated Thai.

I must confess to being rather cynical about ''love'' but on balance I think it is better to be cynical than conned, or worse have your heart broken.

There is great Truth and Wisdom to these stories. It applies to all situations where there is no match between the partners other than sex and money. It applies not just to First World-Third World dalliances but to all worlds. I can add my own experiences but you have given plenty of examples.

+1 for Prague and Zurich. I prefer those two for safety, things to do (both touristy and LGBTQ+), and breadth of culture.
