I have been a member of this board for over five years and contributed over 2000 posts on a vast variety of topics. I have for the most part enjoyed the dialogue that occurs here and hope it continues for a long time.

Sometimes well-known posters disappear from this community and we rarely know why. Obviously some of them have passed on and only on rare occasions we learn of this later. It is the downside of a Internet site where posters are for the most part anonymous.

I am scheduled for major surgery next week and have already had my preadmission interview at the hospital. I will be under general anesthetic for 5-6 hours. While the prospects are very good for a complete recovery, you just never know what might happen.

If my voice is stilled on this board after next week you will know what happened at least in my case. So, a possible farewell and it's been nice conversing with you all. :)

Major surgery can be pretty scary and I hope that you will be one lucky guy who gets better quickly. Support from your family and friends can be pretty important, and I hope that support from the guys here helps you with this major event in your life.

OK - enough of this nonsense. Haven't you read the manual? Canadians (and especially Montrealers) are not allowed to be unwell. We need your vote for the next election to keep Harper at bay.

Good luck - don't let it get you down - attitude is an important factor in any cure. I know you will be teriffic when you're back with us.

All best wishes. Major surgery is a worry, so we are all thinking of you and some of us will pray, too. There can be a good side; had major surgeries myself in 1996 and 1997 and am all the better for them. So, break a leg, as they say in show biz.

It is very heart-warming to read all these kind notes expressing concern for your well being. I join them. Some mentioned prayers for you. We all understand that in different ways, but I venture to say that our voices united in wishes for your recovery has all the healing qualities of the best of prayers.
